  1. I picked up this awesome build from one of RWG's finest. It was put together with all gen parts collected over a period of time as well as some parts from other similar builds. The parts show considerable wear (you can't fake this kind wear and tear) and the dial is patina heaven for me... of course YMMV, but for me they are beautiful (the hands too). The movement is a correct model Tudor 390 in great condition. All put together by Speedy. I have lusted a long time for a 7928 PCGs, but they have been steadily going up in price, so when this one came along... BOOM! Love those PCGs...

  2. Genuine rolex movements, crystals etc will fit Yuki cases. No telling what type of steel is in any replica case. If they lie about the name stamped on it, they will lie about the metal content. My BS Detector just went off. All BS aside, does anyone have proof that a Yuki case uses lower quality steel than a Phong case? If they do I would like to see it. I think these claims are made by 'dealers' trying to make a sale and posters according to their preferences, not facts. Fact... I like Yuki cases because they cost less than Phong etc cases. I like MBK cases because they cost less than Yuki cases (at least mine did). I like DW cases because they were 'only' $159. Common sense... Famous 316 stainless steel used in most cases is relatively cheap so it is probably what is used in the majority of quality steel replica cases. Some may use 304 or something else but there is very little price difference and both are resistant to corrosion...304 is used in kitchen sinks, cooking pots etc and everyone knows how tough they are. World famous rolex '904L' does not cost much either, it is not as much in demand as 316 so it sells higher. There is maybe $5USD or less (including scrap left over) worth of steel in a watch case at the wholesale level, probably less. If you do not believe it, go to a wholesale nut/bolt/hardware warehouse and price stainless steel flat washers. I bought five 50mm od x 25mm id x 4mm nominal thickness 'mystery metal' ss flat washers a while back that weigh 36 grams each and all 5 totaled $5USD including tax at full retail. The ss is pretty good as I have made quite a few bezels etc with them and they do not corrode and polish up nicely. A complete DW 5513 case with the case tube but without the bezels or crystal weighs 38 grams so figure out how much the stainless steel is worth...maybe $2 at most. Btw, DW claims his cases are 316 too. Q...How can there be hundreds of stainless steel watches on eBay from China for $50 or less with free shipping? A...Because they are so cheap to make. The ss in a watch is a very small amount of the total cost. The wear and tear/replacement cost on the tool bits probably cost more than the steel. If Phong, Yuki. etc were selling copies of a Timex case, they would be $15 with free shipping. They just cost a lot because they are 'exact' copies of very expensive watches.

  3. If it is a case you are after you might lower your expectations a little and maybe go with a Yuki case. Why? Because a replica is a replica (always will be) and a replica with a $600 case is worth just as much as a replica with a $1200 case. Take my word for it, these things are simply not worth much out in the real world. Do I have a Yuki case? Yes, sold one and still have two. Do I have a Phong case? Yes. What's the difference? Besides $400 or $600, not much imho. I am just trying to save you some $$.

  4. I happen to have a a Yuki 7206 and will quickly compare it to my gen 7206. For almost 1/10th of the price, you decide if it's a bargain or not. For all photos, Yuki will be on top, or on the left. Please keep in mind that my gen 7206 (circa 1967) has had 2 links removed and possible rebuffed at some point in its life. The Yuki is box fresh. First of all, initial impression was quite positive. Links are roughly the same length and the clasp coronet is not terrible: Macros of the Yuki however tell another tale. Yuki: Gen: Yuki coronet is a globular mess, whereas the gen has more distinctive spikes and balls (is there a name for the balls at the ends of the coronet?) The links of the Yuki are a fraction thicker than the gen. What makes the gen so nice to wear when coupled with the sleek lines of a big crown are the thin links. The Yuki is not chunky like a 93150, but it could shed a few pounds. As expected, the clasp stampings of the Yuki sucks donkey balls. Fonts are off and the blades are way too flat. They should have more of a curve: Side profile of the Yuki is not bad. It's about the right width, but the clasp itself is about 1mm too short. Also, it's puzzling why the micro adjustment holes are spaced the way they are. Its so me odd logarithmic scale. Anyhow, Yuki fails here on the hole placements: As far as endlinks go, the Yuki 80 EL's are acceptable. General shape and height are good. Could have a bit more definition with the two lines, but not a bad effort here: Overall sheen of the Yuki is not great. It needs a good oil bath and a proper buffing with my Bergeon 6085 buffer. The corone can/should be severely buffed to disguise its shortcomings. As for fitment on the wrist, it felt ok at first. The clasp opens and closes like the gen; in fact probably better than my 45 y.o. gen clasp, but something about the fit at the lugs felt off. Then I realized that the first link hinges a fraction higher than gen which means the first couple of links don't lie as flat on the wrist as the gen. Yuki on the wrist: Gen: So is it worth the $170? Given that there are very few alternatives out there for a nice rivet bracelet and a nice gen 7206 costs $1300+, I'd say it's adequate but needs some considerable buffing to get it to be acceptable. I may give it a try for a couple months and spare the wear/tear on my gen bracelet. All photos taken with an iPhone 6, no edits.
