which crystals dont have to be glued in? and how different is the height between the ones that do and dont (have to be glued in) which I assume was the reason for settling for the 342 and gluing it
-
yes, what is the function of the chrono on this piece? is it like the original? and what is the crystal material? thanks

Good ol' speed stick by mennen. old spice gives me a rash

thanks for ALL your info guys. I hate reinserting crown stems into movements, and wanted a more precise way to do it with out having to do it unnecessarily since im prone to dislodging the keyless works internals. and thats a REAL pain in the [censored] to reset especially once your watch is done and all that's left is putting that damn crown in for the last time. I find the keyless works to easy to screw up, but more so I wish there were a way to repair it from the bottom instead of having to go under the dial. thanks The Zigmeister for the rounded stem tip, I always grinded it dead flat, and I suppose that's why my last crown fitting resulted in stripped crown threads.

I was wondering the best way to measure a stem for cutting to fit the movement and the case for length. brand new stem, ETA movement, and a TAIWAN Sub case. How do you calculate the length it should be to fit properly when pulled out to time setting pos and to the crown screwed down. any rules of thumb or methods to calculate this?

What do people think about the new Sub 'Taiwan case'?
highoeyazmuhudee replied to metaljesus's topic in The Rolex Area
yeah I kind of notice that as well. whatta wast of money I guess. Also virtually impossible to recess an insert in this bezel ring. guess there is NO substitute for a BK WM9v2. my MBK is close but even that has a problematic bezel ring height issue. -

YUP. defntly HAS the 'Z'ubmariner printing in the flesh and the fat crown guards, and the solid link bracelet. that's where the similarities with wm9V1 end. wont accept gen crown, wont accept gen crystal, insert or bezel ring, or even a retaining ring, tried parts from MBK also. NOTHING. IT IS A "SUPER NOOB" -Noob in construction, "SUPER" as the rehaut is good, the laser etched crown isnt as bad and the date mag is perfect and it's a proper thickness case with a nice feel. too bad it TRULY ISNT 1:1. CAVEAT -
UNI directional AND a GEN crown doesnt fit. 16610 is NOT 1:1

I have to say I purchased this case set from PROWATCh POLO. the crown tube is like the noobmariner AS IS the bezel assembly. after removing the bezel ring it was constructed like a noobmariner with the teeth forged out of the bottom of the bezel ring and 3 points of click around the case base. Which means NO 1:1 gen construction or interchangeable parts. UNLESS wm9v1 is like this, this ISNT wm9V1, its a super noob, and severly screws up my modding plans.

that is a VERY nice sub! MBK I assume ...what dealer did you use?

frutta. if you mean the bezel ring with the insert than its pretty easy to push on. If you mean the whole assembly thats slightly more difficult but not very. you do need a way to press on the retaining ring over the crystal tho and thats probably the hardest part, also aligning things correctly if you're anal about esthetics, as I like the click spring to sit at a certain point and the bezel insert triangle to sit in the ring between certain coin edges on the ring.

I was WARNED NOT TO buy the wholesale outlet assembly by BK. for $40 MORE than that price I just bought the WM9v1 case and bracelet with everything in it. ONLY excluding the movement of course... BUT I had a spare ETA. the only thing i've bought from wholesaleoutlet is their bezel inserts, which have inconsistent quality in the print between orders, so I may NOT even buy from them again.

I noticed the OP has yet to chime in...probably off enjoying his watch not noticing the bickering.

Date change clicks 1/2 way over
highoeyazmuhudee replied to highoeyazmuhudee's topic in Movement Q&A
hmm, DIDNT think of that. I did notice before tinkering with the spring that the wheel that flips the date wheel to advance (date corrector?) raises at about a 10 degree angle. is this normal or some plate not holding the date corrector down thus losing some energy in the incorrect angle? -
Date change clicks 1/2 way over
highoeyazmuhudee replied to highoeyazmuhudee's topic in Movement Q&A
well i fixed it. i bent the wishbone looking spring further apart to offer the ability to store more energy before it snaps the date over and that seemed to give it the release it needed to push the wheel the FULL date ahead. also reshaped the little triangle spring that interacts with the date wheel sprocket as it appeared to be bent too far upwards. Hopefully this is a lasting solution. The quality of the asian clones are very rough compared to my genuine eta, i only learned this once i disassembled it. thanks for your interest The Zigmeister and taking the time to offer your help. -

Date change clicks 1/2 way over
highoeyazmuhudee replied to highoeyazmuhudee's topic in Movement Q&A
well i disassembled it and reassembled it about 5 times with no progress, sometimes making it worse and not click over at all, but rely on the date corrector to push it the full way. perhaps you see something i dont: .i dont have a macro lens. -
Date change clicks 1/2 way over
highoeyazmuhudee replied to highoeyazmuhudee's topic in Movement Q&A
I removed the dial and the overlay, staring at the bare datewheel only make it between dates until it gets dragged over the spring and locked in the rest of the way 8 hours later. Its like the spring that pushes it to click over in one motion doesnt have enough stored energy to complete its job. -
Would anyone happen to know why a 2836 would click the date 1/2 over 16hours into the day then completes the full click over at 24hours? instead of just at 24hours. im trying to fit the hands for midnight click over and when i scroll through the day in time setting posistion this happens. this IS a clone movement btw. maybe thats normal for clones? but i wouldnt think so. thanks all

+1 for a Hackintosh since they share common hardware installing OSX on a PC is now possible...ALL of the mac, NONE of the price. I can't fathom HOW someone can buy expansion RAM from APPLE, when they can get the EXACT SAME SODIMM module from their local computer shop for 4X LESS.
