  1. Hey Alligoat, Do you have a picture of the squat coronet crown with a wrapped construction. I have been looking for one for a long time but have yet to see one. If you do that would be great!!! The crown on my gen Sea-Dweller has the squat crown, but doesn't have the crimped construction. It is original and has not been serviced. All of the references I have say that it should have a 703 crown, but they list the 704 as monobloc. Thanks!!!
  2. I have still yet to see a "703" crown with a crimped construction and modern style coronet. All of the ones I have seen with the modern coronet have the monobloc construction. I did have a 5513 serviced by RSC a couple of years ago and it came back with a 703 crown and tube. I would think they would use the correct period crown as long as supplies allow.
  3. I would say that the first 3 crowns are the newer monobloc 704 crown and the last 2 you pictured are 703.
  4. Hey Guys, I recently acquired a Valjoux 726 movement and didn't know what to do with it. I am still wanting to build a 6239, so the recommendations were to swap out the Valjoux 72 movement in my 6263 and put in the 726. Well, after servicing the 726 it is now ticking inside of my 6263. Now I have to get everything for the 6239 I also put a MBW bracelet on my 16520 until I get the funds for a genuine bracelet. Anyway, here are the pics (sorry for the bad quality). Thanks for looking!!!!! a pair of valjoux movements valjoux 726 valjoux 72 6263, 1665, 16520 Box Shot (top row: MBW Red 1680, Transformer 16710, BK WM9 V2 16610) (bottom row: DW 6263, 1665, 16520) 16520 wrist shot
  5. Great job!!!! I am going to have to remember this thread. Thanks for sharing!!!!!
  6. I am looking to get one myself and am going with #3.
  7. Thanks guys!!!! @chieftang I initially started making the holes for the pushers larger so that they would sit in the case deeper, but I noticed the tops of the pushers getting shorter when screwed down as I went deeper. I would have needed them to go deeper and decided that it would not look right if I did. It may not have been the right choice or the easiest, but it was what I came up with that seemed to work. Will keep you posted on that.
  8. Just a small update: I was having a hard time getting the pushers to fully press the start/reset pusher extension. I was going to modify the pusher but decided to make a new, longer pusher extension. I pulled out the lathe and milling machine and think that I got one made. I fit it to the movement and it worked like a charm. It started, stopped, and reset like a charm.....or so i thought. I let it run for about an hour with the chronograph running. When I reset it, everything reset except the hour totalizer. It seems that the reset pusher presses far enough in to depress the minute totalizer and chronograph, but not enough to reset the hour totalizer. So....I am going to modify the long extension pusher to fix that when I get some time. Anyway, here are some pics of the progress so far. Thanks for looking.
  9. That is a beautiful watch!!!! Thanks for sharing it with us!!!!
  10. That sure is a beauty. I was reading the linked thread in your signature and was wondering what dial did you ended up using?
