  1. Oh, to confirm, that's a whole day the sub-dial at six has been well-behaved. It was just a rep glitch, nothing more.
  2. Let's see ... I took these shots in the kitchen with no camera lights and no light box, just harsh kitchen spots. Some shots are exceedingly long exposures and a lot are stopped doen -1/3ev or -2/3ev to stop the highlights burning out, then brought back up in iPhoto. Why harsh lighting? Three reasons - first, because I wanted to show the AR and that sort of lighting does the best job. Second, I just got home from a night away from home (Mogwai gig in Edinburgh) and didn't have time to set everything up. And yes, it always pays to experiment with different lighting. Oh, and the third reason for the kitchen? It's a homage to Ubiquitous's granite surface.
  3. This is why I don't change date-wheels for people. It's like most things, when you're doing it for yourself, it's a hobby and you do the best job possible. When you're doing it for others, it's a job and you do as you do at work.
  4. It's my only browsing method. Here's my shortcut to RWG: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?act=Se...amp;CODE=getnew
  5. Starting and stopping the chrono has fixed the running hand at 6.

  7. Yeah, the chrono at 6 keeps running. No big deal, and not worth sending it back for.
  8. I just got a new watch, courtesy of the great LordRasta, and was considering doing a review, but there are better ones than I'd write listed in the Breitling Guide. Besides, you all just want to see pictures, right? Without any further ado, here's my new Skyland! Clicking a picture enlarges it. All shots are taken in harsh light to show just how good the AR is - best I've seen on a rep out of the box! I never wear this kind of watch on the steel bracelet, and I already have a leather strap waitling for this, but I didn't own a rubber strap, so I took the opportunity to get this one. What a gorgeous dial! Here's a comparison of the BCE and the Skyland. See how much deeper the Skyland is?
  9. I bumped into a friend of mine last night at a gig and she was wearing a Sub. She's a lot younger than me, but there was no doubt it was a gen. Her brother pointed out I knew a bit about watches. I mentioned that it was a very recognisable watch and she said it was her boyfriend's. "Is it a good one?" she asked, wondering if it was regarded as a decent choice by people who know watches. I told her it was and she beamed with pride her boyfriend, a what-used-to-be-called-first-division football manager, had a decent watch as opposed to poor taste. She just knew it was a nice watch. It would never have occurred to her, a gen Rolex-wearer, that my Breitling BCE I was wearing wasn't gen. I told her some of mine are fakes and some aren't.
  10. Mine just arrived. Expect pictures soon!
  11. I tell people I own gens and reps and let them guess which are which. Invariably they guess the reps are gens and wait for the crappy reps to turn up. Oh, apart from the vintage MBKs where I say they started off as 100% fake and they'll finish off as almost all-genuine parts.
  12. Rep phones don't copy the OS. The OS is what makes the iPhone special.
  13. I read it that he later went to the guy's shop with the reps.
  14. What's that rule again? Oh yes, don't take your reps to an AD.
  15. Ubi, have you tried the Angelus route yet?
  16. Welcome from another near-Glasgow member.
