  1. Was doing a little research this Christmas morning, on a painting I received. ( Will post a photo later) Stumbled across this site, and saw more than a few "different " pieces, from the sublime, to the ridiculous. But they call this "Art" http://watchismo.blogspot.com/2006/12/moch...ntemporary.html Thought some of you may get kick out of some of this work. Back to my initial thrust. I received a contemporary painting of a watch face/s, purportedly an original. painted in '69. It had been hanging in the corporate offices of a company, here in Oz, who went under. My wife was at an auction, and picked it up for a few $$. Has anyone collected any "watch" paintings? Is there a market/collectors? As I said, will post a photo later ( I awoke to find every battery in the house flat... grrr ...women.. if they only told you!... I realise its too technical to put batteries in a charger after you use them....but at least tell me to recharge some... don't just use the lot, and say, " Darling , the camera's not working!") Christmas morning here now in Oz, so the bigfella in red is winging his way westward, hope he brings you all what you are waiting for. Offshore
  2. Hi, If you go to our Links section @ 12 o'clock on the top tool bar, subsection " Watch schools" you may find a bit of info. Offshore
  3. RT, might be good if you pinned a post with all the "finalists" pictured in that one post, if that is possible. Offshore
  4. That 5 zip offer you had, is starting to look pretty attractive John. I think we will now start to see a changing of the guard ( slowly) in Dads army, through the World Cup and beyond. It may be an interesting selection table, for the next couple of Tests. Offshore
  5. One can only hope, that a few of you had the opportunity, to watch todays cricket. If not, try to get a replay! 400+ runs in a day, 3 centuries, the 2nd fastest century in the history of the game, and an Australian side intent on not only winning back the Ashes, but totally demoralising the opposition ( such that it is) I fear the Poms will take a good while to forget what happened today, but believe me, it made this Aussie proud to follow such a competive and intense team. Two days to play... +500 to get, it will take a terrorist attack on the Australian hotel to stop the Ashes coming home. And no, I don't think that is arrogance, just reality. The Poms have been, underprepared, understaffed, out thought, and outplayed..... by " Dads Army" I have always had a positive view, of the benefits of experience... ( Read my siggy ) And this only reinforces that view. One positive to come out of it all for the homeland, will be ongoing work for an army of physchiatrists, when the team gets home... should lower the employment rate substantially Offshore
  6. As a side point, when you enter Australia, check the little box which says you have been on a farm. You will immediately go to the quarantine lane, they will scrape & disinfect all your shoes. You could have a tonne of drugs in your bag, but the quarantine guys are really only interested in your dirty shoes. I carried some timber artifacts in a year or so ago, and declared them. They were not interested in my watches, cigarettes, liquor.. or anything else... see.. you are in the quarantine lane... and we don't want foot & mouth! Works for me. Offshore
  7. Quite a few!!!!! Offshore @Joe, I'm with Cornerstone on this one, 'cept I would get a list of them signed by your departing customs, declare them on arrival, and show them the list from departing customs. It wouldn't hurt to have a few books, repair manuals, watch books etc in it to. Make sure you list the tools as well. Look forward to seeing you in sunny Oz. Offshore
  8. See doc, photoshop can edit the worst of sins.. even gayness Offshore
  9. @fitmic, Most certainly in agreeance there... SHOULD being the operative word. HAVE however... is just a little strong. Offshore
  10. My friend, We are dealing in illicit goods here. The " dealer" does not "have" to do anything... the dealer may elect to assist you with your problem... or may elect to tell you to blow smoke up your a**e. But NO, we don't have any "laws" to tell the dealer what to do... or not to do. Would loved you to have asked the same question of Neil Sorry .. thats the way it is. Offshore
  11. Logged in tonite, to be greated by various discussions... on LV purses, Birken bags, Lacoste shirts.... f*****g pens, suits et al; WTF are we going??........come on guys... this is a replica watch forum... "when the sideshow starts to become more important than the main event, the clowns rebel" Sorry to .. all the dealers and members just selling a few items??... I start to question the raison de etre' here. Lets get on with some watch discussions! Opinions please? Offshore
  12. So maybe you and I better stop thread crapping, and get on with some serious discussions.... about apes and evolution. Offshore
  13. Sounds a bit like " Does my bum look big in this?" To which there is no right answer @Puggy Hope you know i'm joking... especially if I ask about hair on the 3rd knuckle?? Offshore
  14. Hi fellow Aussie, My personal recomendation, would be to buy ETA movements, at least for your 1st few reps. And steer clear of the more complicated chrono's, at least to start. As you spend more time here and around " the traps". you will get a better understanding of what you REALLY like, and in what direction you ultimately will head. Oh yes, and just keep reading... should only take you a year or two, to absorb all the info available Offshore
  15. Hey Pug, Not very hairy arms there! Do you shave?.... or wax? Offshore
  16. An interesting thread on NAWCC, with regards to using Polident for dial cleaning! ( which I have done very succesfully) http://nawcc-mb.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tp...61/m/5411057482 I post this in the interests of anyone who may read one of my old posts on this subject, as I was/am an advocate! S'pose its the old "buyer beware" scenario. Make up your own minds. Offshore
  17. Same here Omni, although about 92F.... Queensland.. beautiful one day- Perfect the next! Offshore
  18. @Usil, No my friend, unfortunately I still have 6 or 7 years till I retire! I am building this little sideline, in the hope that when I finally do retire, I will be able to have a small (tax free) income, so I can continue to have a drink, and a smoke! There is more money in fixing them, than selling... today I sold 4... they would owe me about $5 each. And I got $45 in sales! At the same time I did 12 battery replacements ( Average $7 each) Cost to me $1.20 ( Plus my time) I also got another 7 repair jobs, various bands/ bracelet repairs (some springbars etc) and a couple of good mechanical repairs in there as well. I estimate I will nett around $400 for the other work ( about 16 hours work in all this- and negligible parts/consumeables-maybe $5) At the same time, I feel I am contributing to our community, as we have no Jewellers/Watchmakers locally-yet. So small steps, towards a peaceful future! Offshore
  19. That was actually the stall next door, he sells memorabilia... those are football and horse racing photos. @RT, Hardly a living, just supplements my various vices Offshore
