Little White Lies We're Supposed To Tolerate?
offshore replied to Pugwash's topic in General Discussion
Silence is golden.... golden.....!!!! ( Or at least ...plated!) Offshore -
FYI http://nawcc-mb.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tp...2171#1876012171 A lot of discussion re benches here. I have Mick Watters book if anyone wants dimensions. Mine is an old computer desk, with a slide out keyboard shelf ( which I find most useful- Keep my battery testers, and dremel on charge in there) I put a hutch above it for tools and work in progress, and its only real limitation is lack of room... not for working on... just to store "stuff".. I am inherently "messy" I need more storage areas within reach.. and I already have a 6' CD tower storage unit to 1 side. Photo attached. Offshore Edit to add. I have subsequently purchased one of those green electronics, can't cut 'em, antistatic mats to work on, and I like it a lot. I have a seperate board about the size of my work area, which has vice and movement clamps fitted, which I put on my work area when needed. You can see on my bookcase to the left, more storage drawers for batteries and parts. and I really need more!! Never enough storage. the one thing I have read about, that may be worth trying, is an " apron" which pulls out fom the bench, and secures around your waist, to catch all the bits that invariably want to jump onto the floor. ( I have a magnet on a flexi shaft to recove them at the moment) and make sure your flooring is light coloured to find 'em. Still wouldn't stop those bits that fire off sideways ( Go sproing!) I am still missing many small parts, and fear my wife has vacuumed them by now!

Welcome, and hold on, it can be quite a ride! And hold tight to your wallet as well. And read, read, read. Offshore

So what if we could watermark each picture posted here... say with the word REPLICA.....( and I'm not saying we can).... or is this the responsibility of the poster? It raises a few points... EVERY pic posted would have that (Whatever) word on it ( even a gen... or a photo of your car... or your Mother in law!!! ) And we certainly wouldn't have " This photo posted at RWG.....followed by our addy!!!!." Is it the forums' responsibility... or is it our right.... or is it overbearing/ censorship/restriction......???? Interested in views.. if any, on this matter. As I've said, we don't even know if its doable yet, and if it is, if we want/need to do it. Offshore

Little White Lies We're Supposed To Tolerate?
offshore replied to Pugwash's topic in General Discussion
Well I'm going to stick my two bobs worth in to this debate. Some of you know, I no longer collect reps. One of the reasons was an Omega I bought some time back ( more than 2 years ago) from one of our dealers. It was only photographed from the front, and when it arrived, it had a diffent model caseback ( A Seamaster on a Conny) Contacted said dealer......... "Thats how they come".... " Can you source me, at my cost the correct caseback?".... "Not available".......... BS, I got the correct caseback from another dealer in a week. So I voted with my wallet, and said dealer has not sold me another watch......unfortunately following this fiasco, not too many other dealers benefited from my custom either. And thats fine for the guys who have been around a bit.... they can vote with their wallets too! But its the newbs who come along, for 1 watch or many.... that I am concerned about. Most wouldn't know an ETA from a Seagull.... most actually wouldn't know a Pelican from a Seagull......Let alone synthetic crystal from saphire. So if a dealer lies or misrepresents.... that is what this forum is for.... call them out... in public. Haven't yet spoken to the Admin team about this ( and probably won't)... but I'm damn sure you are not going to find us becoming advertising censors.... gee my brain hurts thinking about that can of worms...... so it is up to the "populace" to do what this forum is designed for... provide practical information on replica watches. Great thread Puggy.. ( pity we haven't got a POM on at the minute ) Thanks to all those who input, 'specially TVT ( Good to see you here mate) As far as i am concerned there should not be any Grey... only black and white... and lies is lies. CALL 'EM OUT. Offshore -
You saved it? I've used it!....... (with obligatory modifications)

Will everyone say "Ohhhh Nooooooooooooo!!!!" ITS' BEEN REMOVED Gee ebay sometimes do respond....must have been the sheer volume of complaints Pity really, as the most of the bids were as fake as the watch! Offshore

@Falco, Cousteau was my boyhood hero (50's). I have a complete set (mint) of all his books; both the smaller and larger sets, and wouldn't part with them for anything, even though they should be worth a few $$ by now. I marvelled at their exploits then, and time has only enhanced my admiration for what those men achieved. Without doubt, our 1st and best underwater conservationists, but also explorers par excellence; the group who not only gave birth to recreational diving, but nurtured it to adulthood. Offshore

I see "smokiejoedog' is the latest bidder..............anyone we know?? @david, Hope you were....................gentle!!!!!.............. Offshore

Whilst everyone discusses Quality Vs Other, I thought I might post this link from NAWCC ( which I think I have posted before) http://nawcc-mb.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tp...6972#1216046972 This is not to denigrate Bergeon, just to advise that some have had some problems of late. Maybe there are some rep Bergeon screwdrivers out there???? Certainly there are rep case back openers!! On a similar vein, I recently bought some replacement AF screwdriver tips @ A$1 ea. And they are absolutely knockout. Really its the tips, more than the drivers that matter ( as long as your driver tips are replaceable) And yes Falco ( wasn't that J Cousteaus' right hand man?) agreed, the use of a sharpener (below) will make life infinetly easier! Gee Ken, Now he's prepared to post it all round the world, Singapore and the Gold Coast... yep there's not much more to the world than those 2 ( and Eltham) Actually I've got a dud ebay account... I think I may just have some fun with this one......prior to putting him in! Offshore

Whilst on my nightly jog around the 'bay, I stumbled across this little gem! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ROLEX-OYSTER-PREPEN...1QQcmdZViewItem Unfortunately, its the PREPENTUAL version, and you need to collect it in Sydney, so I'm out... but all you Sydney Rolex nuts, can start a right little war over this. Actually the photos are almost too poor to see if its a rep or not, but I'm sure our Rx eagle eyes will get something... I couldn't be bothered wasting any more time on it..... NO ONE would offer a sub for 0.01c, even just prior to the men with the jacket arriving!!! Offshore

Nah, We already all knew that Neil Off topic, ...Glad to see you are getting back to your old self..we'll just have to see if we can find a few of your old foes to come visiting... some chick and some diver guy would be a good start Offshore

Right on E! The very reason we leave these sorts of threads open, before putting into the KBase. As a (former) diver, who has used heliox, but never been involved in saturation diving, I find this a most informative thread, and look forward to its conclusion/s. Thank you gentlemen, please continue to enlighten us. Offshore

gioarmani Thanks for that, we'll move this to the Knowledge base, after everyone has a chance to read it. Offshore

@fernshaw, New members cannot see in the trading forums, these areas are for those who pay the membership fee. To post watches for sale, you need to be a VIP member. Our admin will post all the new changes, and how the various memberships will work, in the next day or so. In the meantime, there is much to be found and learned, in the sections to which you have access. Offshore

Review Of The "ultimate" Planet Ocean 45mm
offshore replied to By-Tor's topic in By-Tor's Watch Reviews
Thanks for that fabulous review BT! It's posts like this, that make me wonder......... when we have newbs elsewhere, slating this forum as elitist! Surely they must read other posts, or use the search facility? But I suppose I can be taken to task for those remarks as well Sorry to digress from the original point... great post... sharing your wonderful knowledge with your fellow forum members... I dips me lid!! Offshore -

Methinks one does protesteth too much! The hidden post now resides in our Admin section, until those mods ( Who, by the way, have families, Christmas, and all manner of other activities to attend to as well!)... have an opportunity to view the proceedngs and comment. At that time, the poster will be advised of the result. I thought it was an excellent catch... well done TT! Now lets await a determination from the admin team. Offshore
