Totally Newbie Stupid Pam Strap / Tube / Screw ???
Steve G replied to Steve G's topic in General Discussion
Great thanks. I would gather that the tube protects the screw and allows less stress to the strap screw. But tubeless feels secure enough. Having not received a rep with strap wasn't sure if tubes were provided or sought out seperately? -
Ok this is really a stupid question, I'm not really new to PAM's but I am to the strap side of them. I only have one PAM 90 which was purchased with SS bracelet. I have a 111h on the way. I did purchase some straps from a member here. Took off bracelet put straps on PAM 90 using the screws from the bracelet. It sort of dawns on me, Tubes??? I've seen them on ebay, heard people refer to them, do I need them??? I assume the go inside the strap, screw inserts in the tube. Right now I'm going tubeless Any problem with this Am I doing it wrong? I feel dumb when it comes to straps, I'm kind of getting into them and Panerai's for that matter ( a whole other addiction) so anyone who can shed proper light on "how to put on a strap" would be appreciated. Thanks

I spoke to Andrew yesterday regarding this situation. I have an order pending. This just shows why I continue to order from Andrew, trusty is an understatement. He has wonderful communication with his customers and certainly delivers and goes all out. Just a simple "thanks for what you do" Andrew. Hopefully this problem will fade out and not hinder the rep community as I'm certainl other dealers are affected.

Great work Randy, the watch looks amazing! No doubt I have a greater appreciation for those who are "crafty" with their abilities, considering I made my first attempt (with your help and movement of course) with not as good as your results. But it was fun, and you have to start somewhere. Wear in good health my friend. ps. I thnk my wife is now hooked on the scrapjazz site.

I received one from Andrew last week. (Whitel dial and blue hands/markers). However I ordered the one with the asian 21 jewel movement w/faux subdials. I also ordered a Breitling Navitimer w/7750 movement and the cost of buying two watches with said movement was beyond my watch buying budget at the time. The speedmaster I recieved is real nice, has a nice weight and feel and pretty much looks like it's more expensive counterpart, sans movement. I also didn't want to chance two 7750's, but the Breitling is showing no signs of problems, keeps good time and chronos reset perfectly, so we'll see. But I loved the look of the speedmaster so much especially in the white/blue color I had to have one, maybe one day I'll update to working chronos, but honestly don't think I care as much now having it.

I can see both sides to this really. However, In my case my wife and I both work, we have an eight month old daughter, live in a 3,000 sq foot home, I drive a 2005 Jag, she a 2006 Jetta, we have no debt and pull in well into six figures. Am I rich?..no. Can I afford a gen?, yeah, but I like variety I can and have over a dozen reps that I'm satisfied with. They make me feel good. Let's face it even if I had tons of cash, I don't think I'd spend $20,000 on a gen watch. In my circle of friends only the rolex draws some stares, but then again it's a SS Sub, people who know me know my excessive side and assume it's real, it's believable. My VC Overseas or Panerai's, most people I know never question, admire yes, but have no clue as to the real value of these watches in their gen state. Besides your average department store watch, whether it be a citizen, timex, whatever can set you back $200 to $400 easy, but you know what they aren't as attractive as the higher price watches IMO. So long story short I'll take the gen anyday. Better looking watch, which is really what matters to me. Cost effective enough to buy many, easily replaced if broken, and makes me happy every morning to get up and decide which one to wear today. I don't think it's about fooling people, at least for me. I have nobody to impress, but only myself to make happy. I suppose if you run in certain circles and are high profile, one may need to be concerned about being called out. That's a shallow life I wouldn't really want. Just happy to be with my family, and have some nice watches that are asethically as good as the real deal.

Review of BREITLING Navitimer "Serie Speciale" OUTDATED MODEL!
Steve G replied to By-Tor's topic in By-Tor's Watch Reviews
I just received my very same rep from Andrew last week. I really like this watch. I struggled with the 3-6-9 or 6-9-12 sub spacing, but ended up on the 6-9-12, after reading that an ETA 7750 is an easy swap with no mods. Anyway bracelet was a [censored] to re-size, not hard but very time consuming as By-Tor mentioned. So far the 7750 is accurate and chronos and resetting all perform as it should, i'm keeeping my fingures crossed. Ironically Breitling is the reason which brought me to seek out good quality replicas, but I ordered 12 other watches before buying this one -
Thanks much. I saw a post of your swap and sent you a PM hoping you might have it left over.

