  1. Glad to see everyone's responses. I think we all have our picks of which ones will be safe queens and vice versa. I don't really have any safe queens anymore so all my gens/reps get their turns on the rotation. I figure, I bought them to enjoy and by God if I'm not get my $$$ worth.
  2. Welcome and let's see that collection pic.
  3. Welcome and enjoy your stay.
  4. That one there makes me want to pull my hair out. Simply awsome!!!
  5. One thing I don't appreciate with Doxa is their hike in prices of late. I know that with them going the mainstream route they'd have to hike their prices since there would need to be something in it for the dealers, but I didn't think it would be that much. Great watches though for sure.
  6. That's pretty much how I treat all my watches. Gens or reps. I mean I buy them to wear and enjoy not to admire from afar. Although those times when you ding or scratch them does hurt it still doesn't take away from the fact, for me, these are quality time pieces designed to take the punishment and still keep on ticking. This is one of the reasons why I sold all of my really expensive watches. When I had my GP Seahawk Pro II and I scratched it, it made my heart stop. LOL.
  7. I think what "really" get's you is if an accident happens when you first buy the watch. Rep or gen. I've had it happen to me with a gen within 3 days of purchasing it and that pain is similar to shooting yourself in the foot. Pain only stops when you dish out the $$$ to have it returned to as new condition. Hope nobody here experiences that.
  8. I've had this happen with my gens before. After the cursing and bashing of your head against a wall for a few minutes it passes and you realize it's a watch. Yes, it does cost a pretty penny, but still you can have it repaired. Good point about reps though. You bash your head against that wall a lot less with reps.
  9. Wear it in good health = Live long and prosper. Spok style.
  10. First, congrats on the upcoming wedding TJ! I'd really go with the Patek with a tux. I think it'd be the more stylish combo of the two.
  11. Check here they have them. http://www.internationalwatchman.com/
  12. I'd say the first one. In my experience those long pins tend to bend if they're too long. The first one seems to be the best of the 3 to me.
  13. Welcome. Before you jump in I'd suggest you do as much reading as possible. It really helps lessen the pain of the splash. Enjoy!
  14. Welcome and enjoy your time here. It's a great place.
  15. I read the OP and was about to post my thoughts and then I see the other folks on here have already posted a response similar to what I was thinking. Yes, I do and can understand your feelings towards reps, but your sweeping generalization and stereotyping have no place here. Nor anywhere else for that matter. In all honesty, you seem to come across just like those "people" you describe as being superficial. If you're not, why care about what others think of you? Enjoy your time here, but please do keep your personal feelings with regards to those issues at home. We're an international community and consideration for others is a must.
  16. There have been a few detailed reviews of the Kingfisher model on a gen forum and from what I recall, they all said it was a great value.
  17. Welcome and enjoy the forum.
  18. Ok ok, how about a very good rep of that new Seiko space watch that they're making in limited numbers.
  19. I'd like a rep of any, mind you I said ANY, of the Victoria Secret girls before I kick the bucket.
  20. LOL F15DOC, Welcome to the world of reps and watches in general. You'll get used to the ebb and flow of this obsess... umm... hobby. It seems about time that you start building that Bat Cave in your house so you can carry on your secret life without your wife being the wiser. z
  21. Wow! Simply amazing. Enjoy that beaut.
  22. Hey a huge congrats! Hope the twins are your wife are doing fine.
  23. He does still make watches. I know because a guy named Shinichi sells new RXW's on a gen forum from time to time. They are Japan only models so warranty issues apply and they're released in small numbers. I know for a fact that the MM20 models are no longer produced due to a law suit from Panerai, but other models (homages) seem to be coming from him from time to time. Also, his web site seems to have gone undercover also. Good luck.
  24. So are they really gen parts?
  25. They looked polished SS to me. I didn't se any brushed hands. Am I wrong?
