Fiddle while Rome burns and get ready for the rebuild. Ok, maybe not. The problem was people bought houses and not homes. Screw the value, get somewhere to live, not an investment.

Apart from the last two, they're actually not that good and I'll admit it. I didn't want to spend so much time on post-processing pictures to gloss over stuff. We get given quick snaps to identify all the time. At least mine are mildly in focus.

Sorry to be posting the kind of thread I find mildly annoying, but I'd like anyone good at movements to tell me if any of these movements are fake/replica/asian ETA movements. All three are from different watches and at least one is gen. Think you can tell? For reference, here are two 100% gen ETA movements. ps. Yes, I know the answer.

If you're looking for a decent Speedmaster rep, you have to know that you will never get one with a correct dial. There are loads with 42mm cases but not a single one with the correct subdial spacing. The Lemania movement isn't available for replica makers so they use the Seagull ST19 which has a completely different subdial spacing.

The term "1:1" is a marketing term. It means nothing. Don't trust those who sell you stuff; trust the reviewers here. If an expert here says something takes gen parts, it takes gen parts. If a dealer says it takes gen parts, wait for the independent review before hunting for that gen bezel on eBay.

One piece of free advice: Never ever, ever put superglue (or any other cyanoacrylate glue) near movements. The fumes can kill mechanical watch movements dead. Also, ever seen CSI, where they use superglue to get fingerprints? Imagine you had a fingerprint on your crystal and opened a tube of superglue next to it. The fumes would pick up the grease and leave a mark on your crystal.
