  2. Red Sky at morning... ...rider take warning. The motorcycle is under guard by a small army, a pop! gun, and a robot.
  3. Somewhere on a hardrive or old Windows XP machine I have tons of stuff I downloaded back in the 00’s. I’m just too lazy to power it up and sort through it. Like I said, it’s 2024 and I can’t get a solid Google result. I’m curious what misinformation have you seen? edit to add, I was looking for 1030/60 movement info, and even the so called “Caliber” repositories have dropped anything older than a 15xx 🤷🏼
  4. It is always good to hear from long time members who haven’t been around for a while. I’m truly happy to learn you are still around and enjoying your watches
  5. I am glad not to be the only one to have noticed this. Looks like Rolex info is being dumbed down like everything else. I have also noticed quite a bit of 'disinformation' (political term Ha!) on many forums lately. One exception is 'Xeramic' on VRF. That guy is sharp. Something else...it seems like there are more 'Frankensteins' claiming to be 'genuine' and 'all original' now than in the past. If I can spot one, it's just not too hot.
  6. This is a very healthy attitude to have, but I cannot tell a lie: I love sweating the small details! It's not so much the thrill of fooling a crowd of "experts", or the fear of being called out by that one actual expert (so annoying). The main object of the deception is me! I want to glance down on my wrist and convince myself for even a second or two: "So that's what that feels like." I think this black 6239 will be it for me, though. It's become so much harder and more expensive to pull off what we were doing in the glory days! But it's nice to keep tabs, and to reconnect with familiar names.

  8. With the enshittification of the Internet, I have come to the conclusion that "Searching" or even using "AI" to find quality Vintage Rolex Data has become a chore. Anyone else tired of the watered down data from Millenary, Bobs Watches, Brodinkee, Fratello.... They clearly got their SEO right, but the data is generally to high level. Search 6542 Albino and you get trapped in Brodinkee land. You would think in 2024 there would be a killer online Database of EVERY, Rolex Reference, Rolex Bracelet, Rolex Endlink, Rolex Crystal, . . . In 2008 you could search Rolex bracelet reference and get 'usable' spreadsheets. Now you get a $hitty link to Millenary with wrong data. 😠 Try asking an AI about the 6542 and it will conflate the 6543 Milgauss in its answer. Sorry about the rant/vent... Other than RWG, where do you guys go for quality Rolex Reference Materials these days. I am specifically interested in "Parts Interchange" data. Cheers! Edit to add: you also can't show up at TRF/VRF asking about Parts Interchange without raising eyebrows or upsetting the purists either.
  9. Yeah, still here too, but damn I miss the glory days of the late 2000's early 10's. Rep's have moved to Modern nearly 1:1 needing little to no mods (VSF/Clean/etc.). I still have a box of MBW, DW/Spinmaster Daytona parts I need to build out... As I have gotten OLDER, I own Gen's, Rep's, Homage's, Franken Projects. And when it comes to the reps/projects/frankens --- I no longer care about chasing every Correct Detail . I am too old to care about Called Out over crown guard shape, or some random detail. If the overall aesthetic is there, the build quality, I wear it and don't look back. Can it pass the- sitting in a dark bar, or @ the Sushi bar = good enough. 😄 My wife has a saying "Women dress for other women" [men generally don't care, as an attractive woman is attractive regardless the cloths] I think the Rep/WIS crowd are similar "Rep wears sweat every detail, for other Rep wearers" LOL. Keep the frankens coming!
  10. Trusty/Andrew is aligned with Ben/FinerLabels. Not my scene, but I get the emails from both Trusty-Andrew and FinerLabels-Ben. Looks like they rotated URL's, and I don't have the current one...

