stilty Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 We were in NYC last month and paid a visit to a local jewelry designer and decided to get ourselves some custom rings. We just received them a few days ago, so I figured I would post a couple pics. On Mrs. Stilty's ring is a cast of my fingerprint. And I have Mrs. Stilty's fingerprint on my ring. We had them made from rose gold for something a little different.
wheaton26 Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 wow, very cool. i've never seen that before. congratulations!
docblackrock Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Interesting. If you ever get divorced, you can frame the harpie at the scene of a bank job.....
Stephane Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Never saw that before either. It's an interresting idea...but dangerous Joking, and congrats to you guys
kbh Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Interesting. If you ever get divorced, you can frame the harpie at the scene of a bank job..... Now that was funny.
stilty Posted May 21, 2009 Author Report Posted May 21, 2009 LOL! hey, wait a minute.... she could do the same.
Shundi Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Wow what an awesome design/concept! Those look great!
KB Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 I can see it could also be very useful.... Overseas trip Mr Stilty approaches local police......"I seem to have lost my wife" "Alright sir can you give us a description?"......."F**k that here's her fingerprints!" Must say a very cool concept and one I have never heard of before. Ken
stilty Posted May 22, 2009 Author Report Posted May 22, 2009 thanks guys! yeah, they are a pretty cool design. I really like the handcrafted feel. they almost look like hammered copper. the only tough part was sticking our fingers in molten gold for the imprint! We also had the designer stamp our initials, as well as our kids initials on the inside. Should be a nice keepsake for them after we are long gone!
JoJo35 Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Hey Stilty, can't you just ask her to plant a thumbprint on the crystal of that new Omega? You'd think of her each time you checked your watch
Member X Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Just have to be careful as over time gold does wear smooth! Mind you, if you're with her that long she'll probably be demanding an Eternity Ring so losing the pattern in these will be the least of your worries lol
stilty Posted May 28, 2009 Author Report Posted May 28, 2009 @ JJ - LOL Nah, wouldn't want that to mess up the beautiful AR coating! But... that did give me an idea. maybe have the finger print laser etched into the crystal and only visible from certain angles. Maybe for a different project down the road. Oh yes, we took the "wear" into consideration. The designer recommended we go with 10K for durability. Already set up the savings account for the eternity ring!
