Pix Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Hi Folks, I've been owning this beauty for about a week now, so even if I have not really cooled down, I wished to share my feelings on it for the week-end I won't go into a a rep/gen comparison, as honestly, Andreww has done this in a perfect and extremely professional way, much better than what I would ever be able to do. I don't have enough Breitling knowledge nor I own a gen Click here for Andreww's thread If I would be asked to make it short, I would say that this replication is a real success, but there are 3 visible flaws (I'm exluding the movement) : - wider datewindow size on the rep - off-center pearl, although the recent batches were improved (not perfect yet) - the bezel is slightly misaligned (at least on mine) Before sharing my pictures, I will comment the Blackbird as a watch, as I think several members' experiences will help those who hesitate (St

ryaku Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Thanks Pix, i always appreciate a lot your being picky underlining all small flaws also those which most people wouldn't even notice. By the way, gorgeous watch, before pulling the trigger with the Slevin i was unsure between the Aquatimer and the BB.
jitai Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Hi Pix, Congrats on your new BB and very nice marco shots. Here's mine with brushed SS bracelet. Andrew did a really good job in in his review. This is really one fine replica despite the flaws.
Stephane Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Thank you very much for your reviews Pix. It's a great help for other members and a pleasure to read. If you continue to buy "most wanted" watches, you will become the reference for people like me who hesitate to go for a watch. In this case, I think I'll wait a little bit and see if I trully fall in love with the BB. Many thanks again, Cheers Stephane

LordRasta Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Thanks Pix. I've being eyeing one of these so I'll get with Mark and give him some business.
Dario33 Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Nice write-up and pictures -- beautiful watch.
Dave123 Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Ital. informed me yesterday that the gen Blackbird is out in polished SS now,as a Breitling should be....hope a rep comes available, will look great....
Pix Posted April 12, 2008 Author Report Posted April 12, 2008 Here are the lume shots. The hands, pearl and main markers are of a correct level. The hours markers are a standard rep lume, i.e. pretty weak. The SFSO is far over the BB as far as lume is concerned. As you see also, the pearl is not immaculate. But this cannot be seen by naked eyes. The BCE pearl mod could become a must, if someone had a source.
b16a2 Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Nice review Pix! I came across a gen the other day down at my local airport, got speaking to the owner, it is a very substantial watch in the flesh, looks very nice!
Pix Posted April 12, 2008 Author Report Posted April 12, 2008 I thought that some of you might be interested in how the bracelet looks like...
lanikai Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Grreeaatttt everything Pix.... saying anything else would not do your thread justice.. so nuff said.... thank you Lani
Pix Posted April 13, 2008 Author Report Posted April 13, 2008 For those who wonder, here is a rough size comparison with the SFSO. The BB looks bigger, wears about the same but actually is slightly smaller in size (diameter). As you see, the finish of the inner side of the SFSO strap looks much much better. It is.
capice Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 amazing.........again, thanks for sharing, I ordered my last two pieces with Mark, nice guy to deal with...
andreww Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Pix, great review, and some of the best photos I've ever seen! Congrats!
dovo1695 Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Great review Pix! I was already having difficulty choosing between the BCE and the Blackbird. I had all but decided on the BCE until I read this post and saw you're gorgeous pics. Now I guess I'm just going to have buy both!
Pix Posted April 13, 2008 Author Report Posted April 13, 2008 Thx, I've always liked the BCE as well, but not enough to get one. Maybe I was a bit disturbed by the subdials design and fonts. For me, the BB just wiped the small things which disturbed me. And once more "black is just beautiful"...
Seadweller4000 Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Awesome pictures as always. I wish I could take pictures like you! Another great post from you my friend. Thanks for all your work!
Pix Posted April 15, 2008 Author Report Posted April 15, 2008 Hi, I've seen the gen today at the Airport... Well, I don't know why but it looks bigger Is this possible ? Does anyone own a gen ?
