retep Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 A no brand watch? give me three smilies please
narikaa Posted July 16, 2006 Author Report Posted July 16, 2006 A no brand watch? give me three smilies please Indeed it bears no brand....but no three smilies for that generalisation.......you have to say 'what this watch is' It doesnt need intricate knowledge.....just thinking thru
irongambit Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 I'm sorry...I meant for the blind My rationale... extra buttons to have the time told to wearer perhaps as both voice (when on dry land) and via vibrations or pulses under water. Very little lume for a dive watch Seeing the brand may become unimportant if you cannot see The "extra crown" looks like a little horn to me Just trying to expand my thinking here
Pugwash Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 I'm sorry...I meant for the blind I like this way of thinking.
Pugwash Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 (edited) Here's a guess. It's a smuggler's watch. The buttons open secret compartments where you can keep drugs or something. Either that, or it's a pill watch for when to take your medication. It has to be an unusual single-purpose watch like that. Edit: Medication could also be booze Edited July 16, 2006 by Pugwash

Shame on the rest of you slow thinkers !! 'you cant SEE what all those buttons do' so which other sense would they cater to????? None so blind as those who will not see!! irongambit PM your postal details - congrats! Edited July 16, 2006 by narikaa
irongambit Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 On further examination, I am convinced that it is for the visually impaired. The disk of the seconds hand is at the end of the hand to be able to see better. Huge high-contrast numbers. I'm not sure if it actually vibrates, but I bet that it talks. EDIT ...OK, so I'm a little late. I keep going even though I'm the winner. I should learn to type faster.
narikaa Posted July 16, 2006 Author Report Posted July 16, 2006 Yes its a Talking watch (proto type run - designed for the blind) - many functions: Optional spoken time & alarm setting Optional spoken hourly 'chime' 3 Different alarm tones Optional hourly vibrate Optional alarm vibrate Hourly 'chimes' self disable 9pm - 7am ps Puggy I think you got into the right mindset too late
launchnukes Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 there is something that's confusing me... why would a blind person be diving? lol
Pugwash Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 why would a blind person be diving? Why wouldn't they? ps Puggy I think you got into the right mindset too late Yup, and it cost me a free watch.
KB Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 Congrats to the winner Methinks that Reg pulled a quickie there and Photo shopped the word Talking out ............... Anyway that was fun whose the next dealer to step up to the plate? Kudos Reg Ken
Chronus Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 there is something that's confusing me... why would a blind person be diving? lol If they are diving what's the point of the bezel and 'pearl' ?
Pugwash Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 If they are diving what's the point of the bezel and 'pearl' ? "Blind" doesn't mean "sees nothing but black".
irongambit Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Narikaa, Thank you again for a great game...I appreciate the challenge and I can't wait to have the Mystery Watch revealed! All, Look forward to pics. Best Regards, IG
irongambit Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england...ies/5100622.stm A little news clipping about a blind diver (it looks like he tries to do lots of things people don't think the visually-impaired should bother with).
narikaa Posted July 17, 2006 Author Report Posted July 17, 2006 Congrats to the winner Methinks that Reg pulled a quickie there and Photo shopped the word Talking out ............... Anyway that was fun whose the next dealer to step up to the plate? Kudos Reg Ken Ken......how could you..no trickery (like I said) Just judicious 'cropping' (overlay all the sections if you dont believe me) .
narikaa Posted July 17, 2006 Author Report Posted July 17, 2006 "Blind" doesn't mean "sees nothing but black". True.....could mean just failing to correctly interpret the signals given to the brain by the eyes Does the hat fit?
narikaa Posted July 22, 2006 Author Report Posted July 22, 2006 Just by way of an epilogue to this story. I called on one of my distributors last night and from across the room he looked at my watch (this one) and said........ "It doesn't does it?" "what?" says I "TALK TO YOU"
Pugwash Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 and from across the room he looked at my watch (this one) and said........ "It doesn't does it?" Good job he doesn't post here or he'd have won a watch.
