  1. It was indeed a great afternoon and I enjoyed it very much. Ryyannon's vintage watches -California Dial 3436 and Vintage Radiomir are absolutely amazing. I have looked at these from afar before without seriously thinking about getting one but I have to reevluate this. Fascinating conversation. Please, let's try this after the Christmas holidays and see what Santa brought us. Usil
  2. Now where was that bathroom again??? Usil
  3. Who was that masked man? Usil
  4. I like the black band on this watch. My first rep was a Bretling NAV with white face - quartz. Gave it to my daughter and still going strong. Have to get another one of these days. Usil
  5. I took the same kind of deployant - brand new that had zero locking on it (slipped in and out without even touching the clasp) and with a few form bends - had a nice tight snap click shut and open deployant. Usil
  6. I sent Pugwash a PM an hour ago to see if he was on as he said on in this thread. Have not seen any of the others repsond. If not, it is just us 2 for a few beers. I want to see your new watch. Sorry, no Cape Cod cloth. I wanted one of these too but so far never ordered one. I have another polishing cloth I will bring and you can try that. I got it here in Paris but probably not up to the power of the Cape cod. I have some polishing rouge too. You can try that. Usil
  7. No, Synthetic Saphire is not just another way to say Mineral Glass. Syntheic saphire is as I described - a man made saphire with the same durability, hardness and other characteristics as real gem based saphire. Now, there are two things here that need to be clear. If you see some members use these terms mineral glass and synthetic saphire as the same they are just confused. If you are saying that some dealers call mineral glass synthetic saphire then that will need some proof because that would be calling them liars. I do not know of any of our trusted dealers that deliberately lie about this. Usil
  8. ANDREW - There is nothing to worry about. He exemplifies his name perfectly. Usil
  9. Haven't taken this off all week and will extend into the weekend. Taking a few days off and too bad lousy weather here in Paris. At the risk of starting another Casino Royale thread, may see that tonight. Usil
  10. This comes up frequently and yet confusion remains. Mineral = Glass Saphire is a natural stone that is valuable for jewlrey and too valuable to make watch crystals out of. Synthetic saphire is man made and has been for years. It is the same chemical composition, hardness, durability and has all the properties of natural saphire. Synthetic saphire is not mineral glass. 11. I swear I just saw a request for where to get an oval hole puch but can not seem to find it. Anyway, you can get it at Taukonaut for 25 USD: Taikonaut-time.com See the punch on this page. Usil
  12. Nice watch. In the words of SNL - 'What the hell is that thang?' Usil
  13. Curved like that it becomes a lens and it does distort. I like the effect. Usil
  14. I thought the pens left a black mark for ok. Usil
  15. I wonder what a ring flash would do - the ring florescent looks very good? Usil
  16. My PAM 196 with Toscana leather strap has the best wearing feel of all my watches. My 127 on a leather strap is second. I have my PAM GMT on a SS bracelet and I wear it when I want to look dressed up. I like the feel of the Breitling Chrono Avenger in Ti also. So much to choose from so little time. Usil
  17. Ok, Here is the Paris GTG plan: Sunday (Nov. 26) at the Cafe Select - at 2:00 pm. Pugwash, can you make it at that time? Ryyannon is available. Anyone else? Looks like weather may cooperate. There were a few others in Paris that met last time - hope to see the new faces too. I know that some will be getting some new Christmas watches so we can take a look at them sometime early in 2007. Usil
  18. Is this a rep and if so, where did you get it? I have been waiting for a decent one of these for a year. I was at an AD this summer and saw this in the window - an honest to God genuine one. It was beautiful in it's ugliness - if that makes sence. Usil
  19. That seems to be it. Thanks for staying with me on this. I knew some expert here would have the answer. Usil
  20. I have a Wireless Microsoft Intellimouse with a scroll wheel but no option to make it open a click to a new window. Maybe I set something wrong when I installed IE7. I will recheck all options. Usil
  21. If we do this around 2:00 pm - which day is better for you guys? Saturday or Sunday? Usil
  22. I like it. Nice look. Not bad price for a Gen. Usil
  23. Windows XP pro English IE7 Thanks Usil
  24. Thanks for trying to help but I do not see this option. This seems like such a simple need and yet is so frustrating not knowing if opening a web link will open into a new window or blow away an already open window on the screen. Usil
  25. Since my pearl cracked when I whacked it agains a door jam, using a loop, I careful removed the other bits and pieces in the pearl hole on the bezel. The 2-part clear plastic is the type you can buy in any hobby store for making acrylic artsy-fartsy stuff. I used a product that was just called Crystal resin. You mix the resin and a hardener together much like epoxy. Stuff dries clear and hard. I have no idea what yours will look like but on my 187 the hole was just like a little well. I used a hobby 'glow paint' - also bought at a hobby store and filled the bottom and let dry. Then I mixed the crystal resin (only needed about 3 ml of it) and again using a loop, carefully deposited the resin into the hole using the end of a tooth pick. You have to be careful that you only use just enough to fill the small hole without overflowing onto the bezel - which is why you need a loop. On the 187 the well is flat so I was done after it dryed and set hard. Since the resin is clear, the lum color and glow come through without issues. If you need the little domed top, this can be done too with careful depositing just a dab on top of the dried flat part already set up. All of this worked well and I wish I had bought the right lum instead of the cheep stuff from the hobby store but based on the poor rep lum, it lasts about the same so no loss. Hope this helps. It is all trial and error and depends on how much you want to play around with your reps. This is a hobby for me so this was in line with hobbiest projects. Usil
