  4. http://www.virtualworldsnews.com/2008/03/s...d-life-rea.html Second Life Real Estate Sold as Art for $100k At the Art Positions Fair in Miami last December, a piece of Second Life was sold for $100,000 by the artist Cao Fei to a collector. Fei is known for making short videos, including a mini-documentary about her Second Life as China Tracy called i.Mirror, but she's moved onto something more virtually tangible. RMB City is a compilation of real Chinese cities, fantasy elements, and various economic and cultural models. Investors (or collectors) can pay up to $120,000 for a building in RMB City that they will then have access to for two years. Afterwards they'll receive commemorative artwork and documentation of their virtual world activities.
  5. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6162315.html Ailin Graef--who is better known by the name Anshe Chung--works as a real estate developer. She buys property, develops it, resells it, and uses the profits to buy even more. Her business has rapidly snowballed, and she has just made her first million--although none of the "property" is real. All the houses are virtual houses in the online game Second Life--where players create an avatar and can buy, redecorate, and furnish property; run businesses; and interact with other players. Now Graef has become the first virtual-world millionaire. Graef started with an initial investment of just $9.95 and developed her fortune over 32 months. She worked along the same principles as real estate developers do--she began by buying small amounts of virtual real estate, which she then subdivided and developed with landscaping and "themed architectural rebuilds." She then resold or rented the property out for a profit. Second Life has had a lot of publicity recently--companies including Dell and Sun Microsystems have held press conferences in the virtual world, where Reuters has a reporter covering goings-on. All this publicity has meant more curious gamers opening accounts and needing somewhere to "live" in the game--which is great news for real estate agents such as Graef. The currency used in the game is called Linden dollars, and the exchange rate is around $1 to 275 Linden dollars. The average going rate for land parcels in Second Life is between $100 and $1,000 and players can also buy virtual clothes, furniture, and other accessories from a variety of in-game businesses. Graef was born and raised in Hubai, China, although she is currently a German citizen. She now runs Anshe Chung Studios with her partner Guntram Graef--the company has a real office in Wuhan, China, and is currently recruiting to expand its workforce from 25 to 50. She said she believed that the estimated valuation of her virtual assets was in fact somewhat "conservative" and that the actual value may be "significantly higher." She also owns virtual property in IMVU, There, and Entropia Universe. She will be holding a virtual press conference in Second Life on November 28 to discuss her success.
  6. its the same watch - silix isn't jacking up the price - and the "cartel" dealers are complaining to the factory about it.
  7. actually second life is HUGE - you buy and sell stuff with Real money, i have seen a few specials on it, people actually buy real estate and then rent it out to shop owners who sell digital clothes for your avatar or other things there is a dude that paid 200,000 REal US Dollars for prime real estate that he was going to develop into condos and retail. no, i'm not kidding. and there are real aspects to it - npr has a second life room where you can interact with their live tv shows corporations are using second life for seminars for their employees. this is the wave of the future - if you ever see the discovery channel stuff about tech and modern video games or whatever, checkk it out.
  8. need to upgrade to an eta datewheel - fonts to thin for the size of the square jk
  9. i don't remember do non basic members (not platinum) have access to the collectors gallery? even if you don't, one might check for the "links" section

  12. so - i needed a favor from a member - and it turns out our very own collector Eurotimes was able to help me out. - not only did he help me out but he did so at his cost. I have actually been the beneficiary of several of these wonderfully helpful gestures over the years. well - i have decided that the best thing i can do to say thank you is to make a donation to RWG in the name of the helpful member. I know there are tons of these gestures that go on all the time on the forum - and thats why a donation is the best way to say thanks, because it supports the community to which we can all give and when we need it, get a favor in return. So thanks to Eurotimes - and RWG will have a contribution coming.
  13. pretty sure its 129 - http://photobucket.com/guestlogin?albumUrl...ums/d25/HKTAN1/ pass hktan he obviously has more options but i basically ordered this strap but i got it 22/22 instead of the taper cause i hate heavy watches and thin straps that don't offset the weight. and the rivets love the rivets also dani - watch pictured is member timepiece - i followed his lead and have a hktan on order basically the same
  14. i have tons of blue and some black - grey just is different - plus the grey with brown strap looks awesome - i ordered one from HKtan so it looks like timepiece's version i think thats the shiznit more photos http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...l=skyland+hktan
  15. 1. Holy BALLS you have alot of diver watches 2. that is an amazing pictorial of AR - excellent work - way to contribute to the forum knowledge base
  16. cheap straps - go to www.panatime.com expensive see V or HKtan they will make you what you want
  17. or you can get the V1 if you can handle a half lume dot at 3:00 for $200 which is cheaper than buying a 2nd 7750 so, if your watch dies get another for 200 - then get a 3rd, STILL cheaper than getting an ETA. - and, i have never had a 7750 die on me. so its a pretty good bet
  18. just like the new ladies models are incorrect cause they are the same 42mm cases otherwise my mom would like one they are supposed to be 37mm i think thanks for the info on the rubber strap - that was my guess re: the quality - thanks for confirming.
