  1. Hitting refresh was it. Wierd. Thanks, Usil
  2. I tried to change the avatar and was not successful. Every time I pointed to new picture it simply loaded the old one with the new dimensions. Even after I deleted old avatar, same thing. Am I mising something? Usil
  3. Nice Trip. Usil
  4. With care that would suffice to keep it in good condition. I was just picturing it on my arm after a few months. There would be no doubt that it would look terrible. Usil
  5. I have read several posts in the past few months about the closing off of our ability to get repair parts for certain movements. I was browsing and found this site: British Horological Institute ) who feel as we do that something is wrong with this. They are trying to address this by providing a petition that they will use to lodge a formal complaint. Here is the link: Petition Page Since this would provide relief for us too, maybe we sould consider lending support. Usil
  6. Very nice strap. Usil
  7. Looks like a policy of first time business = no PayPal is the best way to go. That and/or known members of this forum. The dealers could always keep a simple buyers list shared with those dealers on this forum. Simple Excel list kept on someone's server. Not perfect but a place to start when checking if person has made ok purchases before or not. Usil
  8. Mikellem: I did a google search for 'Lonestar Watch Company in Tx' and did not see anything. Can you provide the city and address? Is it in the Dallas Ft. Worth area? Thanks, Usil
  9. There is no way I would want an acrylic crystal on any watch. ACRYLIC = PLASTIC = SCRATCHES I would take Saphire every time even if the orig had acrylic. Acrylic is an inferior crystal material and while this was the original material, this is a replica and adding a plastic crystal still makes this a replica. So, give me the Saphire please so my nice replica stays shiny and scratch free for ever. Usil
  10. What is the easy remedy for this? Can you explain? Usil
  11. My PAM 063 also has a wobbly crown. Almost like it is on gimbals. Has never interfered with operation of watch but I have no idea what is going on with this. Can anyone explain why? Usil
  12. Excellent, and congratulations to your son for his accomplishment. I still remember the ceramony when I received Eagle (my parents standing nearby) and mark it as one of the most important things I ever did. Plus, this is recognized today. In our quality management group of 5 there are three Eagle Scouts. Usil
  13. I can't make up my mind if I like them or not but they are very different. I think they could go well with a Panerai. Usil
  14. I can not add any more than has been said but I hope that time smooths all of this over for you. You need a break and you deserve it. Usil
  15. I have a LaCie electron22blue III and calibrate the monitor using my video card control software. I need to get a true calibrator but so far this has been sufficient. Since I saw the variation in the top image and not the others, I did not believe it to be a calibration issue but differences in the actual images. What kind of calibration kit do you use? Do you use an LCD screen or regular monitor. So far, I have stayed away from LCD screens but that was 5 years ago when I got the LaCie, so I am sure things have changed siince then. Usil
  16. A little movement for me and a healthy whack for you - we were both lucky. Usil
  17. The subtleties you are capturing in your pictures call for exactness where as the same variation for my landscapes is just a matter of preference. No one will ever see the exact place and time and light I take my pictures so my final product has room for variations but for display purposes like this there is no room for leaway. I think yours is the harder and requires much higher Photoshop skills. Usil
  18. If I had not seen the first picture I would have said black all the way. Can you see what I was talking about in the first picture? Looks a little warmer in color. Usil
  19. I did exactly what nanuq explained (in this post) a few months ago on a watch that could not be set just using the regulator arm. I knew I was in dangerous teritory but went ahead anyway. I also looked at the direction of the coil and used Nanuq's explanation in making a small movement adjustment. Once I did that, I was able to successfully set the timing with the regulator arm so the logic must have been correct. I would not do this on an expensive watch and considered myself lucky on this try. Usil
  20. A GTG would be nice. My wife is gone this month on home leave but when she returns let's set a date. Also, ryyannon. Usil
  21. I am looking at the strap and can not tell if it is black or a maroon color. The top one looks to have a maroon color and the other two seem to be black. It seems that the strap is more difficult to photograph than the watch. I have seen this on some strap sites and have held off on purchases because I can not tell exactly what the color is (usually the photo is too dark). Usil
  22. They are sisters and yes, I thought their rooms were a little untidy. Brook just signed a contract with NBC to do some TV stuff. They like her energy. Usil
  23. Yes, the Asian is a little rough in the winding but it keeps good time and it is so beautiful. Thank for the info. Usil
  24. For the replica, I believe the older version (non decorated is an ETA 6498). What is the new decorated back version? Usil
