  1. Agreed, I have the same caseset with my 172, there's no way you can fit a sandwich dial in there without serious work, still Its a easy spot as its the only rep Ti case I have ever seen with stamped OP & serial #'s on the case.
  2. If you are thinking about changing the movement & you feel confident it might be worth stripping the keyless works & rebuilding it. I had the same issues with one of my pams while I was changing the cannon pin. I had to press the stem down while turning to get it to engage, although it looked ok I took it apart & reset all the parts & 6 months later its still one of my nicest feeling winders. The only other time I have had something similar is when I shortened a stem to bring the crown closer to the case, I could set the time but the winder wouldn't engage although the stem worked fine in a different case. Seems a tiny difference in the length can make a huge difference to the keyless. PAMman beat me to it & a better explanation
  3. Might be a bit late but I have had a CG pin that pushed from the top, looked like a normal CG just the pin holes were the same dia top & bottom
  4. Nice 036 Bruce, I agree about the dials, I couldn't live with mine so It became a 040
  5. Cracking 118, I'm glad to see appreciation of the more unusual (ie not a 111) pams. 400 mile round trip to my nearest AD........ must resist
  6. I would guess some of you will have seen this before, if not worth a read as it mentions how the luming styles changed. http://www.paneristi.com/archives/PreA_Pan..._A_Panerai.html
  7. Very nice work The Zigmeister, You need to move to Scotland, great biking roads & I'm sure there's a few Pam's of mine that could keep you busy for a few days
  8. 205A came from Watchstation on here, I have no idea if he has any more but send him an e-mail, he should be able to help
  9. Hi Folks, I recently had Peter build me a one-off to go with my 205A so I thought I would share some pics to see what you all think. The 205 has the (infamous) T-crown with a little work to the guard, high canon pin is to follow. Strap is a monster & Peter was a great guy do deal with, I'm not sure if he was keen on my idea to build it with a samurai tip but I love it. Apologies for the poor pics & the see-through scotsman skin tones
  10. V Nice, looks like a DSN dial in the 172
  11. When I was oyxcleaning my 172 I thought it would be a good idea to give it a quick degrease with acetone. bye-bye AR
  12. Quality work T, I have a few manual Pam's that are looking forward to wearing them. Hopefully I wont miss this due to working
  13. This might seem a strange question Chefcook but is there a small disc in the recess of the crown? A few of my Pams have the problem of the crown sitting out from the case, if I was to shorten the stem to pull it in a bit the lever would be too short due to the recess on the crown. This pic seems to show it best
  14. Turn & 1/2 max should have the stem free You'll probably have to use tweezers to pull the stem but if its just backed out of the crown you could try to screw it back in & then pull it Dont be tempted to just unscrew the stem release or you'll pop the keyless & trust me thats a PITA to put back together (hands & dial will have to come off)
  15. To be honest it's not just a RG thing, I've had PM's from people on here after a WTB & when I've replied to ask for payment details I get told "sorry its sold". When I reply I always tell them that I live in the UK, could be a postal issue but still annoys me.
  16. Quick update: Received an e-mail from DSN saying that the dial is actually matt black, I sent him a few pics from the post & asked if he thought that dial was black or grey. His reply to that was "never mind, send it back for refund" Had a another e-mail from him after I asked if he had any of his older 172 dials "Well that is what I have, try another dealer" DSN at his best again I see
  17. First off I'm just a noob at modding so there may be some "DOH" moments. The 172 has been a grail watch of mine but I got into reps too late to find one when they being made. After an off chance remark in an E-mail to PT he managed to source one with some flaking on the dial, price was right so off we go. I did some studying & the general opinion was get a DSN one as they were closest so after some e-mails to DSN it turns out he now does a superlumed one. Guess what arrived today: First impressions was WTF is that dial colour about, it is a lot darker than the picture looks & is more a dark slate grey ( tantalium) colour. On to 2nd issue: The dial is made by glueing 2 dials together by the looks of it to give the recess for the second hand. I dont own a sandwich dial Pam but wow is this dial thick. Other problem's with the dial was it was starting to come apart & one of the mounting pins was broken (transit perhaps as the pin was in the bag) Mounting it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be although that second hand is a PITA to attach, but that was nothing compared to getting the movement back in the case. Due to the fact that the dial is so thick after about 90mins trying to get the movement holders in I gave up Frustrated I had a sod-it moment & screwed the back on to check if it would go & to my surprise it fitted & holds the movement in place snugly (told you there would be a few "DOH" moments) I've taken some pic's of it finally assembled along with some lume shots so you can see if it really is superlumed I'm not sure that it "glows like a torch" but its a lot better than standard lume. 5 sec exposure With it's brother The pictures above do make the dial look a lot lighter than it really is & to be honest I do like it now its in the case but a black dial would have been less of a shock. I'm going to send DSN an e-mail to let him know about my issues but I'm guessing this is as far as it will get. Feel free to comment & hopefully reassure me that movement holders aren't that important I'm terrible at writing so apologies for my poor grammar. Mike
  18. Case certinally looks a lot fatter in King's pictures than the gen, still a very nice Tag though. I would like to see a wristy before I bought one though, Pics can be deceiving but it looks about the thickness of a Slevin.
  19. I can't answer for Khurram but that's exactly the way mine came from the dealer, mines came with the rubber strap & I got the metal band so I could switch. There's a few have posted Pic's of there's on here (me included) & you'll find them pretty much identical.
  20. Not picking faults ( 1st rep I bought was a Slevin) but do try to get a photo of your watch if you can, the biggest issue with them is the "swiss made" at the bottom being offset. Mines is slightly offset like Khurram's but after speaking to my collector he told me that some can be really bad & thats pretty much its main QC issue, other than that a nice IWC that I've no issues in recommending to buy
  21. I would say its still between 10 & 2, 5:30 is just being extra carefull as its furthest away you can get the hands
  22. I've been looking for a Pam since before I joined RWG, I still cant understand why they can rep pretty much 1-1 on complicated pieces but on IMO a more basic Pam theres still so much wrong with them. I've been looking at DSN's for a while as he's supposed to be one of the main men for Pam's but it always seem to be close but no cigar. For the kind of prices there going for I just dont think there value for money when you can pick up a cheaper one with the same kind of issues. My search for a 111G continues Mike
  23. I would say it is the rotor turning, my one although its not very loud does make the same kind of noise but you only hear ir it you have it to your ear. As for winding I work away quite a bit so I have to start mine quite a lot but I've never wound it much more that 2 turns, I pull the crown, wind it a few turns till the sec hand moves & set the day date and your good to go.
  24. Quite surprised that there seems to be very little EU folks that have bought Pam's from P/T, looks like I will probably get one & wait for the experts to pick faults with it.
