  1. Apart from the fact there's no such thing as Swiss-made replicas, are you sure the movements are ETA (aka 'swiss') inside? If so, it may be worth getting them fixed.
  2. I didn't ask him to, to be honest. It's barely noticeable on the watch.
  3. I believe RWI is indeed down and has been for a while.
  4. Honestly, I'd never even considered it.
  5. Top notch. You're a better man than I.
  6. 1: The text of SCHAFFHAUSEN was too far left. 2: No lume. Compare the N of SCHAFFHAUSEN on the two dials above and you'll see it's to far left on the rep.
  7. I'll write a proper review later, but I wanted to get the first pics up before the day ended.
  8. Not much point. Only the dial has lume. Where can I get lumed hands?
  9. This is my most popular watch. It's my default state if I can't decide what to wear. The IWC GST Chrono (3707-003) was the heir to the legacy of the titanium watches IWC made with Porsche in 1978, the first ever titanium watches. It was, in my opinion, the high watermark in their range of titanium chronos, simple and basic enough to be seen as a design classic while losing the overtly 80s stylings of its predecessors. The bracelet design is commonly (at least by me) regarded as the finest metal bracelet design ever made by a major manufacturer. Details on the bracelet are available here. Pre-service, stunning watch I won my IWC GST from Precious Time as one of his raffle prizes. My first one packed in fairly soon after getting it, and PT stepped up to the plate and willingly replaced it, making me exceedingly happy. Stock shot, pre-redial The movement in this IWC model is based on the ETA Valjoux 7750, with several key modifications to increase longevity and accuracy, none of which are available, unfortunately, in the replica. This replica has an Asian 7750 copy running at 28,800 vibrations per hour. spinny-spinny-spin-thing Knowing that these 7750s were touch and go, and having botched a calibration, I decided that as this watch was going to be with me for some time, it would be prudent to send it off to our very own The Zigmeisterzumba to get a complete service and calibration. The Zigmeister graciously relented to take time out of his busy schedule to take a picture mid-service, and you can see in this picture the sheer amount of complicated wibbly bits that go into a chronograph movement. The master's bench, a privilege When it came back to me, the day-wheel popped off, causing the day to half-change every evening. Luckily for me, The Zigmeister once again showed his character (in case you're wondering. It's his world, we merely live in it) and said he'd see to it once he returned from his holiday. During this time, I picked up a genuine dial, albeit with some minor cosmetic damage. The Zigmeister said that he'd be willing to fit the dial. Off back to Canada then ... ready to be packed up to Canada I returned home yesterday to find a pile of watches waiting for me, but this was the first I opened. It was with some trepidation that I opened the packet, but my fears were unfounded as I now had simply the most accurate replica IWC GST on these boards. Stock shot - post modifications The service on the 7750 movement is too soon to judge, but The Zigmeister said that the movement was pristine and in my mind, that means it should last for a good few years before it heads back to Canada for its next service. post-service, pre-frankendial, seeing the sights You will all see many more pictures of this watch over the following years. Feel free to ask any questions in this thread. Thanks go out to the following people for having in some way affected this article, be it in a passive or active role: Precious Time, The Zigmeisterzumba, Ubiquitous, By-Tor, Richard Tracy, Edge, Repaustria and TTK. I may have forgotten some of my influencers while writing this list, so if you think you should be on this list, you probably should.
  10. I'm putting up a quick pictorial of the PortoChrono...
  11. Go get your coat.

    Paris

I'll be out of the country over xmas/new-year so I'll miss you, I'm afraid.
  14. Just the one pic, I'm afraid. Apparently, I just don't have time yet to take more. Full reviews/pictorials of both due soon, I promise! Note: Genuine dial on the right.
  15. I think you'll find it was both sides commiting atrocities in the name of the same god and country. Neither side in Northern Ireland has anything to be proud about, regardless of which Glaswegian footie team you support.
  16. I feel that the Expert Area gets as much attention as Sticky Posts, ie. Nearly none. As someone that tries to help n00bz, I can't believe how many times a request for openly-available is made. It's not like you even need to search for it that hard! Unless you put something in your signature, like I do with my Photo Tutorials, people just don't seem willing to go out of their way to get info.
  17. I will post pics later today, but if you just look at photos of a gen, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Seriously, it's a winner. If I can get lumed hands, it'll be a perfect frankenwatch from the wrist.
  18. And therein lies the rub.
  19. Arrr, apart from the fact Nanuq told the "Drivin' me nuts" and "Fetch me my brown trousers" jokes that I make a tradition of telling this time every year, I'll just slip into pirate-speak to explain what I'm wearing. "Arr, I've clapped a handsome Portuguese Man-O-War to me wrist. Sailin' a schooner in silver and gold on the High Double-you Seas."
  20. Oh yeah, as an Englishman, I just thought it fair to comment that throughout most of my life, I was aware of the terrorist threat that hung over England, and heard bombs go off in the cities where I lived. The terrorists were ostensibly Christian.
  21. No, I'm just saying that the pope deliberately enflamed them, and knew that's what he was doing. He's still secretly Nazi, in my opinion. He espouses the view that Fascism and the Nazi party were a trick played on the Germans as most of the German people, he claims, didn't realise Nazism was what it was. He's a revisionist and a provocateur. Not what you want at the head of any religion, to be honest. As for antagonising the Muslims, they are their own worst enemy when it comes to this kind of thing and I'm not even going to try to defend them. Not that I'm calling Gran a revisionist and a provocateur, of course.
  22. The Pope did exactly what Gran did: Deliberately encited a violent reaction. Everything you're labelling the Muslims with, you're doing. The Pope, like Gran, has an agenda. We'll know what it is later when fires erupt all over the place.
  23. My GST was waiting for me when I got back from Scotland and ... it's perfect. Thanks a kazillion to The Zigmeister for doing the work, the dial just fits exactly. He had to saw off the feet, but it's 100% perfect. The nick on the dial (visible on the photo) isn't really visible on the watch, unless you know to look for it, and it's got lume! I now have the most accurate GST rep around. Pics tonight.
  24. If you're talking about one of my straps, it's most likely a Toscana from TC Straps. Elliot Lazarus over on RWI sells them. http://timeconnection.biz/page/timeco/CTGY/TS
  25. That's just dot-gain and bleed. Nothing that can't be dialled out. Nice work.
