I never tire of this beauty....
-
Must say I'm surprised (or am I?) at all the typical examples given here. Rottweilers, Dobermanns, Pit-Bulls, Staffordshire Bulls. All governed under the Dangerous Dogs Act in the UK. And rightly so. I know Dani can rant for Norway on the subject, but Alan touched on an important point. It's down to the owners how a dog behaves, there is a responsibility there, one that has been abused and ignored by a certain class of owners, hence the legal clampdown. I have no doubt that there are proper owners and breeders of these type of dogs out there, but you've had it ruined for you by those types who see these dogs as a 'weapon' something to carry around to threaten others and compensate for their lack of penis size. Media not helped but what do you expect? You never read "3-year old girl savaged to death by golden retriever" over your Sunday breakfast do you? Talking of golden retirevers, where are the labradors, Scottish terriers, Westies, Afghan hounds and others. Why is RWG such a hotbed of Rottweilers and Pitbulls? Thank God for Alan and his poodles, that's all I'll say

You had me at 'poodles'......as in had me cracking up with laughter Offshore owns poodles.....that explains a lot of things now I think about it
-
Since I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about here, I'll assume it's directed at Dani?

Sorry mate, I'm a cat person But if I were forced to choose the best example of the generally needy, smelly, slobbery species, I'd go for a Weimeraner. A friend has one and it the most serene, elegant and friendly of mutts. Never heard her bark. When he goes shopping with her, she waits outside in a Sphinx-like pose. Very cool.

Nothing surprises me anymore my Alaskan chum, not even the Spanish Inquisition I was actually following a listing a few weeks back of an almost identical 6542 bezel/insert, except the bakelite was in better condition than this one. You want to know the final price? $23,000. I guess someone thinks (probably correct too) that he'll add that and much more on to the value of his 6542 with a complete and original bezel. I expect this one will fetch around the same. Insanity, but that is practically the motto of the vintage Rolex market these days

Any interest for Rolex Vintage Tritium Pearl?
docblackrock replied to takashi's topic in The Rolex Area
I'd definitely be interested in one - just broken my tritium pearl putting it into the insert - acrylic casing just crumbled, these things are old you have to remember Our HK seller, whatever people say did NOT supply genuine NOS pearls, side by side the difference was clear trust me. And the lume he's filled in here looks speckled, not a good or accurate look. -

"Interesting" maybe, but aesthetically pleasing? Nope. -
Yep. He's wrong.

Oh but this IS the final step - I already have a nice, accurate, very low domed acrylic (hesalite) crystal on my Speedy Couple of things - I'll wait until a guinea pig sees if the gen caseback fits the rep case - I know the size is accurate but the tolerances are always a [censored] - a quarter of a mm out or thread screws slightly unaligned, oh we all know the pain. The other thing, I notice the 50th Anniv rep is for sale on ioffer - with solid caseback, decent enough but at $120 you're paying the same price as a gen caseback for a crappy rep - and even then no guarantee it will fit.
-
Of course, if you don't want to buy the gen, then....no never mind......oh ok then......you sure?....alright, there's always THIS: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Only problem is that watch (the same crappy asian Speedy someone referred to earlier) is LONG discontinued, Jay has confirmed that to me recently, so no parts, yet another dead end C'mon you didn't think it was going to be that easy did you?

Another Skyland thread: Water resistance
docblackrock replied to importr's topic in The Breitling Area
With screwdown pushers, you at least have slightly improved odds of resistance given there will be less 'passive' water entry into the case apertures. But yes then it's ultimately down to the gaskets and whether they are up to scratch - you're always going to get problems I think. Especially since you have no protection if, underwater, one of the pushers is accidentally engaged. You mentioned swim - which says to me you'll need more than a dealer 'promise' of WR - washing hands, even a shower would be out of the question before even sealing her up like a clam. An He valve can be locked down tight, but chrono pushers are an accident waiting to happen IMO. Good luck though. -
Another Skyland thread: Water resistance
docblackrock replied to importr's topic in The Breitling Area
It's got non-screwdown chrono pushers. That should be your first clue. Water resistance is NOT the same as waterproof. It'll survive a rainstorm but taking it for a swim is insanity. -

docblackrock replied to jjfesq's topic in The IWC Area
To me the CD2006 was perfect, the 2007 not as nice (too much orange) though, but this is disgusting (blue/yellow?). Can't wait to see what monstrosity the CD2009 ends up being IWC ought to realise there's more to 'updating' a model annually than just mess around with dial colours. Very odd strategy if you ask me. -
Great job Tourby I'll take: 1 x SS 0,9 crown 1 x SS 1,2 crown 1 x Ti 1,2 crown

black rubber strap with the deployment clasp
docblackrock replied to juicy's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
No. The Aquaracer-family rubber straps have always utilised a tang buckle only. TAG Heuer simply don't make what you are seeking. The only rubber deployment straps are the ones used on the racing Carrera and the new SLR - both of these use the foldover clasp that was developed for use with the leather-strapped Heritage/Classics line (Monza, Monaco, Carrera, etc.) -
Take one pair of falconer's gloves... Add welders' goggles.... Stir up with a thermic lance.... Add in a clean pair of Kevlar underwear... Season with one bottle of single malt Scotch, at least 20 years in age... Failing that, suggest you go down to your local watch battery and strap monkey, and get it resized there for the sake of 10€. Will save you all of the above 'experience'

Cousins do indeed have them and very reasonably priced too -
