  1. Uziuzi, What is the black strap? Usil
  2. You're right. It is as much about the people who like watches as it is the watches. Nicely put. Usil
  3. Extreamly tough to answer since multiple watches fit multiple situations and REPs allow us to choose so easily. But I guess I would have to shoose my Fiddy since it gets the most wrist time. Usil
  4. Look at this lovely from PureTime (borrowed his pic). 46 mm too. Usil
  5. I have this watch and rarely wear it. In fact, I have added an additional 2 links so it would not be so tight. Usil
  6. I can't take it. There are at least 5 watches in Neil's groupings today that I want but I just can't do it. I have spent enough this year. This is really teasing us so close to Christmas. Maybe he is secretly show us what he is going to send to all his RWG friends for christmas this year. Usil
  7. I am a solid 3 but I have also pulled the crown out and pulled some movements out to clean the inside of the crystal when they have been hazed by oil vapor. Thankfully no problems but I sweat it every time I do it. Usil
  8. I have a nice 20 watch holder and for some reason, I still have watches flowing over in the drawers and table tops. Since February of this year, 27 reps and several gens (quartz). And God help me, I see 5 more I just got to have. Usil
  9. It would be a mistake not to rent a car and at least do what I suggested. This could be a day trip. You will know what I mean after you have done the day trip as you will know what you would have missed without getting a car. But this is just the start. If you have a few more days, you have got to get into the Alps. Another trip would be to drive to Wengen and see the lauderbaden valley but while the destination is great the touring along the way is also great. You could come back through interlaken and drive through the mountains south by driving onto a train and the train takes you through the mountain while you stay in the car. You come out not far from the route to Zermat and the Matterhorn. You need to google all of this. Switzerland is beyond description in beauty but you need the car to see it. Usil.
  10. Early on it was Casio. Never changed the battery - just let it run it's course and get another one since they were always coming out with new ones. Had a Walthan a few times and had a few pocket watches. But now, it was Feb. of this year when a friend of mine brought me back a 20 dollar Breitling white faced Navitimer from Bangkok. I loved that watch even though it was quartz driven. This got me thinking and I started searching the internet for an on-line solution. Thank god I found RWG before I bought anything. Now, since Feb of this year and 27 reps later, well, what can I say... I never have any desire to go into a watch store EXCEPT the ADs to see all the pretties. Do I ever think I will move up to the Gen? I have absolutely no desire to purchase one. Usil
  11. Me too. My favorite phrase to my friends is: 'I can't believe they pay me to live here.' After nearly 4 years, I still feel the same. Usil
  12. Thanks for the information. I have now added this to my list of fun trips to take. It would be a nice slow trip as I hate traveling long distances each day. This would be a photo trip for me and I potentially would take the entire summer doing this. I have to see polar bears once in my life in their natural environment, preferably not within eating distance. Usil
  13. When I was a kid, I used to think about taking a nice long touring trip that headed through BC, Canada and then just drive to Alaska. Now that I am near retirement age, your pictures brings this back to mind as a possibility for a summer trip. Is this possible? Good roads all the way? Anyone done this? How far can you get? Might come up some day and say hi. Usil

  15. Who makes that strap? What is it called - model? Usil
  16. Under a thousand then you will have to get a non SLR camera. Many to choose from but if you want to take good closeups, you will need to make sure you have this ability in the camera. Not all digital cameras have a close focus feature. Make sure you read all the specs. because you will need to focus within a foot or less depending on the lens it comes with. Usil
  17. Depends on the time but a drive around the lake is nice. Rent the car in Geneva. Or it you do not want to go all the way, drive to Montreaux and back. Pretty country. A trip to Gruyere, another 45 minutes from Montreaux has a nice castle and midieval village. You can have a very nice lunch there. To me touring in Switzerland is what is best. Usil
  18. What size is your wrist? I am a 7.5 inch and have a SS of one of these coming. I hope that length is not an issue. Usil
  19. Great shots. Are you getting a new camera from Santa? Usil
  20. We are going to have some watches to show off at the next GTG in Paris. I will have 5. Ryyannon will have one with a new strap. How many does this make you? The only way I can now justify my continued purchases is to call myself a collector/hobbiest. There is no way I can wear them all. And I have got to have each new offering. So far, the last part of this year, I have bought three from members. This saved some money and I have found not so bad a way to keep up. Usil

    Going Home

Merry Christmas, Neil and Happy New year. Usil
  22. I have no idea, I wondered all over the basement looking at each rack that had tubes of stuff hanging on it. I would have to do the same thing if I ran out. In the end, I only found one that had the silicone grease. She can ask a store attendant and if they are helpful - maybe point her to it. Usil
  23. I bought a small tube of silicone grease in the basement of BHV in Paris. Had to look a while but finally found it. It is a small 4 inch long tube (20 ml) blue front of tube and says Graisse Silicone. Domix brand name. Works great. I put a small amount on my fingers and slide the o-ring through my fingers several times to apply light coating. Usil
  24. Nice design. What is the white material? Bendable or flexible plastic? Usil
