Richard Tracy
Hi, I just made a connection with a guy that will do custom fitted crystals for pretty much all our reps, including pams that have all the optical qualities of gen, i.e. no distortion. I can get them in Sapphire, mineral, or plastic...including AR coating.. for prices that will make it worth it for members here, since that these are only replicas... If you are interested, we need to get orders per size of between 5 to 20 each depending upon the material, and other factors.... We also need at least one sample or expert dimension draft per order. If interested,.. let me know. I will be first to say I want one for my Omega smp 2000, and one for my swiss 212...

Chronus
does 212 have an AR coated sapphire crystal? I remember someone was trying to do this earlier. I think some dealers have it with sapphire crystal now though.

I think some dealers have it with sapphire crystal now though. But do we want to spend another 250+ for a new crystal? I will take a 212 AR coated when available And a 196 crystal AR coated And a 029 cruystal with correct cyclops AR coated And a 127 crystal AR coated

triplehd
Hi.. price ranges are for mineral about $25... and sapphire... $55 to $75.... I'm sure that this has been discussed before, but what is the difference between Mineral and Sapphire crystals? I thought the higher-end reps came with sapphire crytals. I have 2 SMPs that I would love to upgrade with AR coating - but do I go with mineral or sapphire?

Whereas Sapphire is the superior crystal it's more about what is right for the watch, you don't put sapphire on a watch that only came with Mineral as you would then be adding a flaw to that watch. slay
Anyone know what size crystal is fitted to the PAM 183 Blackseal? I'd love to get an acrylic one made for my vintage 3646... I would be in, too! But I want a really thick mofo crystal Like the one's Watchmaster uses I could borrow my 183 crystal if he needs the dimensions (but the crystal should be a little bit thicker, about twice the thickness or so) Edited August 15, 2006 by slay
Richard Tracy
I'm new at this.. so help me out here... First of all it's not going to be a business...pretty much just a connection to a source that I will of course be the conduit for... As for mag and cyclops, someone fill me in, but aren't these separate lenses that must be glued on ? If so.. I have yet to inquire if he does this small work... but I will find out... I assume so, as he says he can produce any crystal made for watches, but does caution that square, rectangle or other off shaped models will cost quite a bit more... So far what he is requesting is blue-prints with exact data for him to work with..... anyone with this skill....?
Linder
Yes, the cyclopses are a seperate piece and you will want to glue them together prior to the coating or else you will get a nasty ring visible beneath the cyclops.
js4tda
I'm in for 212 at least 2 ea. Also would go for the 222 with cyclops 2 ea. Thank You
