I heard a BBC news presenter also pronounce it Om"ee"ga, I think this is a British thing. I am in Canada and hear it pronounced O"may"ga

So you can't say that any way of pronouncing the word Omega is more correct than another. You just pronounce it in your native language like you were pronouncing the greek letter Ω, that's it. I always thought O-MEE-GA sounded weird...I'm an O"MAY"GA guy.
