  1. I guess on principle you are right. But I am pulling up to the restaurant in a 23 year old Mercedes although I am owning more than twenty gen watches
  2. Ooops, I ordered the very very very BEST version from Andrew a couple of days ago. He promised that the watch will come with sapphire crystal on both sides. Did anybody purchase the watch? Will I get a truly nice item? As far as I know it does have the 117 serial no. But does it have truly sapphire back and front?
  3. Hey Lancelot, I assume you've got a steel case 165? I am planning to swap the steel case for the correct Ti case. But actually I don't know if the mvt. will fit. Maybe your 165 case is a bit higher? Would you do me a favour: Maybe you've got a handwind pannie, too? Could you please compare the height of the cases? I am not yet owning the automatic 165 but still researching before I go to realize my 165 project. Thanks a lot, best Frank
  4. John, I thought the automatic mvt. will not fit beacause of it's height and a raised case back will be needed? As far as I know the common case backs (44mm models) are "flat". Cheers, Frank
  5. Hi, does anybody know if the height of a 44mm case which was made for the handwinding pannies will allow to fit also an automatic 7750? Thx
  6. But often the most expensive way I've gotten the same idea of buidling a correct 165. Please note that the correct dial version just comes with that cheap 21j. mvt. The dial fits the asian and also the swiss 7550. Swapp it and throw the asian mvt. away. But the feet of the dial have to be cut off (wrong position). By the moment I am trying to build an accurate Arktos. Same problem: Best case and dial version come with the cheap 21j. watches. My problem is that I don't know how to fix the bigger 7750. Maybe the height of the mvt. will be a problem, too. I'll try to find out but maybe somebody can help?
  7. Hey kuba, that's a truly nice project. Congrats and of course a really interesting photo story! I'll try my first strap project soon: Having some snake and croc pieces in stock.
  8. Hi, after disassembling my (asian 21j. mvt.) PAM092 for installing the new cyclops I could see that the cyclops at that watch is "integrated" into the crystal. No chance to improve by swapping for the new cyclops. Because the case of the cheaper asian Arktos is mucher better (bezel and inserts are closer, case is brushed and so non) I am planning to change just the crystal instead of purchasing the 7750 version with all it's flaws. Does anybody know where to get an inexpensive sapphire crystal for that watch? Thanks Frank
  9. @olreon: Do you know if that size will also fit the PAM092 Arktos rep? Thx Frank
  10. @poopy: That's the only reason why I wasn't in yet. The mvt. doesn't matter but that lousy 117 comes with all watches, no difference.... Maybe we will see a change in the next future as on the PAM serial numbers.
  11. Mark, please keep me updated. I would be interested in one mvt. for my MM watch. Maybe you can send a pic of these items? Pm appreciated. All the best Frank
  12. Congrats! That's a truly nice strap. I am owning a similar one which is from BOB. Thickness is 5mm!!! Nice!
  13. Hi Mark, that's a truly important advice. Thank's a lot for that. Do you know if the dial and especially the hands (diameter of the tubers) will fit an asian 7750 (b1)? I am asking because I am owning an asian (21j.) 092 which looks better (bezel and especially black hands are more accurate) and an asian 7750 which has got the better quality. Maybe I'll make one really nice watch from both. I would be happy for a furher input Cheers, Frank
  14. @ r11co: Thanks for that advise. I'll assemble the new cyclops first and see how the improvement is. Building an additional lens in to the dial would be a special job I am afraid. Furthermore I will need a fitting lens for that. I guess it will not be that easy to figure out which part will fit...
