Some Of The Best Watch Information Ever Posted On The Forums...
offshore replied to TwoTone's topic in General Discussion
Guys, Thats only 2 of 52 pages.... this was a fabulous thread, that ran for over 12 months. Some of the info is now way outdated... Gee we have become so much more knowleageable of late... but its due to this kind of input. I cringe at some of the info.......even mine:) But well worth the read. Only hope TT has the stamina to repost it all. Alan -
I wouldn't know a Pam from a pen, but spotted this tonite. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Panerai-GMT-luminor...1QQcmdZViewItem So... gen or scam? Educate me. Offshore

Just spotted you posting this TT, Great stuff. I might add that I transferred some of the more salient articles into our Knowledge Bank some time back, but it would be great to see the whole thread again. Offshore -
Andrew & Josh's Response To The Little White Lies Thread...
offshore replied to trustywatchguy's topic in General Discussion
Is this the case? If so, we in admin, are not aware of it! Offshore -
Well guys, you've only got to ask! Offshore

A quick up date- 5 of the 7 I had reported which were finishing in this 24 hr period were knocked ( and the other 2 still have some hours to run.) Maybe there is hope yet... wonder if its me, or are Ebay ( at least in OZ) giving more general creedence to reports? Will have to report a few O/S and see what happens. If it is just Ebay being more diligent, it will only because GAF & friends are giving them grief! ( Cynical old me) Offshore

YET Offshore PS And look the little bugger is now taunting me with it! http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&...st&p=191766

Don't know where to post this... maybe a mod can move it if its wrong! Some may know of my obsession with fakes being posted on ebay! I have followed this for some years, and must have reported thousands... to see most just go to end of auction... and another poor bastard get ripped ( and hate reps even more) I don't think it does our (your) hobby much good, ( I don't collect any more) Tonite I went to my ebay sniping programme to find I have succeded in having 5 blatant reps , taken off ebay. ( All finishing within the next 24 hours... and all that I had on report.... 100% hit rate.... 1st time over maybe 10%) A change in policy at the 'bay?? Or has a squeaky wheel, finally got some oil?? Or.....just a statistical glitch?? Will be interesting to see what happens in the next 24 hours as I have another 7 on report, which finish tomorrow. Have made a lot of noise at ebay over the last years, with nary a response. Interesting.................. Offshore

I sincerely don't beleive anyone is "attacking" a dealer. This is known as constructive criticism, and there is a huge gap between the two. Just let the process flow. Offshore

Angus, Please don't take this as a tongue in cheek response, I am perfectly serious. It would appear from what you say, that we, ( and I use the collective we.. being the members of all the rep forums) are in fact the technical advisers to these projects. ( to a greater or lesser degree) I can understand, having spent much time sourcing other product in SE Asia, how frustrating it is , for the "message" to not really get finally through. However the final result, is that the manufacturer/ watchmaker/dealer, end up with a far superior product, due in some degree to the feedback received from the "technical advisers" If this is correct, may I respectfully suggest, that the accountants/financiers of these projects, give consideration to adopting a multi level price structure for the finished components. So if your target selling price for a given piece, was (say)$350, you build in to your pricing an allowance for sales to TA's, (Technical Advisers) where that price , reflected the extra $$ you will achieve in sales to the General Public. (due to a better product) Therefore you may marginally raise your "Retail" selling price, to say $375, but at the same time offer to your group of TA's (us) a discounted price for the input. Say $250 or $300!!! Don't think thats too difficult math, or business acumen... it would encourage more input to the final product... maybe that Holy Grail .. the Perfect Rep, could be produced...........eventually. ( And think of the retail profits from such a piece) Multi level pricing would be a benefit to everyone..... or am I just " pissing in to the wind" with this..... Can the factories/ watchmakers/ financiers/ dealers, see any logic in this approach? Am interested to hear your take on this concept. Offshore

Thanks. As expected

Congrats my wee Scots friend! And I'm sure the 2nd time around is thrice as pleasurable! Look at me ... languishing back with few runs on the board... Ricky Ponting I aint! Or maybe I just expend all my 2 finger typing skills... mouthing off in admin, where they don't count. Makes one a little ashamed really! But that Powermax crown sits squarely on a head that deserves all the recognition it gives. A credit to our little community... I'll drink a Scotch to you tonite me lad. Offshore

Spotted in my nightly wandering on Oz Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=110084720299 Not enough clear photos to make a definitive decision, I fear... to me the CG's look OK... but thats about all you can really see. I suspect this will go "thru the roof" seeing as its got books et al. And the sellers feedback is OK. So some silly bugger will probably pay big $$ for an unknown quantity... or worse get bait & switched! Be interesting to see if questions are asked(and displayed) What sayest thou...Oh Rx knowledgeable ones? Offshore

Gee Guys, Best you drop over to TRC; there is a dealer... Bergies Belts over there, who may be able to assist Offshore

I beleive... and hope... you are speaking of other fora here Neil. Because I KNOW, that the RWGroup admin team go to extraordinary lengths to remain impartial, and be seen to do same. What happens in admin, stays in admin. You see we have a mixed group of dealers, including Chinese. You see that we don't have front page, or 5 star rated dealers. Our policy (for now) is to have 12 (watch) dealers. This alters if one elects to not continue with us. ( We have a substantial number in the wings, on a "waiting list") Then , and only then, the next applicant is discussed in the admin group, and if found to be acceptable, is offered a position, with a probationary period. A dealer may be suspended from trading, if enough problems surface, until those problems are corrected, or could be banned for more serious breach/es. Only if a dealer was banned would they be replaced. Thankfully, up to this time, we have not had to use either the suspension , or banning options. We do have regular, and lengthy discussions, about all manner of subjects. I will tell you that the number of posts in admin is many thousands. In closing... I'm sure your barb was aimed elsewhere, however I felt I must clarify the thoughts and actions of the admin team here. Offshore

Whew, I've got one of those, cost me all of $80, about 3 years ago. Best I throw it up on the 'bay, and start making some serious money Offshore