  11. Thanks for all of the replies guys. There are indeed some very nice examples on this board (most of which inspired me). I have the dial and hands mounted and now have to figure out what to do about the pushers. I think that I have a solution but just need some time to work it out. Anyway, I have been getting several questions as to why I used so many genuine parts. The best answer is ease of assembly. I would rather not broach hands if I have to. Plus, I didn't know a lot of the genuine measurements when I started. One of my goals was to have a 2 position stem, instead of the stock Zenith 3 position. I knew that the clutch lever was the main difference so I changed that out. I used the Zenith set lever and date corrector, but the date corrector wheels weren't meshing deep enough causing a rough feeling when setting the time. The combination that fixed the problem was the Rolex clutch lever, set lever, and intermediate setting wheel). Clutch lever (Rolex on left) Set lever with date corrector/intermediate setting wheel (Rolex on bottom) Keyless works Ready for a dial Dial on Hands in place I also wanted to give the measurements that I got from the different parts cannon pinion (for minute hand) Zenith .98mm Rolex 1.08mm hour wheel (for hour hand) Zenith 1.49mm Rolex 1.59mm Chronograph wheel (for chronograph seconds) Zenith .21mm Rolex .25mm Running seconds Zenith .21mm Rolex ??? (don't have one but it is probably .22mm) hour totalizer Zenith .23mm Rolex .22mm minute totalizer Zenith .22mm Rolex .22mm
  12. Hi Guys, It seems like my projects always seem to drag on forever. I think that I have most of what I need to complete this one and check it off of the list. The only thing I am missing is a genuine bracelet and I have a lead on one. Anyway, here is a list of what is going to be used: Zenith 400 movement with genuine Rolex center wheel, chronograph wheel, minute counting wheel, cannon pinion, hour wheel, hour counting wheel, hour counting wheel bridge, setting lever, yoke for the sliding lever, rotor, and intermediate setting wheel. The last piece of the puzzle was the intermediate setting wheel. Thanks again Chief!!!!! Phong case (while not perfect, it is better than others and cheaper than a genuine) Genuine bezel Genuine pushers Genuine crystal Genuine dial and hands (not crazy about the way Rolex is packaging their new dials) Genuine monobloc crown and tube It has taken me a long time to get the funds up to do this project and I know a lot of you will ask why do it. I enjoyed the search for almost impossible to find parts and the joy of putting it together myself. Anyway, here are some picture of things so far. I will post more when I have them and keep this thread updated. I have also measured the Zenith and Rolex pivots for all of the hands (except Rolex running second hand) and will post that later as well. Thanks for reading and comments are always welcome (good, bad, or ugly) Parts assembled New dial New bezel Case assembled with genuine crystal, bezel, pushers, crown, and tube
  13. The watch looks great!!!!
  14. Thanks for the recommendation!!! I have a feeling that this will happen in the end. i just have to muster up the energy and courage to do it I was a little concerned about the auction myself until I saw the movement pics. That is what made me throw in a bid, but I didn't think I would be the only one to do it. I will be interested to see how much the watch that looks the same ends up selling for.
  15. The 726 is indeed a 21,600 bph movement. I honestly think that it would be more trouble than it is worth to swap the movements out. There will probably be more errors with it in the end that the wrong movement will be the least troubling. Plus, the only one that would probably know would be me .
  16. Will do Freddy. Thanks for the recommendation. I was quite surprised that I won it. I was the only one that bid on it. We'll see if it was a good move when I get it.
  17. Hi Guys, I just got a watch that has a Valjoux 726 movement in it and was wondering what I should do with it. I already have a 6263 with a Valjoux 72 movement (which I love). I was hoping to do a 6239 after seeing so many great builds. I had been looking at Valjoux 72 movements, but surprisingly won a 726 instead. The purist in me wants to take out the 72 in my 6263 and transplant the 726 into it and use the Valjoux 72 for the 6239. That is a lot of work and The Zigmeister did great work on my 6263. I was hoping to do most of the work on the 6239 project myself. Would you keep everything as is and use the 726 in a 6239 or would you go through all of the trouble? Thanks!!!!
  18. That is a beautiful build. I love the faded insert. Wear it well!!!!!!!

    new 4030

There has been one on VRF for a few weeks. I think that it started at $6000 and is now listed at $4000. The picture is down now, so i don't know if it sold or if there are server issues. This is the first one I have seen, and I would doubt they would go for less that $3000 used.
  23. Thanks Freddy. I have been posting on both of those for about 2 months now. I don't really have any local Rolex dealers but have a few contacts that I have received parts from in the past. No dice. Thanks for the advice though!
  24. Thanks!!! I am not aware of an aftermaket counterpart, but I would accept either at this point. Thanks again!!!!
  25. Hi Guys, I am really hesitant to ask this on the board, and mods please feel free to remove it. I was wondering if anyone has a contact for spare parts. I am looking for the intermediate setting wheel for my 16520 project (part 4030-251). I am have been searching the net for months with no luck and have exhausted all of my usual contacts. If anyone thinks they have a contact that might have it or can get it, please PM me. I'll owe you a big one!!! Thanks!!!!!!