  13. I'm really happy about this beauty in pristine condition.[emoji3590] Gesendet von meinem 23078PND5G mit Tapatalk
  14. google watchmakers in your city & phone to see if they work on reps. I think you will find that many do. You might also ask for references to be sure they are not charlatans.
  15. Hi guys! Been off the forum for ages, got kids and have been focused on other things these last years. To the point I have a couple reps that need some work done to them and I have been putting it off since forever. Seems to me that the community has died down a bit so I need help to find a reputable person for watch repair and upgrades. I’m in EU. Appreciate it! Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Blasts from the Past... L to R...14K Hamilton 'Wesley' from the 1940s, 9K Buren Grand Prix from the 1930s, 14K Pierce from the 1920s/30s, 14K Lord Elgin with 'step side' case from the 1950s. The Hamilton looks like new. The Buren has a 15 jewel high grade movement with 'three finger bridges' and uses a 'sew on' or one piece strap, the strap bars are soldered in the lugs. The Pierce has 15 jewels iirc and is in fine condition. The Lord Elgin is in fine condition except for the 'age spot' on the dial, it has not been wet as far as I can tell. The dates are a guess and info on the Hamilton and Lord Elgin can be found but I am too lazy to chase it down. Many Hamiltons have the model name engraved inside the case back. After the current 'Gold Rush' pans out, there may not be many of these old classics left.

  18. I might have posted this before, can't remember. Anyway, this is from the early 1990s iirc, can't remember exactly when either. I have more, maybe I'll post a couple with dates. NOS Slinky w/box, American Racing magnesium/aluminum wheel catalog from the 1970s, Baylor 17 jewel RR style watch from 1970s, radiator tube from a WW II Lockheed P38 Lightning fighter plane, candy cigarettes from the 1970s (leaning over, far right), Bob Marley coffee cup from Jamaica etc. P-38 Lightning. 19. Thanks, horologist! I understand what you mean about the term "replica", but most people who have spent even a bit of time on the forums will know everything that it entails. Yes, there is that shady thrill of the forger's art, but pretty much everyone I've met is good and honourable. I've long given up on trying to do anything but the most basic tasks on the watch (seeing a 7750 slip out of my hands and fly through the air will do that), but I still get a big kick out of working out how and where to get parts for a project watch, and finding the right people who can help. Consequently, I have far more sentimental attachment to these reps (or "frankens" or "projects") than I do with my genuine pieces--with one or two exceptions, due to family ties. Which is my roundabout way of saying that none of the pictured watches are for sale! But thanks for asking, and I'll be glad to answer any questions regarding your own projects.

  22. Welcome back,! The beauty of this forum goes beyond the interest of replicas, but more so to the uniqueness of the members that are part of it You have mentioned a few, but there are more that I refrain from doing in case I miss someone! Over the years (now close to decades) ihave communicated with different members here from all walks of life where they have all donated a priceless contribution to making this unique and esoteric interest what it is! You wont find anything like it! It hasn’t just been about timepieces either! I think the noun “replica” does not do true justice to the true value behind what we collect ,build or are just purely interested without even owning one! These “replicas” can range from mass produced economy pieces no different from what you find in a legit watch store, to hand made finished ( aka modded) elaborate works of art! There is an education and skill wealth here that no university nor college can teach ! I doubt whether the best watchmaking schools in the world would elaborate on encouraging to go outside the square as most of the highly skilled artisans do here! Schools in general just parrot the usual dogma and stick to the script without improvising! As for who is still with us has always pondered my mind too, especially with every internet communication , unless a family member would inform us like Nanuq’s son did! These replicas like genuine branded timepieces measure life’s most important currency: “TIME” !, You can buy more gold, more land , more palaces, more diamonds, more oil wells and perhaps even more love! BUT you cannot buy more time! No 100 year old king can buy any young pauper’s years from him to live longer! What measures this precious asset? A timepiece whether genuine or a replica, so we treasure both! Thanks for keeping in touch and updating us with the latest!

  24. Yes, that's the one, J. The outlook for selling that one is not so good. Great to see you here! This place is not the hive of activity that it once was.
  25. Welcome back M! Was that Panerai your 082? I guess I won’t send you that yearly PM asking you to sell that dial to me. Great to have you back.
  26. NOS 14K Bulova from early 1980s... Original strap with 'homemade' 14K buckle... A jewelry repair friend and I made 5 or 6 of these buckles 20+ years ago. The buckle body was an unsigned stainless steel accessory buckle, the A-tron symbol was from an old buckle and attached to the steel buckle, then a mold was made from it. It took all day to make them. 4-17-24 Misc. gold buckles... The six bags at the top are from past watches. There is another box of gold buckles, .925 silver buckles, buckle tongues etc. somewhere but can't find them. Buckles in bag on bottom right are 16mm. Used to buy 14K buckles at watch shows, eBay etc. for $30 or $40 each...now they are $100 and up. Examples: eBay 115922672197 196346821333
