Shoot!! That's bad! Phong is seriously overrated. Don't know why everyone says that his cases are 1:1 gen spec?! No they ain't!! Have you seen the thick CGs and lugs on pretty much ALL his cases?!! I could post at least x5 pics of different phong 5512/5513/1665 cases where the CGs are chunky as f""k and yet everyone is saying that his [censored] is gen spec. It's practically impossible to get him to rework the cases before shipping as you get the standard "no, nothing wrong with it....it gen spec" Feels pretty painful to offload $1500 for a supposedly 1:1 case only to find out that you have to pay a modder another $200 to make the CGs look remotely genuine. Arghhhh.

Well, leaving aside exotic cases as per your request, first thing to do is get a hold if a noob case. Buy a used 111, 005, 390, the older the better generally speaking. Lugs will have to be drilled to fit double screw bars (WSO are the best), crown tube hole will have to be drilled to accept the correct round crown tube (DSN has it, rolli might help you with this as well). Davidsen's pre-v crown is pretty good and the only option afaik. Crystal is better replaced by Davidsen's "french" sapphire. Provided you don't find a "fatty" CG (I couldn't find one in the last two years), DSN is your man for a pre-v CG also. Hands are not a problem, FGD hands will come with your rolli dial and they are your best option anyway. Contacting Jakob is no big deal either, he has his own section cover at repgeek. Good call. It is a beautiful watch in great condition but too small for my current tastes. The guy is a friend on TRF and has an amazing collection. Guess I either go gold or TT Daytona for a dress watch or look at JLC or maybe Glashutte for a 39 ish dress watch.
