  1. So, my boss has a gen 1680 he picked up about 15 years or so ago from the original owner. IIRC, he said he paid somewhere around $1,000 for it. Last spring I asked him if I could take a bunch of pics as I would like to build a rep of it and needed some reference photos. He handed it to me and said go for it. As it turned out, I didn't have to build the rep myself. Instead I lucked into one already built up with a host of gen parts that I could purchase at a reasonable price. So, for comparison purposes, here are a couple of pics of my bosses gen and also of my recently acquired rep. Pics of gen are first, followed by a pic of the rep from a similar angle. For those that are interested, here are the build specs as I understand them. Case: Polex (laser etched 5513) Dial: gen Rolex service Hands: gen Rolex service Crystal: gen Rolex service Crown: gen Rolex service Crown Tube: gen Rolex service Bezel insert: gen Rolex service Movement: Gen ETA 2836 Bracelet: Tiger Concepts with WSO 580 end links and a TC 93250 clasp Pressure tested to 5atm by misiekped, who I also understand completed the original build. Let me know what you think. I also have more pics I will share later on in the thread. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  2. Verrrrrrrrrry nice. I know it's taking a step "the wrong direction" but I really love the look of a 702 crown on a 1680.

  3. Confusingly, no. TC are not Tiger Concepts. TC was a watch sold by a person whose initials were TC, and he had the unique position of saying that people who got a watch from him weren't customers, they were like-minded watch fans, that he was really only pursuing figuring out how to build the very best watch that he could, which is why people liked them and they continue to appreciate in value. They're harder to find now that he's stopped doing it.

  4. Within the next few weeks, I should be able to get them together for some actual side-by-side pics. That will be quite interesting. At least for me it will be. [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  6. "Rolex has a uniquely stringent view on what qualifies as an illegitimate Rolex. In their view, any modification to a watch making it appear other than it shipped from Rolex’s factory renders the whole watch counterfeit. This is their view, whether the replaced part or parts are aftermarket, or original Rolex parts. Change the bezel on DateJust from fluted gold to a Rolex stainless steel bezel? The whole watch is considered counterfeit, unless you pay a Rolex service center to change it back." According to that, a huge percentage of formerly 'genuine' rlx watches are 'Officially Counterfeit' by decree. So...one burning question comes to mind. Why not buy a 'Real Counterfeit' to begin with?

  12. After years of keeping this beauty in the box, finally made the decision to go for a complete mod closer to the real Jumbo even though it's still miles off. Torn down the ETA movement and did a complete overhaul. Gone with the seconds hand, mod on the cannon pinion to give a solid end, polished up the crown removing the PP logo - this is what the gen should look like. Alas, the hands are scratched but they were actually came like that, those scratches were not noticed as they were covered up by the seconds hand on top. Two pieces winding stem installed, so it will save all the hassles from removing the movement from the solid caseback now. If a folding clasp can be installed onto the bracelet it would be a step closer Some pics to share here. Hope you will enjoy.
