  1. This is one of those brands I think I missed out on. Although I've known about it for years, only recently have I been into buying. I just picked up a used incusor for 300 (usd) which will arive in a few days. Seems to have the same overall feel as Panerai, swiss movement, good lum and WR to 200 m. I've read the other posts on the airman, just curious if anyone had general comments on the incursor or KMU? Any pics would be appreciated.
  2. LOL, actually I'm a huge fan of Ramachandran. In fact, most of my work is just a take on one of his ideas. In fact, I need to get back to this project, about 250 people took part in the survey and I need to get on it instead of playing around with my panerai's.
  3. probably one of these....
  4. Thanks,,,,,,I considered a few things as markers,,,and certainly the idea of a single diamond at the 12 but she wants it really simple. And I wouldn't want to be accused of making a replica
  5. While year 9 doesn’t have the same impact of next year I thought I would do something that might make all the time I spend on watches pay off at least a little. This is the basic watch that comes with the first timezone class with a basic case for the 2801. I sanded down the dial and used some textured black paint which I think turned out pretty well. I was going for something like a movado look but with something unique to it. She wants silver hands, which I will get soon and replace, but overall I think it looks interesting. And it has the first movement that I put back together sucessfully.
  6. My method of cuting the lugs seems to work very well. A strap change is actually easier than any other watch right now. The only bad thing is that because the metal moves just a little each time, who knows when it will just break off.
  7. great work,,,,very impressive. the crystal looks perfect to me. What dial is that? Davidsens?
  8. Davidsen's 1938a, with a slight change of hands
  9. I think getting the texture of the gen dial exact will be very difficult. It has depth like a sandwich dial, but almost like the lum was carved out after it was applied. Seems like it would be very difficult to get right.
  10. I also have the older version, but I'm very tempted to see if I can just buy the new dial and replace it.
  11. Very cool post, great work.
  12. probably any one he wants....
  13. I've seen the gen in person, I would say it wears like any 47mm pilot watch. Since it is thinner than, say the pam 187 it doesn't feel like a brick on the wrist. I'll probably wait and see how this version is before I buy and again, think about the gen.
  14. I've noticed this as the resale value on the gens is pretty low. In fact, the only reason I may not get the rep is because I've seen the gen in perfect shape go as low as 1700 usd.
  15. I've been waiting a long time for this one to come out. Overall, I think it looks pretty good to me. This could be my next one...
  16. Words worthy of being framed over my watch table
  17. Great work which I'm not sure I could totally appreciate until I gave my attempts at doing some lum work myself. All this stuff happens at such a micro level it makes painting on a postage stamp look easy. This stuff is so unforgiving and seems to have a mind of its own, it is impressive to see someone bring it under control. I'll stick to the sandwich dials for the next year or so.
  18. This is not helping my tempation.
  19. I liked the first post on this watch, but with the display caseback, I admit it is very tempting...
  20. I'm having the same reaction that the old "rich" couple in that episode of Senfield had to the painting of "the Kramer", something like, I'm repulsed, yet I can't look away.
  21. I probably don't spend enough. Although I know a strap can make all the difference with a watch, I get "cheap" and would rather put the money in upgraded parts for the watch itself. I think the most I've ever spent was about 70-90 (usd).
  22. I wish I could remember, I think I got it free with some watch. If I ever find another, I will be a dozen or so. The yellow one on a dremel worked miracles on some seriously deep scratches I thought I would get out.
  23. I'm not sure there is just one "cape cod" cloth. I've had a yellow one that was dry and worked great. It totally took a brushed case to polished. I also have a few pink ones that are wet with some vanilla sent, IMO, these do not work nearly as well. It takes forever to get a scratch out. With the yellow one, even a decent scratch would be gone in seconds.
  24. It looked gen to me but I'm not rolex expert. There is a whole post about this going on about the lugs. Let's just say I got out the dremel. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=12665&st=0
  25. LOL, too early to get out the cowbell and celebrate,,,,,,another glass of wine and I'm going to make my own display back using a dremel. Finepics,,,,,,wow,,,,,,,,,,,,that looks great. Obviously our two projects are on different levels. Very impressive work.
