  1. Serious owners? You mean the ones that originally bred the American Pitbull as a fighting dog, or the ones that tried to beat/cull the 'attack your owner' gene out of them? All the stupid owners are doing is returning the breed to its original design.
  2. Because we both review watches we buy (or get gifted or win in raffles), and we both have a certain amount of taste (albeit different taste), we're usually only going to review good watches.
  3. Same with me and the green-bezel GMT-Master II. It's a complete fantasy watch, but it's the one Rolex should have made. As for free/discounted watches for review, I'd like the idea simply because I want more watches than I can afford. It's not like I'd lie for free stuff, but I suspect if it were to ever happen, dealers wouldn't offer the crap for review. ps. Sorry for the lateness on my IWC article, the PortoChrono review and the Navitimer review I'm supposed to get done, but my holiday got in the way.
  4. Ri-i-i-ight. Why is the Pitbull the number one choice for illegal dog-fights? Seriously, I understand BSL is a bit silly, but why do irresponsible owners choose this kind of dog? This is the very crux of the matter and to ignore it shows an unwillingness to debate the real issue. Oh, an interesting statistic: un-neutered male dogs apparently account for 96% of all fatal dog attacks.
  5. If it's the kind of dog that attracts irresponsible owners, then of course it's going to banned on their actions. Face it, no-one needs attack dogs as pets. I see them the same as rednecks' over-the-top .50cal rifles.
  6. Then don't ask "Who has the best Sub". It's the noob question. Get TTK's $100 Sub. It's the best value for money out there. There, that's the answer.
  7. I can't speak for By-Tor, but I know I'm not going anywhere soon. Keep reading and commenting and we'll keep posting. As for the influence they have, I've received many a PM about the IWC GST or the MoonWatch, for instance, with people telling me their purchase was directly attributed to my pictorials. It's very flattering, and stuff like that encourages me to do more (like my By-Tor-inspired IWC guide due soon). Still, I'm just standing on the shoulders of giants. There are many whose reviews and pictorials encouraged me to buy watches, too.
  8. Not really. However, if you pay someone to add a pricey cog to the ETA2836, and you pay them a Swiss salary, you have effectively doubled the cost.
  9. It's just a cheap strap V was offloading while I was buying a 183. He had a 26mm strap, I needed a 26mm strap ... It's gorgeous, and I'm shocked no-one had snapped it up before I got it.
  10. The strap in the wrist-shot is a second-hand Toscana Marrone 2. The one in the following shot (the one on it now) was second-hand from V.
  11. Find? If you can tell me when it was, I'll grab it like I did that one.
  12. Here's what I'm wearing today:
  13. If you read back, you'll find it has happened, but it's very rare.
  14. One of mine, iirc. Oh, and I read the post and thought everything in there was already common knowledge here. Sorry. Swiss Made: 50% of the value has to be produced in Switzerland. http://www.fhs.ch/en/swissm.php
  15. It is cheaper for the dealer than PP. If a dealer accepts MB, they may well take a discount over what they'd charge for PP. Ask them, it's around 10% difference. Also, MB is by far the best option for EU buyers. You can do direct bank transfers to and from your MB account.
  16. Super Experts ... Away!
  17. I'll get you a photoshopped screen grab later this week. If you can tell me the episode/time it appears, I can get it sooner.
  18. I bought it before my holiday. I tried a gen on while on holiday and realised how good the rep was. I was tempted by the Pandas, Dominos, etc., but this one spoke to me.
  19. TRC and RWG (here) are run by the same bloke, but posts don't mirror from one to the other. RWI is not linked in any way, nor is WatchTrader. Old RWG (necrophilia central) is just festering alone.
  20. I travel with one (a Seiko, usually) if I'm leaving Europe. I return with more than one sometimes.
  21. Back from Thailand, back to my reps: I've put a black strap on it though.
  22. I got lucky too. My pearl fell out (possibly due to desk abuse caused by my getting used to a steel watch) and I got a $10 bezel insert from eBay. I don't remember where I got it, so don't PM me with requests. ps. Noobmariners rock!
  23. This much has never been in dispute. ps. I picked up that Orange Monster you turned down, by the way. I couldn't resist it.
  24. You know ... you're exactly right. I had this same info from one of the stalls.
