  1. Devedander, I think you may need to measure that again... 14m sounds way too small... most of these would be 18mm or 20mm. ( I think... if we are talking about the same thing) All my RX ( I don't have a Daytona) are 20mm where the bracelet attaches to the watch, and the bracelet to clasp are held with screws, and would only be about 10mm long. Maybe you can photo it, or I suppose just take it to your mate and let him size it. but if its springy... its a spring bar! good luck. Offshore
  2. Reg, See, I learn something new about my own board every day I thought we had one, but couldn't find it! Oh well be a useful tool on other boards... with less capacity than ours! Offshore
  3. For you people who use IE, and spend time on boards, and want to spell check your posts-> http://www.iespell.com/download.php Works just great. Offshore
  4. Yep... Lousy wrist shots I should talk... I don't take any. Offshore
  5. Removes mods hat! No its not OK! But the draconian laws surrounding blood alcohol levels are. My father, God bless his soul.. gone 25 years now.... never had a drink in his life... he was a chronic asthmatic, and was prescribed a medicine called elixophyllin... as it turned out , it had a high alcohol content, which he didn't know... he was breath tested, over the limit, and faced court.....major cost of many $$ for lab tests , lawyers etc etc... but he finally beat it in court. Not bad concepts... don't exceed .05 ( or whatever) but there are always some exceptions. And shouldn't require major $$ outlays, because some ass decided that he would have a law with no backside.. to "Control the road user" On to knives/weapons, Personally I dislike guns, knives, etc etc. However I held a pistol licence, so I could carry a powerhead ( for shark protection whilst diving) and would have a knife licence, if required, for any knife I felt I needed to carry, or own. This from a guy who was conscripted to the army, had never held a gun prior, ( and not too many "aggressive" knives), but was trained to use them, by my government, and then sent to a war zone, where I HAD to use them in anger.. hated it.. but thats the way it was. None in my household now. But I don't have a problem with anyone who wants to buy, sell or trade.. thats their thing, its still the user who kills, not the weapon. Offshore
  6. Ah John, The Glasgow kiss... taught to me 30 years ago by a Scots lad I flatted with.. name of Finlay, from the Glasgow shipyards...saved my arse in many confrontations... but I'm sure as you and Neil know only too well... must be perfectly executed... or people get mad Offshore
  7. As an outsider looking in... I wonder if that remarkable instrument ... the Texta colour, or another fine point black marking pen, may be the quick fix answer to these dial woes? It would depend on the gloss of the dial, and if the " chipping' is noticeable from a depth perspective. But I have successfully " repaired" quite a number of dials with various colour Textas'. 8. I didn't laugh out loud.... just chuckled.... Ken may have heard me Offshore
  9. On the 'bay- Oz tonite- I know the seller, very reputable, so would be genuine. Needs some work, but may be got for low $$ http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...mMakeTrack=true FYI Offshore
  10. MK, Welcome aboard, keep that wallet firmly in your back pocket... this can become an expensive hobby Offshore
  11. @cc, You will find that trying to build up GP can actually result in the brush plating removing the existing GP. You really need to start from a clean base. ( Well prepared) @Birdman I agree - these kits are really just for cosmetic use, and amateur at best. I have done ( mainly genuines) quite a few, but still struggle in knowing what the base metal is. I can assure you that not all watches are s/s base, and knowing what you are starting with, seems to be the key. Just cos it looks like s/s... doesn't mean it is! Offshore
  12. @cc, I have this kit, as do at least a couple of other members. The biggest problem I encounter, is trying to establish what base metal I am coating over! You will find that there are different preparations required for different bases, (which also requires purchase of a couple of extra solutions) I can report results from absolutely fantastic.... to bloody awful. In fact I have one watch still sitting as a work in progress after 2 years, I just can't get the plating to take...as I can't find the correct prep ( as I don't know what the base material of it is!) There were a couple of long discussions @ RWGuide, back about 2 years ago. I think I still have those threads archived, if you can't find them... shoot me a PM and I will try to drag them out, if you can't dig them up. BTW, Caswell are a bit slow in responding to " How do I fix this" questions... they get around to it.. but sometimes it can be a week.. which is bloody frustrating, when you have a job set up and going, and can't get the plating to take. I had a problem trying to coat a "rice grain" band. You need to have your negative clip attached to each individual piece of metal to coat. I set up a probe instead of the alligator clip as the clip was too large to grip each piece, but eventually gave up after a couple of hundred "grains", as the job was looking spotty. Another job consigned to a " work in progress" container. And as this band is part of the watch ( no spring bars) its another that is pretty much a write off. I find I now only attack relatively expensive watches, and use it infrequently. My score.... 6/10. Offshore
