  1. Could it be that prices are driven up my retailers of these reps because it's difficult to get them pass customs in their respective countries?
  2. I've also read a bunch of different opinions on this issue too. Some of manuals state not to change the date between 10 pm to 3 am, but that's for chronos. I've also been told/read that for non-chronos this doesn't apply. Before learning about this I used to set the date all hours of the day and night without incident so I really don't know if this is an urban legend or not. Maybe some of the experts will chime in on this one. Oh, the reason they say not to set the date between those times is because that's when the date is changing and if you manually set the date you can cause the gears to grind.
  3. I'd agree with you there if the line of communication was reliable, but from my experience so far it's like sending smoke signals. You send em and pray they see em.
  4. Yep, my Seiko's and Orient Star's glow like a torch. Much better than watches that cost 100 times more. I love my Seiko's/Orients. Plus people (Rolex snobs usually) drop their jaws when I tell them that Seiko's been producing time pieces longer than some Swiss companies.
  5. Most definitely! If you haven't checked out the quality/refinement/value of Seiko's you're definitely missing something. I'd check out the Samurai and FrankenMonster too.
  6. This looks fun... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Sorry not too great with the left hand. Guns courtesy of almost a decade in uniform. Oh, that's a PAM113 on a SS bracelet. Now the gratuitous pics of some other guns. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Enjoy!
  7. Thanks for the follow up rodwc. Like you said, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Great job at giving it a go. Now I'm 110% sure this is not for me.
  8. I would have thought the same and before coming here, I thought they were all rep'd from originals. I don't understand why anyone would even think to make a knock off from a picture. That's sort of non-intuitive no? Sort of like having sex in the third person.
  9. Please lanikai, please. This old dog can't take anymore.
  10. I rent her out by the hour. I tried to sign up for that wife trading reality show, but no cigar. They said I'd have to take her back after the show.
  11. Let's hope so for everyone's sake.
  12. I'd like to state for the record... I live in South Central, Inglewood to be exact. I have 12 kids and in their teens and all of them are ex convicts on parole. We have lots of illegal automatic weapons all strewn over the house. My wife works part-time for WWF as a wrestler and her other job is a bouncer at a local bar. Vic's dogs were all donated to our family and all enjoy the run of our single bedroom apt.
  13. Agreed. I guess since criminals are those who take advantage of other peoples' situations there certainly could be some on any forum lurking and waiting for an opportunity to strike. Hopefully some of them will meet a fate befitting of their actions. z
  14. Whoa! Where did you get those desk stands? By the way, are those gen stands?
  15. TJ, I'm not as gentlemanly as you are. I'd just like to see this guy get run over by a school bus, but that's just me. LOL. On a serious note, I've never really thought about theives lurking on forums to pick out their victims. If that's the case, there are a few of my good buddies on gen forums that should be busy buying Vic's dogs. I guess just like everyone else, even theives have moved into the 21st century. z
  16. I just can't wait to see how this will turn out. Things like this gives me false hope that I too can one day do stuff like this.
  17. I'd rather just post up pics of my large gun collection and my medals. That really blows for this guy. I noticed that he mentioned the sentimental value part, which is priceless. Having been a victim of theft I know how bad it can be. I hope the guy finds some resolution.
  18. Don't say we all didn't warn you.
  19. Sure thing pitman. Make sure to let us know which one you decide on and post some pics!
  20. Wow! What a collection!!! Is that a custom box that they're all sitting in??? Awsome. Thanks for the pics!
  21. You'll have to wait for an expert to chime in about movements. It's all Greek to me (sorry). I've read, and been told, that most watchsmiths can do all the work you listed, but I'd stick to the "experts" that most send their watches to on this forum. There's a reason why they're swamped till next x-mas. Remember... patience
  22. One thing I can recommend gabriel is to start off this the less complicated stuff first, i.e. models with less frills and thrills. They tend to have "less that can go wrong" thing going for them. I've noticed that the more "stuff" on the reps the more that "can" go wrong. You might want to look into the base models. Good luck.
  23. I too am anxious to see the progress of this. Thanks for the thread rodwc.
