  4. Sorry, I am in Padova Italy next week but the weekend looks good. Meet for a few drinks. Show Pugwash the IWC F. A. Jones (I got from ryyannon) so he can decide on his next watch. Sunday afternoon? Usil
  5. Holy crap. And I thought there was no Quality Control. Thanks Neil. Usil
  6. I have the current version of the Big Pilot (white dial) and in fact am wearing it today. I would go for a better version as well. For me it is PAMS with a close second of IWC followed by Breitling for style but some of the Tags are looking pretty good. (And of course the PO) Usil
  7. Thanks for the heads up. Good to know. Usil
  8. Phoband: I really like the alligator straps on the photobucket for the URL you provided (pam2pam) but I do not see how to contact them. Can you provide their email address? Thanks, Usil
  9. They have been posted before. Do a search. Usil
  10. Yes, but look at that crown. Sweet. Usil
  11. I am 59 and had a lot of hobbies over the years. I have always collected things and still do but watches are relatively new to me. Since the beginning of this year, I have bought about 20 of them and love them all. No hobby has provided as much pleasure as reps. But I could never afford 20 gens. I guess for what I have spent this year I could have bought 'one' Gen but then as already stated in this thread... I don't try to analyze the why I do this - it is just fun and satisfying. Every day has a little something extra in it when I select the watch I will wear. If a conversation starts over what I am wearing it feels good to talk about them. There is no practical or logical side to this. It is purely emotional and thus a little outside of explanation. My wife, god bless her, has never complained about the watches I buy. Life is good. 12. Perfect. Another picture for my reference files. Usil
  13. Go to the dealers section - click on Narikaa - order a watch and ask for one. He has closed for right now as he is traveling but it will be back up in a few weeks. Usil
  14. A blow up ball about 3 inches in diameter that has a sticky tenacity when pressed against things. Used to grip and turn case backs. Usil
  15. After my attempt to build a PAM opener using a poured acrylic that sets up hard, Narikaa took pity on me and sent me a Sticky Ball. This has turned out to be my best case opener I have in my arsenal of 4 other devices of varying shapes and material. Thanks Narikaa. Usil
  16. Hey Pugwash: The 3rd one in your picture, have you ever gotten anything open with it? I bought that and it has been totally useless. Narikaa sent me a 'sticky ball' after I made the clear plastic PAM opener and it is the most useful and effective case opener I have in my collection. So simple and works perfectly with zero chance of scratches. Usil
  17. When the watch is bought and you are happy with the price you paid - it is a fair price. Usil
  18. This was the Breitling Navitimer back from a watch I had last year. I thought it was pretty cool. Breitling Navitimer Unusual Case Back Usil
  19. The other lever is directly connected to your bank account. It is a deduction lever. Usil
  20. As Arnold would say - "...you're such a girly boy". Usil
  21. Mine started out at 40 seconds fast a day. Now it is about 1 sec for every 1 to 2 days. Regulation marks (+ or -) are not present so I moved the regulator arm to lengthen or shorten it's sliding attachment point on the spring. Moving the regulator arm towards the based attachment point lengthens it, moving away and it shortens it. Final adjustments were made in fractions of a millimeter by using a loop to see the regulator arm movement. You need a steady hand to do this. I am not a trained person working on watches so I provide this with no guarantee and only share what I did. Hopefully experts will respond to your request. Usil
  22. Question 10 does not work well for reps. (Do you care where it was made?) Choice of watch preference should allow for #1, #2 and #3. Usil
  23. TTK: No news yet. Let's wait another week or so. I checked out a 24 mm SS bracelet on my PAM 187 last weekend to see if it might be adjusted to fit. Just laying it up agains the watch between the lugs looked real sweet. Obviously there was a gap on each side and I played around with the idea of putting a small spacer on each side. I cut small washers from an old rubber strap I had and tried it. It would have worked had I bent the tabs under the bracelet. That is when I decided no way am I going to bend the tabs and risk ruining it. Gave it a go though. Two dealers I have asked said 26 mm is not available. Too bad. Usil
  24. My new Asia movement in my PAM 187 is running like a trooper. I have worn it for two weeks with no issues. I regulated the movement by hand to less than a second lost per day. I have checked it frequently and it seems to vary a little on the plus and minus side but still no more than 1 second ether way after any two to three day period. Tiny movements using a loop is needed to do this so you can actually see the small adjustment made. Usil
