  1. MAKE THE PIE HIGHER by George W. Bush I think we all agree, the past is over. This is still a dangerous world. It's a world of madmen and uncertainty and potential mental losses. Rarely is the question asked Is our children learning? Will the highways of the Internet become more few? How many hands have I shaked? They misunderestimate me. I am a pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity. I know that the human being and the fish can coexist. Families is where our nation finds hope, where our wings take dream. Put food on your family! Knock down the tollbooth! Vulcanize society! Make the pie higher! Make the pie higher! http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/piehigher.asp
  2. If you're in the EU, you're probably better off getting it yourself.
  3. People, I'm not organising the group buy. I'm just shipping one package off to Deltahoe in the US. He's taking orders and shipping them to members, not me. I'll be getting one set for myself at the same time.
  4. We're all hoping that this case will be as good as advertised. However, if it is as good as he says, I am pretty certain that it will be available from everyone shortly after for under $300.
  5. A well-built replica should survive 5 years unworn.
  6. Ok, it's a $250 rep. So you got $70 or 28% off ... It's good, but it's not earth-shattering. Does the dealer do this price on all reps or just returns/overstock? Besides, I fail to see what any of this has to do with SuperReps.
  7. Today, I'm wearing this old thing, trying to work out whether to sell it or keep it ...
  8. The reason for the negative comments is because WM9 has been scamming people for years, even sending shills over here with adverts pretending to be reviews. His outrageously overpriced watches were $550 noobmariners. Everything he says is liable to be taken with a huge pinch of salt because we've had a year of his vastly overinflated claims and shills. It's more experience than ignorance.
  9. It doesn't matter. A dealer is in this for money and they're entitled to a fair profit (up to 40% of retail is fair in most retail industries) no matter what we think. To be honest though, a SS Bentley isn't a $300 rep: It's a $230 rep. I doubt a smaller dealer can get desirable 7750-based reps at under $180 day in, day out.
  10. Always.
  11. Understood. Yes, Andrew needs to stop lying, but he knows this and he's not about to stop. Sorry for sounding harsh, but dealers misleading us bugs me.
  12. Please don't use the name ETA in your description. It's not an ETA, it's not even a copy of an ETA. Using the term ETA just confuses the noobs.
  13. I would think he had too much stock and was selling at cost.
  14. Because the regular movements we insist upon are different dimensions to the Rolex movement. Until we get an off-the-shelf Rolex-compatible movement, we're not going to get an accurate Sub.
  15. In theory, yes. In practice, there's a backlog created by crappy QC. I've been waiting for weeks now for my dealer to get decent ones back in stock. The new and improved Navitimers have an unusable offset slide-rule and no AR. Lovely reps that they are, and I have one, they're not as close as the so-called Super Reps.
  16. 18000 or 21600, more like.

  18. I always assumed he was a Perl database developer.
  19. Unless it's this one: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=9399
  20. A friend of mine had a window broken recently by some pesky neds. He was trying to press charges until the police pointed out that he'd best let it drop as he'd mangled one of the the guy's arms pretty badly hitting it with a plank. I love stories where neds end up getting hurt. Ned: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ned_%28Scottish%29
  21. In Scotland! What's even funnier is that I had to desaturate the photos as they were far too green and warm. Here's what the weather looked like straight off the camera:
  22. It's been reported in dealer's threads, general discussions and all sorts. I thought it would be rather hard to avoid, but apparently not. In case it's also not common knowledge, ETA are going to stop selling ebauches, 7750s are increasing in price, Elvis is still dead, Cousteau Diver Chronos have hideous QC issues but great AR and has anyone seen Finepics? I'm trying to work out how I could have said it more kindly to be honest. I was expressing genuine shock that a man as well-read as you could have missed this one.
  23. We've been hearing about the 2824 shortages for quite a while now. How come this is new news?
  24. He might buy this Breitling:
