  5. I think you can find information on this forum about the different movements. From my experience, it's not always the case that you need to service a rep watch immediately. Most of these rep watches are alright. Best to get ones with ETA movement and perhaps not get the complicated movements for starters if you are worried. Chronos are more prone to problems from my limited experience with them. I've had a rep watch that I wore for 5 years without breaking down or needing any service. Your mileage may vary of course. It's hard to predict how long rep watches last,it's bit of luck of the draw.
  6. lol. come on not on Qantas;it's the one airline that hasn't had a fatal air disaster;touch wood.
  7. I'd thought so that the pilots would wear Breitlings too given their usually bigger than the average joe's salary. If I travel through different time zones I usually wear a quartz watch (Kenneth Cole, pls don't laugh).... I'd add too that a number of Sales Managers (in the IT industry) that I've met wear Rolex (usually subs).
  8. G'day Oztag ! I'm from Melbourne. Btw Lani's from sunny Hawaii.
  9. Like to get a feel if you have observed any watch brands for a particular profession? I've seen that Rolex seems to be very popular for Qantas air stewards and have seen various Rolex models worn by them from Air King to Daytonas though I can't tell whether they are reps or gens. I do travel a lot on Qantas so that's my observation.
  10. For some dealers they don't publish that they accept PayPal , you will have to ask them. And if they do you must not mention what the item is to protect their account. No harm asking. I have done that before and it's better than WU. It's quite easy for them to lose their PayPal account if someone is stupid enough to mention reps in the transaction so they prefer to use WU or MG.
  11. In Singapore,if I remember correctly try the People's Park Complex in Chinatown for used Rolex and other used watches. No reps but you might find a bargain for used Rolex. They do have other brands but Rolex is the favourite son.
  12. Hi Mike, Did your friend buy the cables from an online site or was that in a store? If it's through a store then we're doomed.... pan man
  13. Just want to put it out here that there are lots of fake iphones and ipods ,for that matter all forms of electronic devices including cameras that are fakes being sold through web sites from China. What irks me is that these companies claim that the good are original when they are not. At least for the dealers here selling replica watches there is some honesty that the items are just replicas. Most of these websites are scam sites , so when you find a deal that sounds too good to be true, you have been warned. These sites usually never accept payments from credit cards or PP, mostly either western union or money gram where there is no traceability.
  14. My uncle who's a jeweller used toothpaste to buff off silver jewellery that has oxidised to bring it back to life. I've tried it and it works. Great tip on buffing crystal too.
  15. Hi Lani, So where can we get this bezel insert from? How much for them? Pls advise. pan man
  16. Merry Christmas all!! Feels like home here
  17. hi, do what you enjoy doing and have a passion for. what did you do in the uni anyways? is that something that you can apply? if you have money then put it in real estate. i don't think anyone is saying you should not go into working in a restaurant if that is what you like;just go in with your eyes open and know what you're in for. don't think you should chase any high growth industry; in any industry there will always be ups and downs. today's growth may be tomorrow's basket case. just me two cents.
  18. Thanks for your reply offshore. Would it be fair assumption that the movement can be easily replaced by say a swiss eta movement by a 1/2 decent watchsmith at least?
  19. Hi Before taking the plunge on one of these new reps with the rolex clone 3135 movements, I like to know from the forum members if a regular watchsmith be able to service or repair these type of movements if there should be a problem? If it is a repair job would they be able to source the parts readily? Cheers
  20. Hi, Both watch seller and strap seller can be recommended. Cheers pan man
  21. certainly enjoyed your review! excellent job. question : is this http://www.silix-prime.com/bres059-p-2263.html a V1 or V2? I know the movement is not the same but I like to know if the case, dial etc are V2 or not? Thanks
  22. for the majority of the people even your current method will not be that easy as most of the reps do have some resemblance of the movement. It's until you start disassembling the movement that things become more obvious but how many watch owners would do that? i think the next chapter on this would be: 1. Take watch to local AD, have them inspect the movement....
  23. Thanks for your advice Mike. May have to do the same.
  24. I don't have personal experience working as a chef but I've heard that a lot of master chefs are a bit like gordon ramsay - they swear a lot at their staff. so if you can't take that then it's not the right job for you. 20 is still early. some people decide to change into food career when they are 40. so it's not too late to start.
