  1. I don't know about anyone else but this is defineitley going to effect where I buy my next SEVERAL watches unless I see some changes forthcoming in advertized descriptions. Usil
  2. None yet, but I would definitely replace many of my watches if they failed to function or a signifcant update was released. I liked them once enough to buy them and I intend to keep them even if I have to get a new one. Usil

    Iwc Aquatimer

This is now on my list. I have 5 IWC reps, a chrono, an F. A. Jones, A Power Reserve, a Big Pilot and an Aquatimer. The Aquatimer has faux subdials, the inner bezel does not rotate and I was filing on the bracelet the other day to try to get it in shape and can see the brass under the grey bracelet color - but you can definitely see the potential in this rep if is done right. It also has two different lume colors on the hour hand and the minute hand. I don't know if this is the same on the gen. One is kind of greenish and the other is orangish. Looks intersting. Usil
  4. Where did you get it? Link? Usil
  5. I bought 4 watches fron Neil. They are good watches. All was well for each one. Usil
  6. 27 Posts and a nice review already. Thanks for the contribution to the forum. Quartz or not, close or not to original, if you like it - it is a good watch. Just like wine - a good one is one you like. Enjoy the watch and keep up the good work. Usil
  7. Are you sure it is not 8? Usil
  8. Paris GTG: Sunday, January 28 3 days and counting. Sunday at the Cafe Select in Paris at 2:00 pm - three of us for sure - anyone else? Can't wait to see all of Pugwash's new watches. Usil
  9. How much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood? Usil
  10. Some people have painted with a broad brush in their comments but I think that most of the ones that have been here a while understand what you have said and agree that the comments do not apply to all the dealers. Your comments and participation has been greatly appreciated. Usil
  11. Great pictures? I can barely tell it is a watch. Usil
  12. Supermanx: Careful, she gets her bags you get more watches. More watches are a good thing. Usil
  13. I have ordred several watches from Trusty and they all arrived in perfect condition. It can take longer than a week sometimes so don't go balistic if it is not there in exactly 1 week. You will get it. Usil
  14. Has anyone noticed any changes in claims or descriptions by our trusted dealers? Is it our expectations that they should do so? Usil
  15. Related is this link I posted back in August concerning getting genuine parts: THE BRITISH HOROLOGICAL INSTITUTE They have a petition to sign there to support getting original parts for watch repair. The link is in the middle of the page. Usil
  16. delta...: Thanks for the link. Both were to the same location. I checked them out and the pictures just look too fake. I don't know if they don't know how to photograph them or if what. I am always checking out owners strap purchases because then I can get a good look at it as it really is. Usil
  17. Cool watch. I have been tempted by that one before. Usil
  18. It is not a tint and only noticable from a certain angle. The pictures here I am sure the wearers had a hard time getting just the angle to take the picture. Usil
  19. I think we have traveled a little in this thread in a very good direction. Everyone has had their say, some rants but mostly coherant and constructive. Everyone will be asking the right questions of their dealers from now on before their next purchase and our dealers know we appreciate some honesty in their descriptions. I don't mind the 'soft claims' like best or ultimate, this is found everywhere and we know to be warry. The 'hard or misleading claims' is a real problem and hopefully this will start to clear up. Some of the best watches I have ever bought were from TTK and I really appreciate Silix stepping up qnd joining the discussion. They will get one of my first looks when I am interested in the next watch. Thanks to Pugwash for starting all of this. Usil
  20. Hey, long time no see, Klink. Good to hear from you on this board. Usil
  21. Why does the low price IWC Big Pilot have a noticable AR coating on it and the other IWC's do not? What determines if a rep will get an AR coating or not? Usil
  22. Pugwash and lovepanerai are right with Cannon but Nikon just released in November the D40, a digital SLR and it can be had for 499 USD for the body alone in the US and 599 USD with a zoom lense. At that price, except for those absolutely needing a very small carrying camera, there is no need to get the fixed lense non SLR camera any more. The price does mean you get a reduction in some features but for the person wanting a quick move up to DSLR without a lot of cost, it is perfect. Nikon D40 Review I am not a Cannon user but they have excellent cameras. The Canon EOS 400D lovepanerai mentioned (has a lot more features), however is twice the price of the new Nikon offering but that won't be for long. There is no way that Cannon will not match a similar camera and let Nikon grab market share for this price range. The Rebel XTI is about 800 USD to 1000 USD depending on who offers it. Like all consumer equipment, you don't have to wait long for updates and new offerings. But just remember, this is an expensive hobby that creaps up on you as your needs and wants extend. Most people having DSLR's that want to do good photography have at least three lenses, lense attachments, a steady tripod, flash units - and the list goes on and on. Add that all up and you are in for a good amount. Usil
  23. I'm happy with my purchases - all setting prettily in my nice two drawer view window watch box. I do hope that some terminology is sorted out by our dealers with Pugwashes efforts in another thread and I will be more careful about what dealer I use in the future but I am generally happy with my purchases. There is only one thing that I am unhappy about and that is about my PO that now has a scratched crystal from just putting it temporarily into my carryon bag as I passed through security in an airport. I definitely got caught with the 'synthetic saphire' issue meaning from this dealer - it is really just mineral glass. Bummer. Usil
  24. Very nice looking watch. Do you have to worry about the staying power of the gold over a long period of time wearing it? or will normal wear not harm it that much? Usil
