  1. Don't mind me, I'm just posting because there's an IWC section ... Love 'em both. Old-school lighting.
  2. Indeed she did. This is the view out of our hall window:
  3. First pics:
  4. Traditionally, it's not about manufacture but design. Are you going to tell me now that the French can't design stuff as well as the Chinese?
  5. Amazing that these are the first comments since the article was posted in March. Thanks for the bump, guys.
  6. So, we're only allowed to insult Muslims and their entire faith? Reread what you posted and tell me if it sounds like the fanatical rantings of a fevered extremist to you. If there's one thing I can't abide, it's hypocrisy.
  7. History called him a Nazi. I'm just merely quoting ancient documents. Hang on ... (geddit?) Ok, let's look at the data. The pope was in the Hitler Youth movement, which means he had to at some point call himself a nazi, even if he lied. His revisionist stance on German history (a highly controversial claim that a "ring of criminals" were responsible for nazism and that the German people were as much their victims as anyone else) is just two steps away from holocaust denial and his refusal to acknowledge anti-semetism in Germany when visiting Auschwitz do nothing to dispel this possibility. The pope was a Nazi, he was a soldier in the Nazi army and he was a member of Hitler Youth. This is historical fact that no-one denies. Now, all they do is discuss how much of a Nazi he was, playing down certain aspects and playing up others as the catholic PR machine does what it does best: preaches fairy tales as gospel, literally. Disclosure: I'm an aetheist, albeit an educated one.
  8. My 111h is water resistant to a dunk-in-cup test, but I have a Seiko SKX031 automatic for when I'm considering swimming or something.
  9. I like the look Ti gets when it's left to go wild. I'm hoping I don't need to clean mine any time soon.
  10. Are you wearing my Sub?
  11. I thought this thread was over
  12. This is a religious answer, and as such, is completely and utterly biased and therefore to be ignored. Firstly, you can't judge people by your religion and not respect that theirs may be the one true way unless you want to just give up on debate and preach to us (at which point, the door is over there, god-botherer) and secondly, 30 Virgins? It's 72, and no-one, not even suicide bombers or other 'martyrs' actually believe that, as it's 'western' propaganda from a misinterpretation of a holy text. To acknowledge they may be on their way to hell is to acknowledge that they may be right.
  13. How can I get this thread moved to the new IWC section? http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=11953
  14. I can convert them all to HTML and Phoband can put them on The Zigmeisterinfo.com if you want.
  15. I don't doubt for a minute he could. He is that talented. However, I never asked as I believe it'd be easier to buy pre-lumed hands from Ofrei, as superlume would not be accurate for this watch. I'm sure the hands are a standard size. If not, it's no big deal. It's visually 100% on the wrist in daytime, and to me, that's enough. Close examination off the wrist? It'd still pass muster. Hell, pre-modding, it passed the AD test. In total, this project has cost me (assuming retail and not counting the fact the watch cost $55 of raffle tickets) the price of an unmodded MBW Sub. The movement isn't as good as an IWC movement and the case isn't pressure-hardened titanium, but these are invisible differences, and The Zigmeister has fettled the Asian 7750, so it's as good as I'll ever need. If nothing else, you can use the proud grin on my face as an advert for The Zigmeister's outstanding service and craftsmanship. I suspect he doesn't need another advert as he's most likely got enough work to keep him busy until entropy kicks in and gives us the Heat-death of the Universe.
  16. Good taste you have there, sir.
  17. This is a good idea. I'll start doing the same, seeing as I appear to have a pile of Chronos to review.
  18. My PortoChrono and FrankenGST, posted in celebration of the new IWC section.
  19. Have you asked Finepics, like everyone has suggested?
  20. Not if I refuse to accept it, no. This isn't a new law. I've been going on about this since I arrived here: It's been like this for years. This is one of the reasons it's hard to find anyone to work on reps here.
  21. Yup, replicas are illegal here. Still, you do see some around.
  22. My brother, the one I'm visiting next week, lives in Bangkok and he went to work as usual this morning. It was a quicker journey due to the quiet streets and he told me they'd removed the tank outside his office and replaced it with two armed soldiers. His boss, US-ex-military, informed him the big gun he saw near his work was a 106mm Recoilless rifle (M40), designed to take out tanks. It is apparently all over bar the arrest of the PM. See, there's one thing you can't do in Thailand and that's go against the King, even if the king doesn't mind. You can't sack his generals as that immediately means you're assuming his duties and the Thai people will not have anyone slighting their beloved (and I use that word in its real sense) King.
  23. Yay! All those years writing role-playing game manuals for a living finally paid off.
  24. I'm already working on a "Definitive guide to IWC" much like By-Tor's Omega one. An IWC section would be perfect for it. I'm throwing my hat into the ring on this one.
  25. Yesterday was this. Today may be something different.
