  1. I had to have my Breitling Chrono Avenger and after wearing it a few times it sets in my watch case. I still look at it and consider it every once in a while but never put it on. Don't want to sell it though. I might change my mind some day. My Breitling Navitimer 'Series Special' was a must have and I do try to wear it every once in a while but it just seems too small any more. I guess that my wearing PAMs has changed my perspective on what size watch I like. This may also be what is effecting my not wearing the Chrono Avenger. There must be a Breitling solution for me but I don't know what it is right now. My Sub I bought last Summer (Green Bezel), I guess is my obligatory Rolex and it is a good looking watch with the silkiest smooth movement of all my watches but it just feels way too small and it too just sets in my case. What I wear the most now a days is my Fiddy and my Omega Railmaster XXL. But I still like the collection I have and do not count it a loss that I have the watches I have. They give me options. It is always good to have options. Where else can we say (afford to say) - shall I wear my Rolex or my Breitling or my fiddy or my 196 or my 111h or my 187 or my Casablanca or my IWC F.A. Jones or my VC or my... Life is good. Usil
  2. Perfect, will be glad to see it and thanks in advance for your efforts. Usil
  3. Cool information. I never even thought about doing this but will in the future Usil
  4. I would not give up yet. I just thought of something. Get some JB Weld (2 part epoxy/metal) and carefully apply a small amount and make a ridge in the appropriate places. Let it harden overnight and then work on it untill it fits. Clean the area with alcohol 1st and then apply the JB Weld. It should work with a little filing. Usil
  5. I got my PO out and took a look at what you are pointing at. I saw a very poor excuse for a ridge that interlocks with the groove and I am surprised mine works at all. Based on a few bracelets I have worked on, it does not take much movement to actually make something work but it takes a whole lot of effort to get it to move. Sorry I can not help. Usil
  6. Exactly what I needed. Thanks. And, what do you use to cut this tiny little piece? or do you just grind it a little at a time so you don't bugger up the threads? Usil
  7. I see what you are dealaing with. Seems that you are doing it the right way so this presents a problem. I find it difficult to know exactly what piece needs repositioning. It is not alway clear when you look at it. Left or right, tighter or what ever. Generally, you are forced to trial and error - meanwhile you muck up the bracelet. Maybe glue is not such a bad idea. Usil
  8. Two things: 1. Fitting the thread might just be a slightly damaged top surface of the stem which has misaligned the top part of the thread. Check it out with a loop and maybe file the top down slightly making sure you make it flat. 2. Where you say " -- had to cut the stem to the right length and file the lever down " I understand about the filing the lever a little to make it fit but exactly what are you 'cutting' on the stem to make it the right length? and how much did you cut? and how did you know you needed to cut it? Thanks, Usil
  9. Why did you get the 39 mm B&R right now when the 46 mm are available? Just curious since there is much said of how large they are and it might bode well for the 39 mm to fill a need for smaller wrists. Usil
  10. Are you sure you are tucking the end part of the divers extension under the ridge on the clasp before you are snaping it shut? Don't ask me for details on this as I can not explain it any better. I just know if you don't put the end under the ridge first it will pop open. Just examine the clasp carefully. Usil
  11. Howdy and welcome. Spend some time looking at the past years posts and you should be able to learn a lot. Usil
  12. I like the watch. But like I said ---------------- a Faux 8-day? on a Panerai. This is getting everybody excited? Usil
  13. Unless they actually created a real 8 day rep movement, what would be the point? Pam guys are going to buy this with a Faux 8-day? Usil
  14. Good watches with good styling at resonable prices was the original reason. But since then, this has become a hobby and I have had and still do have lots of hobbies in my life which makes life intersting and just plain fun. Something I did not think would happen is that I got interested in the insides. I bought some basic tools and every watch I get gets the once over and some I have even removed the stem, the movement and cleaned the inside of the crystal because of the haze that can develop from the manufacturing process and lubs used. So, no where close to a 'watchsmith' but learning and liking this hobby a lot. And, it helps me get rid of all the dirty filty germ infested money I have. Usil
  15. Great collection. I am working on mine. Usil
  16. Drew him for Santa game? I was hoping it was for a gift and you could get him a rep. Usil
  17. I often wondered why someone could not just print a new date wheel with proper fonts and then glue it over the old one. I know that it would be a little more difficult than I describe here but Photoshop skills, a computer and good printer should be able to do this. Am I missing something? Usil
  18. Don't know what the issue was but when I tried to add a comment to this thread and it gave me a message 'I do not have persmission ...' Usil
  19. No problem, tell us how it goes. If you wind up having to do this yourself, show us a picture. Usil
  20. I have been thinking about getting the D40 for my son for Christmas. Did you get it with the kit lens (18 - 55mm)? Did you use this lens for the shot? Usil
  21. Their may be hundreds to choose from but most of the pictures the dealers use in their display adds and web pages suck big time. I always look to the members here to post their pictures with their watches plus wrist shots before I believe I can get a good feeling if I will like the strap or not. I have bought way too many basd on the poor pics and have been sadly disapporinted when it arrived. I have been looking for a black strap for a while now and the poor dealer pics makes this very difficult with poor lighting or being too dark. Members, please keep this thread going and add some of your best pics if you have them. Usil
  22. Azureus is a nice Java BitTorrent Client. Works well but BitTorrent take allmost all my DSL bandwidth when running so I run it at night before heading to bed. By the way, what is the best way to get all the movies and TV stuff onto a regular DVD? I hate watching it on the computer. Usil