  15. @ Tommy, I would be happy to meeting you next week. Of course I will be in for the "fatties" especially for my 029. See you Frank
  16. Hi Marco, thanks a lot for informing me that completely. I will wait for my two new cyclops and will check out th eimprovement after installing them. You are right: The date image on the 050 is quite better as on the 092. But as you know we watch collectors will never be satisfied... Always hunting for the ultimate improvement. All the best, I am looking forward to receiving th new lenses and I am getting exitited Frank
  17. Hi dachshund and Hi Marco, Thanks for your input. You are right: By the meantime I read it in another thread (don't ask me if TRC, old or new RWG): Bigger distance between lens and date wheel makes a better image than the other way round. Just my mistake. Therefore it doesn't make a sense to glue an overlay on to the date wheel. You're right, dachshund. Marco: As you know I am in for two cyclops. Do you think the replacement of the old lens for the new one will satisfy me especially on the 7750 models? I mean without putting an additional lens between the cyclops and the date wheel (it that be understood correctly)? Thanks again Cheers
  18. Hi all, First: Of course I ordered the new Cyclops to improve my pannie reps. And I am hopeful that the date image problem will be completely solved by adding the new 2893-2 date wheel. But this just belongs to my pam029. Regarding to the other PAM reps especially the asian automatics and asian 7750s I think the bad date magnification isn’t depending just on the Cyclops. It rather seems to be a problem of the depth of the date wheel. For example I am owning a PAM050 and a PAM092 Arktos. Both (rep) watches are damn close to the real deal and are great keeping time although both have got asian movements. Furthermore both are waterproof (tested). But that lousy date image is driving me crazy . It is not so much the date fond as the whole date image: There is no clear image, it is too small and couldn’t be read in most ankles because it is distorted and shows reflections. I can just assume that a replacement of the old Cyclops by the new one will improve the image it a little but the depth of the date wheel seems to be the real cause. I am thinking about two solutions: Firstly: Purchasing and assembling a swiss 7750. The date wheel is actually closer to the dial. But of course this will be the most expensive choice. Secondly: May be there is a chance to heighten up the date wheel of the asian 7750 e.g. by gluing an overlay on to the asian’s date wheel stock? By comparing both (naked) mvts. I can see that both (swiss and asian) do have the same height and diameter. But it is obviously that the date wheel “sits” deeper in the asian mvt. Because of this I assume the dial should also fit after gluing an overlay on to the date wheel stock. Maybe I am wrong? Is anybody on board who could share his experiences? I do not mean throwing the damn watch into the garbage can and purchasing a non-date watch… I would be happy for an idea. I know I am not alone with that problem (you’ll find my thread over on TRC, too). Please don’t refer me to The Zigmeister ‘cause he isn’t available ‘til late summer and I won’t take his well deserved time. Thanks in advance and all the best Frank
  19. Hey frankt, I would care for your broken Omega, c'mon let that baby out of the drawer to a new and nice home
  20. Hi Rick, I've got a brandnew ti crown guard with thicker lever in stock. pm sent.
  21. I never went for reps until summer last year. I am collecting watches for 17 (seventeen) years. All watches are vintage chronograps in a damn nice shape. But when I took a look to some reps last summer and followed all improvements and furthermore the discussions on TRC and RWG I decided to buy my first rep which was a pannie. Folks, I was that impressed by the quality and the low prices and currently my rep collection includes 9 items, all fully modded by myself and for reluming work by the gurus. I guess a gen pannie (e.g.) isn't worth the money especially if you want to own more than one or two watches. But there is one rule (it is just my own ): I am just looking for really high grade reps which are nice basics for modds. It means: The right mvt. (e.g. 2893-2 or 7753), sapphire crystals, solid gold parts for the TT models and a lot more. Of course I am still liking my gen babies but hunting for the nicest rep and modding it to perfect while I know the gen costs about 1'000% more keeps me smiling Just my 2 pence
  22. Hi, as told by former pm: Please count me in for one date wheel for my 029-2893-2 THX!
  23. Hi Rob, have a great time! I also sent a pm.
  24. That's good news. I am getting excited and my 063 and 050 are waiting for that final upgrade
  25. Actually the genuine Breitling straps come with a steel buckle. You can choose a polished or a brushed one. I bought that diver's strap for my gen Avenger chrono a few weeks ago and the buckle is brushed steel. Titanium isn't available. The diver's strap is 22mm/20mm sized. I will change the rubber strap from time to time for a shark skin strap or anything else. Hope that helps.
