  1. It's not a button. It's a Helium Valve.
  2. That's hideous!
  3. Watching CSI recently, as one does, the sarcastic Captain Brass was asked how many watches he had when they opened a petty thief's watch drawer. His answer was "Two dress, two sport." So, if I had to choose based on the Brass criteria, I'd have a Sub and an Aquatimer chrono for the sport and a 183 and Big Pilot for the dress. Actually, I've not really thought it out, but that's my off-the-top-of-my-head response.
  4. You remove the stem to take the movement out. I don't have a picture of that exact stem, assuming that anyone even considering this would know how to remove and replace the stem. However, this is what a stem from a 2836 looks like:
  5. This is something I don't get. Why do so many people that simply shouldn't need to cheat do so? Look at Maradona, Ronaldo or even Schumacher in F1. They're supposed to be the best, right? Well, if you cheat, it gets impossible to be purely objective.
  6. Not if you count the 3717 or the uPO as a SuperRep ...

  8. I was raised in Yorkshire, too!
  9. Damn, this post is out of date. I need to add my Superocean, Chrono Avenger, Noob LV, 3717 ...
  10. If you wear your replica for 30 seconds, it'll be wound enough to set it. You don't need to wind it, but I have had no problems doing so. And yes, I have quite a few replicas. Look at the "My Collection" link below my signature.
  11. There is a very thick layer of clear acrylic over the lume. That's what you're seeing. You can see it here:
  12. Damn, way beyond me. This does bode well for Aquatimer Chrono relumes, though.
  13. I have 20+ replicas, including several Asian 7750 reps. The only one that's a problem is the IWC Portuguese Chrono. Oh, I don't bother with a winder. I just wind them, set them and wear them as needed.
  14. Woo Yay! Got me a pinned movement mod!
  15. Ah, that's an optical illusion. What you're seeing is the clear acrylic around the luminous dot reflecting the lighting, making it look like there's a metal bezel around the pearl. There isn't. Look at this one: It looks identical.
  16. I'm getting the Aquatimer because ... well, because it's a beauty. It's what they should have released instead of the CD in my opinion. Sure, it's not as loud and shiny, but it'd be a more subtle seller, and it'll not date anywhere as near as much as the CD. Imagine it's coming up to the new year at the end of 2007 and you're picking a watch to wear. Do you think the CD or the BB will still be as exciting then? I bet you'd pick a Slevin or a 3717 over them.
  17. That is a cool idea, DIY dial inserts.
  18. Afford? Sell those two Rolexes and buy a GMT. I think she's just showing off. Oh, she has a Daytona too. That is an ancient picture of Maradona, but I prefer the one of his getting busted by Italian police and getting his twin-subs confiscated.
  19. In case it's not been mentioned recently, this is a pretty damned good list: http://jitteryjim.com/?page_id=432 I've contributed a few grabs and suggest you do the same.
  20. Good luck in the heat, Muttsta!
  21. He's in Thailand?
  22. Here's a link to my review of the IWC 3706.
  23. Have fun up there.
  24. I'll be putting my 3706 up for trade soon. It's 39-40mm and a similar style to the 3717. Is this the sort of thing you're looking for?
