  2. I went out to cut a tree yesterday, hiked around the mountain and took a breather to snap a couple pictures as I went. It was -13F with gorgeous bluebird skies and not a breath of wind. Here's my "trail" And here's the approach to my favorite climb. Much easier in the summer!

  5. Puretime is a TD here, so no worries! Just look around at the dealers section, read the reviews and compare the watches from different TD. There are many threads about, so just step in, read a lot and you will find much valuable information here...

  7. Unfortunately there will not be a "good Sunday" or any other day, for these families, for many many years to come. There will never again be a merry Christmas. My family was victim to a triple homicide and no holiday has been "merry" since then. It tears the heart right out of the season. My prayers go to these poor people on this day.

  8. It has been postulated that we yanks have a love affair with guns (yes we do like them) but the real love affair is with our rights & freedoms. Yes the cost is sometimes unbearable in any rational mind ( i question my position constantly in my mind after such a tragedy), it is a high price we pay in the blood of the brave on the battle and the lose of innocents at home. At what cost freedom is the question. I can neither guarantee freedom with guns in hand nor stop such acts with them being outlawed. I do however guarantee that without them eventually we will be at the mercy of the governments ever expanding role constantly eroding our freedom and also that the criminals & deranged will find a why to get them or use other means to do harm.

  9. Comments like this, are the reason there is never a reasonable discussion on these things. Try it in YOUR country and let me know how it works for you.

  10. Where are you from? Not America. Guns sold everywhere in every store. That's a ridiculous idea. They weren't even his guns. They were his moms. Look. He's nuts, you can't regulate craziness. It's a tragedy, as a father I'm appalled. I don't like the idea that we trust the police to have firearms but not our citizens. As you said the rate of mentally ill people that kill people is low, so this type of thing happening in a country with 300,000,000 people is low, yet it does happen. What's to be done? What would work, do we want to just make knee jerk reactions and hope for the best or can real tangible progress be made without trampling people's rights and freedom? That is an argument I'm willing to engage in.

  11. i think you need to be aware that the links to the _trusted dealers_ are fully open to the community in the lobby. If your "trusted dealer" is anyone else, you are missleading in your use of the term "trusted dealer". Other users take note: this is probably NOT a safe source and NOT the safe way to acquire the watch you want at all! if the trusted dealers approved on this forum would give out promotial codes they would announce so over their email newsletters and in their respective section of this forum. moderators please look into this. i call scam / bad intentions on this by looks of posting.

  12. This guy's mother had registered: semi-automatic .223 Bushmaster assault rifle, two pistols (Glock and a Sig Sauer) and two other weapons. Explain to me a world where that's a NEED for a teacher leaving in CT??? And apparently she either ignored or had no idea on how to keep those guns safely away from a 20 yo kid (btw it's illegal for that kid to carry an assault rifle in CT so his mother should know better than to leave that thing unlocked). I wonder how many mandatory certification/recertification courses she went thru to get all that unnecessary fire power. oh yeah, right, requiring that for her to buy those things would interfere with her 'rights'. I think the right discussion in this country is not to repeal an amendment or ignore a gun discussion because it's politically charged. I think it's time to discuss what are the responsibilities and accountabilities required for someone to own a gun. It will never be 'get rid of guns' or 'let me buy any gun I want without supervision'. We need a serious and CONSISTENT set of rules here. If you want to drive a car you need a certification that not only you're qualified but that you also understand the laws and regulations. If you violate those rules you can lose your license, go to jail or both. However when it comes to guns not even a discussion about that is allowed here. Absolutely twisted.

  13. I have dual citizenship. I lived most of my life in Canada, with the last 20 years in the USA. I don't own a gun, and I don't like guns. This tragedy may partially reflect liberal gun laws as the Finland massacre (http://j.mp/Xql6Ua'>http://j.mp/Xql6Ua), but Finland is no Superpower. Canadian comments here are typical of the Canadian perspective but they don't understand the gun issue in the USA. I used to think the same way. The 2nd Amendment is about trying to keep a sovereign 'democratic' nation. It's not about personal protection from animals or even other individual citizens. It's about defending the nation from tyranny from within. The notion that if a tyrannical government arose, which oppressed citizens rights, that her citizens would have in place the means with which to rise up and take back their country (how effective would that be in these times is unknown). Canadians, and many other progressive nations do not comprehend this notion to this extent. And after witnessing the U.S. political system first hand I can say I understand this desire much better. Watching U.S. politics from outside makes one just shake their head and think, 'stupid Americans' but that's not the simple case. It's way different down here my fellow Canucks. The challenges are far more difficult than you can imagine. It takes a village.

  14. Ken, thats exactly what politics and gun lobbyists try to make us say......! Saying that it must stay unpolitic, is the best way to politicise this thing. It's the way they want to make you stay in this status quo. It makes their game! If he hadn't had a gun, he wouldn't have been able to shoot 27 people. And YES, it comes with the fact you can buy your gun in the department store, next to the grocery! I am 33 years old, I never had ANY of my friends or knowings who had a gun in their house, I never knew somebody who got shot. Why? Because arms are illegal to wear our in the open and because they are not sold in every store! And because there is NO reason to walk around with a gun, unless you are a police! And to be clear, the rate of mentally ill people who kill is incredibly low! Around 2 to 3 percent! At least in UE. AMERICA HAS TO TALK ABOUT THIS AND DO SOMETHING JUST RIGHT NOW! Ken, there is nothing obscene in discussing it and more importantly in preventing such a thing ever to happen again!

