Generally reps will fall into categories which greatly impact price. Best out of the box reps will be BK or TC but you will spend over $700 for a piece with a few gen parts.
Basic rep with lots of flaws will cost around $300. Any of the dealers listed here can supply.
Finally, a franken, which takes a rep and adds significant genuine parts will cost even more depending on the level of modification and the specific genuine parts used.
I have a similar build but the movement will need service. I added a full gen auto wind assembly and a few other gen pieces, but the finished product is wonderful
If you go modern buy a merkur. Not too expensive and a great tool.
For your first I would get a vintage Gillette. Cool pieces and easy to find. Just be sure the blade door is tight and closes evenly. I probably have a spare if you want one.
Try a variety of blades. There really is a difference and you are the only judge of what works for you.
Try a soap stick from Arko. You will be shocked at the price (crazy cheap) but the product is great.
I have badger and goat brushes. I don't see a significant difference.
Yep! Need to find a sub booklet and anchor, and it's finished. Build specs are
ST case, correct for 16800
Yuki 3135 with complete gen auto wind assembly and several other gen parts.
TC bezel assembly
Gen dial, gen hands, gen dw, gen crystal
It's got a TC bracelet now, but am adding a gen 93150
Ephry73 did much of the work. Another member did the movement work.
Build took a long time, but I think it is nearly perfect
I've been looking at multipe sources to try to verify which box is correct for an early 16800. I have seen photos of watches claiming to have original box including a moon crator box. Does anyone know what would be the correct exterior box?
