  1. Bump up your F-stop to F8 or F11. Looks like you have low light if this was at 1/25th at F 2.8 so this will make a loooong exposure but since it is already on a tripod - who cares. Probably come off with a white balence that will need adjusting too. Should see a dramatic sharpness improvement and your depth of field will improve too. Since you have the light box and tripod, all of this is just camera settings and a little post processing. (A small amount of unsharp mask is usally needed on digital shots - depends - try with and without) Usil
  2. Pugwash, That is one of the very few rolex I like and I have the non-GMT version as I bought it before they offered the GMT. It is a handsome watch, the green color is very good and it has the best feel for setting the time and turning the crown of any of my watches. It just feels quality and I wish all my watches felt the same even though it is not an ETA movement. But having said that, every time I try it on it just looks too small on my wrist. I realize my perception has been altered ever since I have bought the PAMs but I will never sell it. One note concerning the turning of the crown and setting the time which I mentioned. Some of my watches have some slop in the movement that allows the minute hand to flop easily within a 2 minute range when setting. The LV is nice, smooth and tight in setting the time, no slop at all. Any idea what the difference is internally as they are just Asian movements? My watch today is: Usil
  3. Thanks Neil - I consider that high praise from an expert. I have bought many watches because of your photos. Usil
  4. Any news on when this will be available? My 187 is eagerly awaiting this. Usil
  5. Thanks for the kind words. Believe it or not, I grabbed the bottle and set this up by a window without special lighting. When I saw the picture, I amazed myself with this one. Usil
  6. That it does. Been wearing this one a lot. Usil
  7. I wanted to get an IWC Chrono this summer when they were flying around the board but decided to wait for a while. Relaxman offered his with a Hirsch strap in December and I decided to go for it. It has a saphire crystal and an Asian 28,8 movement. It was a great combination watch and strap and the price was right. I had him send it to my US address so I had to wait for this one too along with my PAM 212 for a few weeks. Well worth the wait and had several comments on it at work this week. Here is the watch and Hirsch strap draped over a 10 year old bottle of Port. Usil
  8. I bought a PAM 212 from Overboosted just before the holidays and had it shipped to my US address since I was heading there in a few weeks. It has a saphire crystal and the 28.8 asian movement. My daughter called me when it arrived and then I patiently waited. I had in mind a gator strap for it and I found the perfect match from Bob. I bought his 'Bob Marino Gator - Aubergine Brown 24/24' for well under 100.00. When I received it it was everything I had hoped for, great quality, thick but not padded, not too glossy and great pattern. Here is a picture of the PAM 212 and the BOB Gator. I think it is a perfect match. Thanks to Overboosted for a good deal. The strap is no longer available in this color and I hope the Bob makes some more in this line. Usil
  9. I received my IWC GST Stainless Steel from Neil over the holiday season. I have been looking at ths watch for the better part of the year and don't know why I did not buy it sooner. I like the Titanium model but I have a Breitling Chrono Avenger in Ti and I wanted a SS bracelet watch for my collection. Actually, I might get the Ti too but my new years resolution is to regain my self control in this hobby. I just put this on a 10 yr old Port I got for a gift and set it near a window. Here is the shot with my replaced camera which I also got for Christmas. IWC GST Stainless Steel Beauty from Neil: I love IWC and hope that the new stuff being talked about will be coming down the road in the near future. Usil
  10. Neil, thanks for the communications to the forum. Many of us like doing business with you because of what you offer. Did this infection you picked up come from Scotland or did you have it before you took your holiday? Usually when I get a cold it turns into bronchitis and it hits me hard for quite a long time. Miderable time so I hate the cold thing because of what it can lead to. Unbelievably, I did not have a single cold last year and I can never remember that ever happening. I also always get the Flu shot. Thanks for the IWC GST I received. It is a great looking watch. I am having a GTG in Paris on the 28th and Pugwash has a link to a Ingy that he thinks will work on my bracelet since I need the extra link for my wrist size. Beautiful weather here in Paris as we really have not had winter yet. Best to you and hope you get back to being ship shape and bristol fasion again real soon. Usil
  11. What store is that? I have often stopped and window shopped but never took my camera. Lots of AD's in Paris. Usil
  12. I like the concept but do you think for conrast that the face should be pitch black? Usil
  13. Great shots. You live in a beautiful part of the worldand I am sure the boys appreciate you. When they get older will you leqd them into Explorer Scouts? Usil
  14. The weight of Stainless Steel and the look of Titanium - the best of both worlds. Usil
  15. Thank you for this very informative and well writen review. Usil
  16. Went there. Nice site and that Ebel watch is unbelievable. What a watch. Black and red. Classy. Usil
  17. I went to the Strapmaster web site and checked out their croc straps and they did not have that strap. Plus, the pictures of the other croc straps look glossy and plasticky. Nothing like the look of your great strap. Did you have a better picture to select from because these do not look too good? I have already been burned once on poor quality croc straps and find the pictures hard to tell about the quality. Usil
  18. Woody, Be sure to tell us the stories when you show him your other watches. Usil
  19. That looks great. How will you paint the bezel? Spray paint with numbers covered with something? How would you cover all those little numbers so it comes out perfect? Usil
  20. Excellent story and handled very well. You are a class act all the way. Usil
  21. While my IWC Big Pilot whirrs like a champion, none of my other reps can be heard. So, the sound must not always occur with Asian reps. Usil
  22. frankt, This is my point exactly. Getting parts is always a pain and many times it is hit and miss. Would't it be nice if the dealers said for their bracelet watches that they fit an XX inch wrist and each link adds x.x inches. If you need extra links let me know at the time of the order. Done. Simple. No longer a pain. Will it ever happen? Usil
  23. Very cool PVD. I wonder if you can PVD the three back plates. Usil