  13. Gen/ rep... maybe doesn't matter too much. On the 'bay tonite. Anyone need? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/OMEGA-CONSTELLATION...1QQcmdZViewItem Offshore
  14. v, Maybe you need to approach this question, by trying to compare weights of various watches. Its really hard to get a straight answer to this! Almost as bad as " who's got the best sub!" Offshore
  15. Omni my friend, Good thing you weren't home in your own bed... otherwise the good lady may have asked if the world moved for you as well Glad to know you are both OK. Must admit, that when I heard it on the news this am, my 1st thought was, "WTF did omni say he was? Hope he's OK", but we know its hard to dispatch a true WIS!!!! Keep on ticking my friend. Offshore
  16. Gee A solid gold gen daytona would be a nice start boss Offshore
  17. Spotted tonite on the'bay in Oz. Will be interesting to see where it goes to, I know this seller, have bought numerous from him, if he says its legit, at least he beleives so. I can't spot any giveaways, but what would I know. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...mMakeTrack=true BTW, he is clearing out a fair bit of reasonable stuff, check his other auctions. Offshore
  18. Thanks for that! Another useful day- learned something new! Offshore
  19. Bazz, That sounds like a different system, to anything I have seen. ( Not that I am any expert) Is it possible to post a couple of photos? Sound like you need to depress a ??ball?? or button?? on the underside of the bracelet, to remove the pin?? Or is it a plate set up like the Casio described in my link from PMWF? Offshore
  20. @freddy, Here is fine for these sorts of queries. Yes, the suction tool should give you enough leverage to create a seal... as long as the seals are OK you should be waterproof. But as stated earlier, you will only know, after a pressure test. I commend you to spend some time at the following to fora, many questions answered. For instance, I was myself questioning the best hand remover... searched it and voila.. instant answer. http://nawcc-mb.infopop.cc/groupee/forums/a/frm/f/6286058233 http://nawcc-mb.infopop.cc/groupee/forums/a/frm/f/9486087461 Offshore
  21. freddy, Water tightness/seal/ whatever, comes from good seals, not large loads of torque. It only needs to be tight enough to not unscrew.... the only test of waterproof-ness, is to pressure test it. Relate a little story about an underwater camera housing I built years ago. It had 4 wing nuts, on threads tapped in to the housing, securing the face. On a dive ( deep- 200ft) I noticed the wing nuts were all loose. The pressure had compresed the O ring, and the nuts were spinning loose. So ( probably with some narcosis,) I tightened them. As I surfaced, ( and pressure decreased) the threads that were tapped in to the housing tore out of the tapped holes, face plate released, and my precious camera drowned. Took me some time to work this one out. So if you are diving, deep, and notice your caseback is loose ( why you would be checking is another question ) DON'T tighten it... you could probably strip the threads. Offshore
  22. Sometimes, most of the time, rarely, but not every time. If it did we could all do away with all our case back openers. I have quite a few, and recently i had a watch that I couldn't budge ....for the life of me. It was a challenge... and I wasn't going to be beaten..... A week later, it found its way to my friendly repairer/ supplier. He gave it back... opened ... a week later.... unmarked.... with the comment. "That was a tough one, needed hot water to move it" But he wouldn't elaborate further??? He is an old school repairer, and passes on a lot of tricks, but wouldn't be drawn on this. I fail to see how hot water could assist, as the whole case would heat up! Oh well lifes mysteries! Maybe he was having a lend of me. Offshore
  23. A couple of years back, someone posted on TRC, a tool that was a suction cup arrangement, sort of like what is used for carrying sheets of glass ( only a lot smaller) They got them at Wallmart ( automotive section) for $2.98 at the time ( watch out for inflation) I just dropped over there to try and get a pic for you, but all the links have died. The folks over there swore by them at the time, I tried to find something similar here in Oz, to no avail. You can also try Narikaas " sticky balls", duct tape, or the tool pictured below, they all work with limited success. Offshore
  24. In fairness, some of those tools are junk! Some also work extremely well, its just a matter of sorting out whats good and whats not.... or maybe working out which is the replica tool, and which is the genuine See this link for info. http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/WatchSchool/WS...20Bracelets.htm I have the tool shown in this link, it works extremely well, and came with spare hardened tips ( which I have not yet had to use) Offshore
  25. Are you sure it didn't arrive via the frozen north? Cos it looks like its been through the Nanug school of destruction testing Seriously, its a pity when anything is destroyed like this, hope you get a replacement. Offshore
