I'm wondering too...regulars who don't contribute bucks
Ztech replied to crystalcranium's topic in General Discussion
Ok, I'll throw in my 2 cents as I've have an opinion towards this subject. There are a few reasons why I haven't donated to RWG and become a contributing member. They are as follows in no particular order. 1. Just have been lazy. Yeah, I know doesn't seem much of an excuse... 2. At times I feel "pressured" to contribute towards this forum (I'll expand on this later). 3. I personally jumped in to this rep world with both feet first and had a bad experience and now I've become cautious of getting more involved. This, of course, has nothing to do with RWG, but it's made me a bit more jaded with regards to pouring more money into reps and the rep world in general. Regarding my comment #2. I won't mention names, but I've probably contributed/purchased/donated a few bucks into raffles and such on other forums. Really, it's not about the money that I haven't contributed, but I have run into instances where I've been targeted with sly remarks about contributing. I feel they were completely uncalled for and uncessary. Personally, this has given me pressure that I feel shouldn't exist. I agree with everyone on how valuable this place is and all the great members I've already gotten the honor of knowing and learning from, but I don't agree that such comments should be directed at any member whatsoever. Sure it's true that this place is invaluable and that those who feel "compelled" to show their gratitude can, but I don't agree that people should feel "obligated" to do so. I'm a member of many forums and so far I've yet to be pressured into donating a penny. Now I know I will probably catch a lot of flack for my comments and my sentiments, but I can only be honest with regards to my personal feeling on this matter. Don't get me wrong there are times when I feel the heck with it and think I should just donate to get it over with, but then I realize that I shouldn't be pressued into this or anything else for that matter. So, all this has at times made me want to part ways with the rep thing entirely, but in all honesty my curiosity get's the better of me and I continue to return. Who knows I may just throw in the contribution so that I can proudly become a "true" member, but the fact that this issue exists pushes me off into the sidelines to look from a distance. -
Please please please, can somebody rep this?!

Agreed 100%. -
I hope they rep this one soon. I'm not particularly into dress watches, but this one looks awsome!
-
Is that a rep or a gen? I think that thing looks awsome.
-
Hmm... ok. Then how about a PVD'd one to add to the collection? You'll have to excuse the fact that I'm not up on the model numbers.
-
Hey Laz, why not look into a PAM 127 fiddy? I know they're hard to find, but man the case and the x-tal give it such a distinct look compared to the other 44mm cases. I highly recommend looking one. I think the fiddy is a MUST in a PAM collection. Good luck.

Wow! Thanks for that link. Looks even better than the SS version. I hope they rep this one.
-
I really like the look of that case. Very nice for a first project!

I think dovo is referring to buying new gen pieces via an AD or online (black market) stores. From what I can see in his OP, he wasn't referring to buying "pre-owned" from private parties. Since it's his first gen purchase, I say he gets the "full" buying experience and wheel & deal with an AD. That way, he can get the bracelet sized and walk in if things go wrong. I mean for your first gen purchase wouldn't you want that benefit too?

Here locally, 35% discounts off of retail are common for Omegas.
-
If you're dead set on your first gen I'd suggest you visit your local Omega AD and deal and wheel to get the price down to where you're comfortable. You probably won't get down to the internet price of $2300, but you may get very close to say $2500. For peace of mind and the warranty, I'd pay the extra $200 and be done with it. Especially since it's your first gen. Look around, there are a lot of AD's that'll work with you on the price. If you can't find one local shoot me a PM and I'll give you the number of the place that me and a lot of my buddies do business with. They're usually good for awsome discounts. Good luck.

IMO, a watch can definitely be sexy!
-
Simply awsome! Seeing projects like these gives me the motivation to one-day complete a project of my own. Thanks for the pics and enjoy!

Personally never opend up a mini fiddy, but seeing as it's a screwback case I'd assume it's the same procedure as the others. Remove the caseback, unscrew the movement holders and then slide out the movement. Good luck and someone correct me if I'm wrong on this.

"new" rep site? Anyone bought there before?
Ztech replied to llsteve80's topic in General Discussion
So any more feedback/experiences about this dealer? Just out of curiosity. -
Yep B&R made a big jump in price recently. Nice if you've got one already, but bad if you had your sights set on one. I've got a gen BR01-92 and I love it. Was going to pick up another but with the price hike I dunno now.

Try a search. I din't it was Dudro that bought two and did a thorough write up on it.
-
I don't reallly have one favorite that I always wear. Most of my watches are on a rotation and get some sort of wrist time. The one that is always my go-to watch has to be one of my gen Omega's. Either the SMP or the PO are always "right" for any occasion, whether it's the board room, BBQ or a bar.
-
The bezel ring is glued on to the bezel itself and from what I remember you need to "pry" it off the bezel. Use an extremely sharp knife to gently pry it off. It takes patience, but it shouldn't be too difficult. Good luck.
-
From what I know, there should be one version offered by our dealers here. You can do a search, but it's a general consensus that it's one of the best reps around.
-
Give it time delta, it'll pass. It always does...
-
In terms of reps I got my eye on that new Graham Swodfish in PVD. In terms of gens I'm really considering giving in and buying a gen PAM111, but I'm not really sure about this one. I think I'll need more convincing.

So i really have to pay this much for this Hublot?
Ztech replied to sylove76's topic in Other Brands Area
The one you're looking at puretimewatches is the "light" version which is much cheaper than the other ones you're looking at. You'll have to wait for the experts to chime in on why it's worth that much more money. Try doing a search, it's been discussed often. -
Hey TeeJay, Is River located CONUS? z

Yep, not working for me too.
