  1. Death would be too short. Thanks, guys! I'll try to survive another year.
  2. http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Awww.hublot.com+7750 Repeatedly.
  3. Sorry, but this is not true. The Hublot uses a modded 7750, just like the reps. How can you be sure? Apart from the photos of the movement showing the "7750" text clearly, the 7753 cannot change date with the crown. As there is no pusher at 10 o' clock, it's not a 7753. The last piece of proof it's a modded 7750 is that the date is recessed, just like on the reps. This is why the Big Bang is so accurate a replication. If that's not enough proof, look to Hublot's documentation where they repeatedly say they're using the 7750. Why do they not use a 7753? Because they're cheapskates, just like the replica makers. Can we please lay the false assumption it's a 7753 to rest now?
  4. I like the sport, but I hate the obsession the media has pushed us into having over it to the exclusion of all other sports.
  5. Actually, it's Soccer, even in the UK. Soccer is a bastardisation of the word Association in Association Football (as opposed to Rugby Football, the origin of American, Australian and Canadian football) which is the correct name for what we call Football in the UK.
  6. For the UK, try http://www.tz-uk.com/forum/

  8. I do find it annoying when people get so wound up over footie. Try living in Glasgow and seeing them panning each other in over what team they support. In Larkhall, it's so bad they smash the traffic lights because they're green because that's the colour the opposing team wears. So, please excuse me when I roll my eyes over team politics.
  9. How can the digital medium affect image quality? Blu-Ray just contains ones and zeros. Both HD-DVD and BD use the same h.264 MPEG4 files, so there is no physical difference in the data that comes off the disks. Players differ, but that has nothing to do with the formats. It didn't matter who won, but the format war was hurting everyone. It needed to end fast and I'm glad it did.
  10. Just another capitalist venture. What were you expecting?
  11. Well, yes, you can spend yourself out of any problem, if you have the cash. Using my Macro lens, I have zero control over aperture. DSLR reverse Macro I'll try this technique over the next few days.
  12. Sure is. You can't use really tight apertures on most macro lenses, and if you do, they're a function of the distance from the lens. In other words, because slow shutter speeds and high f-stops simply don't cut it for Macro work.
  13. If you're pirating it, don't pay for it. I've not yet tried the new features in Photoshop CS4, but I've done the layering one by hand on earlier versions. Astro-photographers have been doing it for years (Registacks springs to mind) with webcams on telescopes using this sort of technique to remove atmospheric blurring. I can't wait to see what they can do with this in Photoshop instead! Thanks for the post, it's making me think.
  14. Amazing review. When I posted my Watchstation Skyland pictorial and mentioned there were better reviews than I could have written, this was exactly what I had in mind Awesome!
  15. Hang on ... Let me get this straight. "most folk can't even tell the difference between 720p and 1080p" Let's assume you meant 1080i (a higher frame rate than 1080p). "720p is a smoother image overall" So, it's smoother, but you can't tell the difference? Huh.
  16. I'm with you, MP. I can tell the difference between 720 and 1080 on a 23" Also, you don't buy Plasma, you merely rent it for 5-6 years.
  17. That movement is an old SeaGull ST25 movement. I seem to remember posting the likeness to the 3135 back when Gran posted his first SeaGull movement guide. Edit: Correction of the movement name. It's not an ST18.
  18. It works for all kinds of pictures, yes. As for being a white bag, why not give it a go and post the results with your tan bags?
  19. I'm a fan of IWC watches and still have not even considered one of these yet. I love the Big Pilot and am waiting for a decent rep. If you're going to wear something that big, it has to look right.
  20. Ok, let's clear one thing up before it gets confusing. 1080p is actually 1080p24, meaning 24 full frames (progressive) a second. This is the frame rate movies are filmed at. 1080i comes in two flavours: 1080i50 and 1080i60. These are interlaced (half a frame at a time) at 50 or 60 frames a second, meaning they can do progressive at 1080p25 or 1080p30. So, when people talk about 1080p, they're talking about movies in HD. When they're talking about 1080i, they're talking about TV. 720p is actually 720p60, which is full frame at 60fps. This is hands down the best option for sport and is about the same bandwidth as 1080i. 720x1280x60=55926 ~ 1080x1920x30=62208
  21. No, they're broadcast in 1080i. Just because you don't do 1080 in the US doesn't mean no-one does it.
  22. The 40" Bravia LCD. My Brother-in-law has one and it's the best choice for the price. As for 1080 not being worth it at smaller sizes, that's complete rubbish.
  23. It's also really easy to do when you're at a friend's house with nothing but your camera. Instant cheapo light tent!