  15. I will leave this discussion with some eloquent words from a man much wiser than me in regard to freedom & the price payed. Executive Mansion, Washington, Nov. 21, 1864. Dear Madam, I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. Yours, very sincerely and respectfully, A. Lincoln How do I correlate today with this statement, with power comes control with control comes lose of freedom. We still have power armed, we have little without. How many of our sons have been laid at the alter of freedom abroad, only to give it away at home at the behest of the mentally ill. For what else can you call a man who would commit such a heinous act. I grieve for those slain and there families but let us not dishonor them by laying down our arms in our grief but strengthen our resolve to live free such as there sacrifice is not in vain.

  19. Not in Canada my friend. And the constitution was written long ago. The right to carry guns was meant to protect the population from wildlife and hostile natives. Its stupid to keep harping on about the stupid constitution. Its outdated!!

  20. Seems like the perfect time to debate gun control

  21. That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Guns certainly are the problem. If your country is inundated with firearms there is a huge chance that many will end up in the hands of criminals and mentally unstable people. Americans are just plain stupid. You've let the NRA become one of the most powerful influences to government and they've brainwashed you. Just look at the levels of gun violence in Canada, and the only thing that separates us is a chain link fence. United States: 9,369 Canada: 144

  22. To be a true replica collector... you will NEED to accept: NO replica is 1:1... EVER in the entire history of replica manufacturing!! They cost less for a reason, replica manufacturers use lower quality materials (steel, titanium, gold plating... etc) and also much lower quality control and craftsmanship. Sure, some replicas look VERY close to the genuine, but in terms of exact 1:1 cosmetics or quality of materials, no such replica exist. Another fact: NOT every replica that you purchase will be 100% scratch or dust free inside the crystal when you take it out of the box like on your genuines. WHY?? = Massed produced + low cost + limited minimum resources. If you are someone that demands a watch to be sent back to China because of a 0.1 micron scratch under the letter "E" of OFFICINE on the movement.... or, send the watch back demanding a replacement because you can see a speck of dust inside the crystal with your hubble 1,000,000,000,000,000x microscope.... or demanding a refund or report to PayPal because your replica is not true 1:1 when compared to genuine... then this hobby is not for you. Stick to buying genuine, they have warranty plus some will replace bracelets, straps or other parts for free under warranty. And YES, they will definitely last for more than a year. If you want to buy just 1 (ONE) "ULTIMATE, SUPER DUPER 1:1 replica INSERT WATCH HERE"... because you believe that it is the HOLY MOLLY GRAIL of reps.... 2 things can happen: 1. You WILL be disappointed when you find out your ULTIMATE, SUPER DUPER 1:1 replica that you paid 345usd for is not so ultimate super duper 1:1. You will be angry and bitter about it, report seller to paypal, cops, your mum, etc and never buy a replica again. 2. You WILL be disappointed when you find out your ULTIMATE, SUPER DUPER 1:1 replica is not so ultimate super duper 1:1. But, you will be quite amazed on how close it is and feel the love and passion of other members here because they are oh, so close, and share the urge of owning another.... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another............... until you are BROKE!!!! Once you accept these FACTS and are willing to play the customs roulette and could live with the imperfections in replicas (cosmetics, scratches when new due to poor handling etc).... you will become a true Jedi Warrior.... I mean, a true Replica Collector!

  23. I agree 100%. If you are new you need to read, read, read. Look at lots of photos and then decide if the rep world is for you. If you are so caught up in perfection, you cannot stand anything outside of 100% then this isn't your game. If you are so impatient, and so in to instant gratification, you want your watch delivered Yesterday this isn't your game. If you expect the dealer to return your email(s) that you are firing off at the rate of 2 per hour, within 30 seconds of sending, this isn't your game. If you don't have or refuse to have a Plan B for the occasional rep that arrives with dust or a missing screw, or obviously needs a service, this isn't your game If any of the above happen your first reaction is anger, your second reaction is to file a Paypal dispute, THIS REALLY ISN"T YOUR GAME!!

  24. This is cool and correct. But even as a rep collector I appreciate quality! That is why I never buy reps from "Ali Baba at the beach of Nice" etc. Even though it is fun to look at the very poor reps, and you can understand how easy it will be for the Italian police to caught you with reps on your wrist. Our Trusted Dealers are having the higher quality. And that is how Fendushi's second statement comes true! I owns gens, but also reps... So, I am on the Second Statement! 8-)

  25. No Fendushi speaks from experience. And now more than ever, with better reps so freely available the hobby seems to attract ever more "money for nothing and chicks for free" entrants. It is a great time for rep collecting. The reps are beautifully done but expectations can get out of control. Of course I am curious why it comes up now.....
