  1. What dealer is that one from? I've allways been put off with the issues with the datewheel but that one looks right with the black on dark gray background, I must admit I havn't been looking at BB 's for a while so I may have missed this one
  2. I had a good look at a forged carbon AP while in London, although the factory's continue to surprise from time to time I think this one will be next to impossible to rep. If they do manage it I'll be pretty near the front of the line for one though, might even make me take my Volcano off from time to time
  3. It does look like they have changed the angle on the bezel. The gens have the same (almost touching) spacing from the numbers to the bezel edge as the reps while the latest picture they have a gap. Either way it's still a nice piece, now if they would fix the colour of the volcano bezel & sell it separately I would live with the gap
  4. DSN I have one that I replaced with a FGD & the dial font is the same, also the markers on the dial are deeper than FGD's & unless there's about a gram of lume in them they will be slightly recessed
  5. If its a ceramic the top gun logo on the side will be deeply engraved & slightly powdery to look at, I've never seen a steel case that isn't laser etched as I cant see the factorys bothering to CNC a stainless case. Also it will be incredibly light & have a matt finish, there is a steel cased one doing the rounds but its a shiny finish
  6. For anyone interested in grabbing a cheap copy there's a softbound reprint on ebay that ends this Sunday (Item number 180393203413) I grabbed my copy for under $15 from the same seller, its not as nice as the old hardback copy but the information will be the same
  7. There's a software program you can use, I'm sure there's a link to it somewhere on the Geek. If not send me a PM on here or on repgeek & I can send it to you. You'll still have to sort out the pickup but there's a few schematics on the web you can use, I still need to make a new one as my last one wasn't sensitive enough to be accurate
  8. Not even an old case, the date pusher is too far down the case (should be between the 75-70 markers)
  9. If you do go for a slevin buy the bracelet & the rubber strap, I love the bracelet but it just sits better on the wrist with the rubber IMO
  10. Be careful with the Dsn 172 dial. the last one I ordered was around a year ago & was a matt grey colour, he may have changed it since then but if its the same as the one I had it wont last long untill you take it out Old post from me but will show you what I mean http://www.rwg.cc/members/DSN172-Dial-t78830.html BTW I went back to my original dial after 4 days
  11. Definitely be after a 205a FGD, I'm just running out of cases for the rest
  12. 5 min fix, You just need to rebuild your keyless works, only thing to watch is when you remove the top plate that the yoke spring doesn't go awol. Azerbyjam's link is great for your needs
  13. lovely looking 029 I've been trying hard to avoid getting a GMT Pam, looks like thats out the window
  14. I'm sure the correct way would be to take a measurement & work to that but I usually just sand down to around half the original size The only problem with my way of doing it is you may take too much off & the hands could touch so don't get too heavy handed with it, I would normally do a dry run of fitting the hands without the dial so I know roughly how much is needed to come off & anyway its not a huge deal to fit them then take them off again to take some more off. Tools for the job are highly technical , my wife's nail file(the sandpaper looking one's) & a small round needle file to gently deburr it.
  15. Interesting, I have fitted gen ETA cannon pins & had no issues with sanding down the minute, however both the 3.15 cannon pins I've had from cousins have both needed a fraction skimmed off the hands. It could be just a fluke that the hands have longer stubs but if anyone has a gen ETA cannon pin that could be measured it may be worth comparing there heights
  16. Can't go wrong with the military spec although a relume is on the cards as the reps is terrible I really need a lightbox to show the dial colour but I have worn the gen & the reps colour is spot on
  17. I can't comment on the true ETA versions but my 1st B&R 03 had a 4813 movement (they all come with short handstacks I beleive ) in it but due to the screws on the dial the hr hand kept fouling on it & got so bad that the hr hand actually fell off the stem. That one went back & was replaced with the 2813 version & in 8 months it has never missed a beat, so as far as I can recommend the asian 2813 is the way to go only problem I've ever had was the 3 month wait for B&R to send me a green nylon strap
  18. Not bad but It's a new case model which I hate for the following reasons: Normal rep dials are around 1mm smaller so your stuck with the dial it comes with so it may need a relume Capped hand's, not a huge issue as you can swap it out with a normal hand but it will also need a longer cannon pin The TI Case uses the dreaded stainless steel stamped caseback (love the way its blurred out in the picture) & it wont take any other casebacks as it uses a different thread pitch & is also slightly different from normal rep cases as it doesn't have any flats to mount the CG The biggest issue for me is the CG, although its a thick version the lever sits way too far from the case & uses a smaller than normal screw size to mount it. Personally I think you can do a lot better for that kinda money, heck a DSN wont cost you much more & I know which one I'd be more happy with
  19. Sad news Rob, I use choppers including the S92 to get to work so I can understand how badly it can go wrong, we had a 225 ditch a few weeks ago in which luckily everyone survived but they were very lucky that day. My sympathies go to everyone involved
  20. Very nice FGD, my 201a dial is off for the same treatment. Quick question for you FGD, I have a 1st gen 201a dial, whats the difference with the 2nd gen?, I'm sure I did read something about it before but I can't find the thread for the life of me
  21. if its 6497 size movement there normally held in place with a spacer ring in a fiddy case, you could try a WTB as I'm sure somebody will have one lying about
  22. Sad news, he did push his luck sometimes but its the only way to progress the sport I guess.
  23. I would avoid a new 036, I've never seen a decent new one & I've been looking for a long time. The Ruby one's do come up from time to time but people have started asking big money for them & with the pound to the dollar right now it's just too expensive for me
