  1. Perhaps I could clean up a bit........
  2. The only auto with Tritium gas tubes I know of is Ball,,,,However, they have some very nice versions starting around 1,000 usd.
  3. I haven't seen it, but I'm really into watches with the tritium gas tubes,,,,seems like a great idea for those that are lum freaks. I've seen several watches with this (like luminox) that are less expensive than the S and W and look a little better IMO.
  4. Thanks,,,,the study is still open and I will not formally look at the results until dec. at which time I will post the results. It's a friday and I've had way too much wine to respond coherently but a results section will soon follow. BTW,,,the results of my first study was actually published online by science and consciousness review...http://www.sci-con.org/
  5. I would say a four,,,,but some of it depends on the movement itself. The 6497 is pretty simple, but I'm not sure I would feel as comfortable doing the same level of work on a 7750.
  6. I can't do it, I almost bought a luminox today. I liked the looks and the gas tubes that keep it totally visible at night and it's cheap.....but a quartz? I just couldn't do it.
  7. Something seems to be wrong with the keyless works, it will not wind. I can probably fix it just a bad run of luck. I can't wind it but at least it looks good...
  8. Thanks, the strap is very nice, a Maestro. Unfortunately the movement already took a dump. , man, I'm starting to feel a bit unlucky with watch movements. Did you ever feel like selling the whole collection and just buying one really nice, totally reliable watch?
  9. thanks for the fast reply,,,,,,this is very helpful and specific to tell the company when I send it back. I don't want to try it myself until I finish the second level TZ course. this forum is so cool...
  10. I've had several watches with a 2824 but my movement knowledge is limited to the 6497. Here is the problem. I have a gen with a swiss 2824 but when I wind it, the rotor moves and it feels very sticky. This only happens when it is going clockwise, the crown feels very smooth going counterclockwise, so I don't think it is the stem or case tube. My first thought was that it winded fully, but it does this even after letting it sit for 24 hours. I sent it for repair and it came back the exact same way but it wasn't doing this the first few weeks I had it, it was always very smooth as my other watches with a 2824, so,,,any advice before I send this back another time. Could this be normal?
  11. After reading The Zigmeister's review of this movement, I was concerned but thought I would give it time. Well, after a few weeks it was loosing about 4 mins a day, bad enough that it needed some work. I admit, the necessary work with the hairspring was too much for me, so I replaced the movement with one from Davidsen, which I think looks pretty good, it looks way better in person. Also, I changed the hands. I like the blue hands but they are impossible to work with, any light touch looks like a scratch I ended up tossing both of them. I gave the dial a light touch of matte varnish and replaced the screw down crown with one from davidsen. When I got it, the plastic crystal was totally loose, I could remove it just by pulling on it. I glued it down with some crystal glue, nice and tight now. I may get other blue hands or keep the gold. It came out pretty well IMO.
  12. There were really two,,,,a tag 2000 series quartz which I picked up and then almost the next day got into the bond seamaster which I had for years.
  13. Let's not forget the very first Rush song "in the mood" (different drummer than Peart). Nothing but cow bell!!!! I wonder what that guy is doing these days?
  14. Why did it have to have good lum?????? Now, I'm going to have to find some way to buy this.
  15. I almost put this on today,,,,(got it from Narikaa). It's nice but I'm having difficulty changing to a rollie. I did put it on for 20 mins this morning only to change to my xxl railmaster at the last second. Now that I'm looking at the pic,,I should have kept it on.
  16. I know the AR is a real issue and give away,,,,but I'm trying not to think about it since everything else is so close. If I get called out on it, I'll just say I paid extra to have it removed,
  17. As far as the clasp and diver's extension goes on the PO model right before this one, I have to say it was perfect. In fact, I found the clasp to feel a little better than my gen seamaster clasp. I hope the bracelet stays the exact same on this new model.
  18. Yes,,,but trying to put it out of my mind. However, I have to admit I haven't had my 201a on lately because it's been waiting for this.
  19. Looks great, can't wait for mine to arrive....
  20. I just put a cheap rubber strap on my 45, doesn't look too bad but I wish I waited another week for the new improved version.
  21. I know it is kind of silly,,,,but I already have the money put aside for this one. I think the 007 seconds hand is very cool. Not that a real secret agent would ever have anything close to this, but hey,,,,none of this stuff is real anyway....
  22. this looks perfect,,,,,,damn,,,I just got the older version two weeks ago. Now what?????
  23. The crown has to go, but think of it this way. That is one of the simpliest mods and after, this will be one of the best 111h reps out there. I'll probably get one.
  24. Its pretty close to the Unitas, I always have to check with a loupe to tell the difference. The difference is in the bumbs and groves not in the size from what I can tell. I will not be back in town for a while but can send you one when I get back (I have a few doing nothing).
  25. I don't think they score very high on originality, but the rest seems good
