  1. Apply some leather treatment and work it in gently with a soft cloth.
  2. It will look far better after some oils are rubbed in V, try the waxing and any other leather prep you have. BTW i dont use any sand paper or wiar brushes on mine when i strip a rep strap just a bit of bleach and scrub with a nail brush, then a good rince in running cold water to get the bleach out of the leather.
  3. Fiddy, if you want to stick out then go big!!!!!!!!
  4. Well today ir has been the fiddy with andy strap #2 for all but some work in the garden that i wore my Home made 1680is thing. Looks like photo bucket is down so a couple of new shots. Victoria was that the strap you got with your PO as you seem to have the same problem as every one else has with the silix strap and the 45 UPO, the strap not holding at the lugs, it looks good on you but i thing the purdy looks better or any pam for that matter, The PO is just a mans watch on a lady, i find that the pam says big watch on a confident and stylish lady! just my 2 cts
  5. Woo they are nice Ziggy and Nanuq, that clasic watch parts one looks good but $330 to but it on a $58 watch is too much, and i doupt it would fit. Any way it was about the 5508 linked to, so we all agree that the 5508 never came with a fluted bezel, good. Thanks Guys you are the font of all watch knowledge!
  6. Wilst looking for 5508 pics i came acros this and wonderd why it has the bezel it has. did the 5508 ever have this type of bezel?????????? Look here
  7. Have you sent that dial to nanuq for finishing????????????????????????????
  8. A great story and a great watch, enjoy it!
  9. Well disapointed with last nights effort i decided to get hold of some better leather, in the nect town there is a small shop that just deals in leather and leather work so i thought i would look through his off cuts for some thing i could use. After 5 hours work, more thought thsn last night and a bit more patentence i aheva Fat Fiddy Strap i am happy with. This thing is about 6-7mm thich and a bastard to fit, it is lined with a soft fine leather that i found in the off cuts witha Crock pattern on and it feels good. Every hole, cut and stitch by hand. Hope you like it, have i done better! Edit, it loks darker on the fiddy as it had just been waxed it looks lighter now it had had time to soak in.
  10. Just finished Number 2, ans i am a lot happier with this one, 5 hours works and sore fingers again!
  11. I take it then that the thrid hand on the main pinion is supposed to be the GMT indicator then, the lack of PR indicator (wether people like it or not) tells me that this will not sell well to people here then, more fantasy than a fantasy thing
  12. Frei, it is either a CO2 airpistol a soft air or a blank firer, and does not require a licence.
  13. Hell V you will soon have more Pams than posts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Ulu????? i used a rule but as the leather was so soft it streched as i was cutting. What does an Ulu look like Nanuq? Damn nice Axe cover !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. The back is a rep???????????????????????????????????????????????/ Edit> just noticed the balence and adjusting arms, they look cheep, does this have more than 1 main spring though. Ok having looked at the photo, i cant decide, is that just bridge work over a standard 21j asian auto woth out the winding bridge or a new movement?
  16. Well today was Nr 1 but now it is the 177 greeny
  17. Thanks Victoria and Helmut, i am going to get some better leather and tooling in the week and give it another go soon but am still going to wear this. I was so supprised how well i like the colour with the 177 and the lume, i might glue another coat onto some stiffer leather and try that to get neater edges.
  18. Last night i was laying in bed unable to sleep as usual and decided that today i was going to make my own strap. So with no training tools or leather i got home from work and went hunting, after a while i found my self armed with some thick grean leather palmed artic mittens, a darning needle, some glue and a stanly knife, 6 hours later with very sore thumbs and fingers a broken needle i have a [censored] strap, but i made it! I wanted it nice and thick so i tripled the leather after i had cut it into very rough strips and glued it, then i used a house hold fork to mark out where the next needle point was to go (with very little success) and started to sew, what a bastard job!!!!!!!!! One good point though at least the colour will match my work clothes! The leather was just to soft to start with and i am too inpatient to read and research, now i will do and looks for some better leather tools. Just look how crap my stiching is Once that was finished and still had the needle in my hand i decided to sort out sone bad stiching on cheep rep deployment strap i had, ( like i thought i could improve on the situation) I dont know i thing the rep dep looks better now than it did before all loose looking and i prefer the contrast.
  19. Thanks TJ. Insurance would not have made any difference i fixed it and changed the valve seals in 12 hours over night and rode to party. So i would have had to collect remitance in another way as you mentioned.
  20. V i would also use this as a start point to get a nice fiddy built, get a DSN crystal and hands, send it off to flav or ziggy or who ever you chose, get a tall cannon fitted and you will be grinnin from side to side when you get it back a month or so later. I know it can be expencive mine runns me at about $450 to 500 but to me it is a great watch aand to me worth that much, about the same as the gen is worth $500in all honesty. Some times a nice custom bike. car starts with crashing it!
  21. I managed to fade one with a cape cod and a lot of rubbing! Once it starts to fade it goes quickly.
  22. Sorry to hear that Scotty, Dont have a spare one and to be honest all the ones i have seen on the bay have the pearl too pronounced, Try one of the "colletors" I am supprised theu dont do spares like inserts, especialy UPO inserts as they look better than what i have seen on ebay