I have an LV sub with the asian 21 jewel movement and it has the following problems: The power reserve is pathetic, it will last as little as 20 min off the wrist after 20 winds. Sometimes it will go hours??? When on the wrist is seems to lose 4-5 minutes over an hour period. Any diagnosis out there, is there something this novice can do as far as adjustment of the minutes lost? Appreciate any help

Asian 7750 - How Many Problems Are There Really?
Steve G replied to Admin's topic in General Discussion
This is true. However I've never understood why some Panerai models are equiped with 7750's when there isn't a chrono function. I always thought that this movement was designed for chronos only? -

First concert was Rush 1984 Grace Under Pressure Tour at Radio City Music Hall NYC. But as of late the only shows I make it to are to see Pearl Jam. Going two nights next week in E. Rutherford. I've seen them like 25 times, travel to all sorts of cities even toronto. But now that I have a 7th month old daughter, the traveling to shows is impossible, so the wife and I will only go local. Right now they're the best band for the buck, always good, different setlists... anyway enough PJ hype

Review of BREITLING Navitimer "Serie Speciale" OUTDATED MODEL!
Steve G replied to By-Tor's topic in By-Tor's Watch Reviews
Great review Bytor! Glad to see you finally got your Navitimer I really think this will be my next watch purchase, It was the one that orginally drew me to reps, but ironically still haven't purchased due to 7750 gun shy I'm just not sure on the color yet, white with black subs, or black with silver, 6,9,12 placement or 3,6,9, it always leaves me overwhelmed. Best of luck with your new watch. -

hello just realized I paid too much from Ideawatches
Steve G replied to Nodnarb901's topic in Introduction/Rules/Support
Welcome Nodnarb. This place is real good and everyone for the most part is very helpful. I'm sorry to here about your "first time". I've been at this for several months, got my brother hooked as well and between us its been a race to the poor house. We have over a dozen reps between us. If it werent' for me stumbling onto RWG and TRC I would be posting just like you as I came real close to pulling he trigger on a $800 rep. But better days ahead, the dealers here are awesome and the merchandise intoxicating. I've delt with Andrew, Joshua and Precious Time all great each different in their own way. Looking forward to trying Eddie Lee in the future. Sorry I can't help with your questions, as I'm not very watch repair/mod profficient, but someone here will answer. Welcome aboard. -
I recently got a SMP from precious time, the bond watch, not the special edition with all the 007 stuff. Anyway very happy with the watch and the quality ETA version. The only problem is the bezel insert is not where it should be. The numbers should line up with the points, this is a common problem with this rep. Otherwise great watch.

Maybe you can get from one of the dealers? I just received my PAM 90 SS from Josh he had both models, but I spent a little more and got the one with the solid case back. There were other upgrade factors such as sapphire glass and heavier bracelet. Maybe Josh could send you a solid case back, just a thought.

Real good read Ethan, I enjoyed your analysis and certainly can relate.

My feeling is that I can have more. It's not a matter of being well off, sure I can afford one or two gens, but why when I can have a dozen or so reps, all with just about the same build quality sans movements. Nothing like wearing a different watch each day of the week. And let's face it despite the "minor" flaws these reps have, their damn good so good they'd fool 99% of most people. People mind you that hardly even know what to look for like us geeks. Plus how many people in your world have heard of half of these names, vacheron, panerai etc. Well I guess that depends on what part of the world your from I suppose. Outside of rolex most people haven't a clue, they know to look for the sweeping second hand and that's about it. And then there is the fact that owning a $3000+ gen usually means never wearing for fear of damage, theft or whatnot. Reps who care, well I do, but $200 isn't a bad investment for something that looks and feels so close, and if it breaks, easily replaced. Just my thoughts.

I like my Jaguar. I feel real fancy driving it especially sporting all of my reps.

King's advertised 14kt Bracelets with Sub...false advertising
Steve G replied to Whatch-A-Doin?'s topic in The Rolex Area
The only thing I can think of is that King was under the impression from her supplier, something not within her control? Not defending as I've never delt with her. Hopefully a mutually acceptable fix will happen. The dealers here seem to stand behind their stuff. Good luck -
King's advertised 14kt Bracelets with Sub...false advertising
Steve G replied to Whatch-A-Doin?'s topic in The Rolex Area
That's a shame. My father purchased a TT GMT rolex from precious time. It actually has real 14K gold in the bracelet and crown. PT did a whole tread in TRC and maybe here. Worth a read. Hopefully you'll resolve your situation.
