  1. For my fellow Rolex lovers try this one: Radiomir 1940 512 can be had very reasonably. 42 mm no big a** crown guard or tricky wire lugs to deal with. Had one will get another wears very nice even under the cup , OK not tight French cuffs! (13.7)

  2. I can't wait to see what masterpiece of a dial you will be making for it. Looks like this case set with the gen crown/tube deserves the best, and together with a gen movement, and you basically have something (to me) the next best thing to gen but I would never call it a replica, more like gen with custom touches he he.

  3. Yes, hands are 150/90/25 and it's a 21600 bph so it looks like a good movement for the 1665SD http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&0&2uswk&ETA_2879 Just remember Ranftt- great source for specs on watch movements

  5. I dunno Legend, maybe it's because these things are big enough to choke a camel? Or the enormous baffling array of apparently unrelated numbers used to define what appear to be identical watches? You got your 018s and 178s and 104s and 604s and 309s and 409s and 427s and Hemis and ... wait now I'm talking about engines. Are these numbers based on any sort of meaningful sequence, or did they just attend a couple Bingo nights and record the winners? Let's just say THIS particular watch, right here on MY wrist, is pretty nice. The others? I'll withhold judgement (and commentary!) for now.

  6. Congratulations Bart, wear it in good health. Want to hear something funny? Part of me likes the case set without movement, dial, or hands, etc BETTER than a finished watch. Something about seeing all the possibilities that you could go with just kinda revs my engine. Maybe I'm a tad too deep watch-world, right?

  7. I also can't tell you if it's genuine, but others here probably can. However, from the purely commercial point of view ( since you say it's a dealer) you have possibly either found a complete ringer or a dealer who just shouldn't be in business given the internet access we have today and I doubt that, because 5 minuites on the internet will show up all sorts of examples for sale or sold. This link will show you what similar watches have fetched recently. https://www.collectorsquare.com/en/watches/rolex/submariner/ref-rolex-6538/lpi There are many other examples, so Is it possible that any competent dealer wouldn't know that? So, it shows a cse number of 383843. Have you checked that out first? That's where I'd start, although it's still no guarantee, as numbers can be fake, just like anything else.
