Condolences Neil - even harder if you're half a world away. Take care of you and yours.

Do not fail me JTB After all, if Kobenhavn can do it.....
-
Hmmm, a fellow countryman r11co?
-
Oh the suspense, the anticipation, will he won't he stock it? Depends if he wants to take at least 50 orders or not I suppose Whilst I applaud Neil's unique reputation re. attention to detail and customer service, this time I say 'just put a bloody order number up there' and let the rest of us worry/obssess about AR, pearls and the like

You can run but you can't hide so keep looking over your shoulder, the long arm of Doc stetches a long way believe me. I retain a couple of koala 'sleepers' for occasions such as these p.s. we do have 'big boy' degrees here now, except we only have them in single figures

Ah if only Ken, look at me ligging around this thread, patiently waiting for you lot to stop gibbering about places and dates like girls and just bloody meet up and post some bloody photos with lots of sun and surf in the background!!!! Please? I effing hate this cold and dark we Norther Spherer's have to put up this time of year. Either that or you could "gently coerce" CS into actually making that Aussie sunshine skin - if he can spoof one, he can bloody well make a real one I say

Interesting Save From The Charity Shop...
docblackrock replied to rmcsherry's topic in General Discussion
OMG, I think you and yours will be having a very merry Christmas indeed Can't wait to see photos - no idea on the JLC but the minty Rollie sounds like this BB model (sans 'Asprey' of course unless you're REALLY lucky) -
Poor poor DBS Personally, I'd have run her over for not being able to hide her French accent.

Got me too Doc =>

Missed that one - I guess that's the nearest colour to Mighty Red he could find! Poor old Ged - the orange bezel I could forgive (like Cheyrou) but not the orange leather (the 'El Hadji Diouf') . BTW Rafa may wear a sensible Tag Microtimer but Mrs Rafa (aka Montse) is a bit of a watch fan and every time we win a trophy Rafa has to buy her a new watch as penance/gift/thankyou - I hear she has a penchant for JLCs and Pateks. (Rafa's bank manager ===> ). Oh and Fabulous Fabio Aurelio (our new Brazilian *cough* errr, 'defender') wears a gorgeous PAM 090 , the weight of which seems to prevent him tracking back beyond the halfway line Ok borefest over....zzzzz....sorry r11co

Probably just travelling Maybe resend email after a week?

We did??? Aaaaahh, you wee joker you
-
Oh there's definitely a couple of beers in this one for sure - I did wonder about the pinball boy and the blonde sidekick plus a few other bits left dangling (excuse the pun ). We'll have to do a mini-GTG sometime, maybe even invite/convert JTB Oh and don't worry, I crap on both threads equally

Trust me, I've spent last 3 months pestering several dealers about the 22mm rubber strap to no avail. One even confirmed that the makers of the 20mm SM rep strap refused as they didn't think there'd be enough of a ROI on this one! WTF? Maybe now the film is out, and the 22mm PO is in wider circulation, they'll reconsider? BTW, if you want to stump up for the gen, my AD quoted me 160GBP with buckle, and an eye-watering 360GBP with deployant (that's 300USD and 700USD respectively). The AD manager smiled apologetically as if to say 'yes, Omega are taking the [censored] somewhat'. I asked 'do I get a free watch with that?'
-
Thanks to r11co for providing the 9-month anticipation/excitement Took my GF last night (she saw the trailer and the ocean/trunks scene, what can you do? ). Finally a Bond who looks like he can actually do some damage, a [censored]er you wouldn't want to mess with (well he is a fellow Scouser after all ) unlike all past encumbents with the exception of perhaps Connery who will always be 'Classic Bond'. The other leads don't even rate, Craig is THAT good in both action and the more sedate poker scenes. A bit of dodgy editing in terms of plot loose ends at the close I thought but then I'm picky like that Got a nudge in my ribs and a wry smile from her at the Rolex/Omega line . Anything else? OH yes, since I have two 22mm POs on the way (both 45mm, one a chrono ) and even though I've pestered several dealers about the 22mm rubber strap (since the gen is 160GBP with buckle, and an eye-watering 360GBP with deployant ), I'll shout it again... CHRIST HOW DIFFICULT CAN IT BE TO MAKE??? I NEED THAT 22MM RUBBER STRAP NOW!!!!!!!!!

A Cool Photo Tour Of The Rolex Factory In Ch That I Found On Tz....
docblackrock replied to a topic in The Rolex Area
Hmmm, sometimes the fantasy does not live up to the reality and looking at those photos reminds me of some post-war industrial gulag with the depressed-looking worker bees in their soulless factory sweating blood to make watches their wages can't afford (although they probably get a company Datejust after 20 years service ). Personally I'd want to believe my GMT was put together by six-foot-plus naked blonde Swiss milkmaids using platinum thread, a unicorn feather and a generous sprinkling of fairy dust - anything else quite frankly is just not good enough Incidentally I've seen pics of Tag Heuer's equivalent facility, which in contrast looks a lot more 'cosy' and more like a biochem lab than anything else. And I have a (lucky bastard) AD friend who's had a personal guided tour of Patek HQ including the watchmakers facility, he said he couldn't even begin to describe the wonders he saw there -
Black Date Wheel White Font For Asian 21j?
docblackrock replied to Slartibartfast's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I'll take a couple too... As long as they're 6 o clock wheels of course -
Euno, can you confirm exactly what other dimensions are needed aside from the very basic case spec? Width 40 mm (excl crown) / 42mm (inc crown) Lug-to-lug 48 mm Case thickness 13.5 mm. I have a professional acquaintance who has a 1655 in his collection - I've never seen it sadly as he is a bit of a safe queen but a nice guy. I'll probably see him next in the New Year, February I think (congress) but I could email him in the interim.

Vintage 1675 (looky What Santa Brought Early)
docblackrock replied to rbj69's topic in The Rolex Area
I meant case mods as in case profile, lugs, rehaut etc. - I would have thought that requires hard core machine milling unlike a hand dremel and some polishing compounds for CGs. Or am I wrong? What was Paul's base case like to start with? As an aside, here's a nice pic of gen pointy CGs... -
How Can I Tell If Submariner Instructions Are Gen?
docblackrock replied to kasigi's topic in The Rolex Area
Easy there feek, all I meant was that AFAIK there's no demand for repp'd booklets as gens are everywhere. I'll have a look at the book I got from my AD friend and let you know if there's anything particularly you should look out for ok? -
How Can I Tell If Submariner Instructions Are Gen?
docblackrock replied to kasigi's topic in The Rolex Area
Does it really matter regardless? Assuming you bought the booklet out of interest rather than some attempt to sweeten up a potential sale package? These booklets are all over the bay and are normally very cheap - aside from some vintage booklets (early 70s not 90s which some sellers describe as 'vintage' ) which I've seen go for a couple of hundred or more -
Yep no progress - also on my list and came up whilst Randy and I were discussing ongoing 1675 works. Just can't seem to solve the 'decent base case' riddle right now (aside from finding and paying $$$ for gen)
