A great read with some very interesting information, but why on earth would ETA want to destroy the tooling and all the remaining stock, Glad he saved it.
Looks very good for the price, these are very collectible and the collectors would point out the flaws, but that aside as long as you are not trying to bluff any one in particular then it is not a problem
The issue with the date set position is that the movement will be one with a date, it can be modded but to what point.
A good starting point, who was the seller?
One more question is there any lume in the numbers in the bezel?
A good example would be a SOSF, drop on a breitling rotor or if the makers stated to engrave them to the same standard as the 7750 reps then this watch will at a glance get away with it unless the person is a member of this forum, A little bit of polishing and finishing would fool a few more.
As it was said above the members here "are the experts", If i walked into a conversation where some one was disecting a watch with any finesse i would assome that the are a member of one of the three rep forums either active or lurker. not all of us but many here would not be fooled even if you had the best franken with gen movement, they would probably even tell where the case originated from like NDT ect
Has any one ever been to one of these or seen the DVD
have a look here.
I wonder if they could teach us any thing, it would not surprise me to see some of our photos in the presentation.
I would say this is a bit out of date now
I am aware that rolex used to issue paperwork that told the user what to do if the watch was gaining or losing a few seconds a day, ie if it was gaining during the day you would lay it side down at nifght and loosing you would lay it dial or case back down at night to allow it to catch up ect, I am happy with the theory but would like to have a look at the rolex wording if any one has a copy they could photograph or know of a link any where, Google gives me thousands of links but i cant find the one i am looking for
Thanks
Good?
great choice, my wife has been abusing one for about 2 years now and it is still her favorate out of here collection of gen omegas, pam 217, milgause and a couple of self mades by me
And here is a rep gen comparison of the white dial
Not a difficult procedure, you will need to remove the back the crown and the movement and re-glue it on, but to much glue or the wrong sort and it could easily go wrong, I would first call around my local independent watch smiths and see if they would mind doing it.
They all need a little checking when it comes to water, grease the seals make sure the crystal is on straight ect, not beyond any one to do but worth paying $10 at a local watch smiths to get it checked to 50m
