  1. Thanks for the info!!!
  2. Hi Guys, I am thinking about doing a 16520 project and have decided to start with the movement first. I really don't want to cannibalize a watch for the movement if it isn't necessary. I have read of people finding NOS movements and was wondering if anyone had a source. Feel free to PM me if you would rather do that. Thanks!!!!
  3. I bought a pair of gen 571 end links and they did not fit my DW case. I was able to get them to work but not without some modification. The case I have is about 8 months old now (at least to me). For the price, I would find some cheaper ones like the 557.
  4. Absolutely beautiful!!!!!! A true labor of love. Where did you get the gen pinions and which ones did you use?
  5. You have to build it!!!! Being able to get everything you need seals the deal
  6. Thanks Freddy! I do have a staking set but have never had much luck re-securing the tube. I have tried the glue method you recommended and it has worked before. Thanks again!!!!
  7. Thanks for the reply Freddy! It is funny that your DW hands have three different sizes. Mine are clearly two (I don't know if I have enough good ones for a comparison now ). I ordered two sets of hands off of the bay and the small hands were packed like this (2 hands in watch paper and 4 hands in watch paper). The two hands had the longer tube and were for the seconds subdial. The four hands had the same length tube and were the same diameter. It looks like in your picture that the shorter tube hand goes on the hour totalizer (larger size shaft). When you broached the hand, how did you keep it from coming loose from the hand? Thanks again!!!!!!
  8. Hi Guys, It seems like I have been trying to get my 6263 together forever. It seems every time I take a step forward, I take at least 3 back. I know that is the name of the game, but this is crazy. I may be searching for a new movement unless I can get a screw to hold the hammer spring in place. It seems someone put an incorrect screw in the hole previously and the correct screw will not hold. It currently has the newer type hammer spring, and I am going to try the older hammer spring or perhaps the longer (older) hammer spring screw. If that doesn't work, I may try and retap the plate and use a plate screw. It is a little wider screw but the threads are too long (can be filed or cut down). Another problem I have had is with DW hands. I cannot seem to get a hand on the hour register. I measured the posts of the fourth wheel, minute totalizer, hour totalizer, and center second hand. I got .23mm, .24mm, .30mm, and .24mm respectively. The second hand register is definitely longer and fits well. The problem is that I think the other two hands are the same size. I have tried to broach the hour register hand, but the post comes loose from the hand every time I do. I also have a set of JAW hands but I prefer the look of the DW hands. Does anyone know of any tips that you used to get yours to fit? Thanks in advance!!!!!
  9. That is very true, and don't think I haven't thought about that I was just wondering if it was the dial or the watch.
  10. The movement is a valjoux 72.
  11. I just serviced the movement a few months ago and didn't see anything wrong with the minute register wheel or any of the gears it interacts with. I will have another look just to make sure though. Thanks!!!!!
  12. Thanks for the quick reply Freddy. I know you have a lot of experience with the watches. I can tell you that there is no play in the hand and that it is firmly on the post. As far as play in the gear, I don't believe there is. It clicks ever the same every time and the minute jumper spring is in the same place throughout its range. I know it is just a rep, but might have to see what I can do about it. Thanks again!!!!!
  13. Hi Guys, I am still working on my 6263 project (thinking it will never end). I am waiting for some hands and a better dial from Mr. Wong but decided I could take it any longer. I mounted the dial and hands that I had just to keep me sane and see how it is going to look. I am pretty happy with the way that it is going so far. I have a question about the minute register on DW dials. I have the minute counter perfectly zeroed when the bottom pusher is pressed. The problem is that the minute counter hand starts to drift away from the ticks sometime after the 10 minute mark. It finally ends up being perfectly centered again when it hits 30. You can see what I mean in the two pictures. The hand is centered at 30 but is off by the time it hits 15. I was wondering if this is just the way his dials are printed or if this is something wrong with mine only. Please disregard the quality of the pics. I took them quickly with my phone and didn't blow off the dust. Thanks in advance!!!!
  14. Thanks for the information. I will check that gasket out. Thanks again!!!!
  15. Hi Guys, Does anyone know what the sizes for the gaskets for a 1665 are? Are the caseback and crystal gasket the same as a 1680/5513? I am just trying to get my ducks in a row and need some gaskets. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance!!!!!!
  16. Congrats on the book!!!! I have been wanting that one for some time. Can't wait to see some pictures!!!!!
  17. Thanks for the reply! How can you get a 20-30% discount? That may sway my decision
  18. Hi Guys, I was wondering if anyone has purchased a case from NDT. If so, what was your experience with the quality? I am really close to buying a 1665 GW case and have narrowed it down to NDT. The main difference I can see between the JAW case and the NDT case is the case stamping. The NDT has the incorrect E. I am not sure that it is worth it to spend an extra $500 on an already expensive project and especially on something I won't regularly see. i would rather put that money towards a better bracelet. But I do want a quality case. So, does anyone have anything they can share? Thanks so much in advance!!!!!
  19. That is a beautiful watch Ubi!!!!! Nothing else I can say....
  20. Thanks for the links JoJo. I noticed that the E in Rolex is slightly different in the picture Freddy posted and the 2nd link that JoJo posted. Do you think it is an actual different font or differences in age (polishing)? I am asking to find out which of the two is more accurate (JAW or NDT). Thanks in advance!!!!
  21. Thanks for the pic Freddy. Do you know if the Rolex was ever in a different font. I have seen some with a different looking E and also with what I would call a stick font. The link you posted JoJo goes to a bracelet and not a 1665. I did do a google search but I have become wary from trusting pictures I see on the net. That is why I asked if anyone here had any. I am still a noob and didn't know if the variations in those pictures were genuine or fake. Thanks though.
  22. Hi Guys, Does anyone have a good picture of a GW 1665 caseback. I have been trying to find more information about them but have not seen much on GW. A lot of the information seems to focus om the DRSD variant. Are there any variations on these models? Thanks in advance!!!!
  23. I haven't heard about the quality yet, but he doesn't have one for the 1665 that I am aware of. Thanks!!!
  24. Hi Guys, I just thought that it was time to post some progress pictures. So far, it has mostly been collecting parts for my 1665 project. This is the list of parts I have thus far: Gen 1570 movement (just serviced by me and keeping great time) Gen tube Gen lumi insert Gen lumi hands Gen lumi dial Gen 585 end links Gen T39 crystal The only things that I need are a crown, case, and bracelet. I have a few questions about which case out of the NDT or JAW you would choose. The price of the NDT is better but I don't know about accuracy. I also don't know if either case will require any modifications. Any opinions? There is a small marl on the dial near the triangle at 12 and I was hoping to spray some matter varnish to mask it. Does anyone know what particular brand I should use. I remember seeing it before but can't find it. Thanks for looking and any recommendations or comments are welcome.
  25. Thanks for measuring the PT dial for me alligoat. I appreciate it!!!
