Just had a contact from Ken, he is having problems logging in here to receive PM's that some members have sent him. He WILL get back to you as soon as this is resolved.... and will honour any "Deals" he is currently doing. Just a FYI Offshore

Seriously, why ask? You have your answer. Offshore

Puggy... Only to true! And he has been hovering around here for some time. We will up our IP checks!!!!! These guys are just scum. I remember when he came to the old RWG, I posted that "leopards' don't change their spots".... was howled down, and accepted his presence... ( "Poor guy- got caught- heavy fines-" Oh the humiliation of it all!) So he was allowed to trade, initially only in straps... then parts, finally watches..... and then............ you guessed it ... more ripoffs. So here he is again... multi persona.... grafting his way to acceptance. Well not here my boy! Leopards truly don't change their spots. Go over to repgeek, ( I understand you're trading there now) Re-establish with a different name on other fora... but don't come here bringing your foul scams. There are some of us old enough to remember all the heartache you have brought and wrought in the past. To our members... remember... If you see a sign of someone with a multiple registration, report it immediately... and if you have more than one... cancel it...NOW Otherwise you may end up getting completely banned, when we do an IP sweep.... and my guess is one is imminent.!!! Send it to Nanug! When it comes back, it will be very "distressed" Just joking... although he does have a "way" with making subs look "used"! Offshore

If you paid by PP, was it via a CC? If so, I would start talking to your card provider. I seriously don't think you will get much joy from PP......'cos PP sucks! Offshore PS, I deal regularly via PP, and ALWAYS do it via my CC account. Even if I have money sitting in my PP account.. I transfer this out, and ultimately back to my CC. Would NEVER depend on PP to take any action. NEVER

Yes, If only that was so Ken! However this was a VERY new watch, ( under 12 months old, by the style) And obviously never opened. Which just goes to show that even the batteries are sh*t! (I have given up buying cheap Chinese batteries... you just keep replacing them for free) Now pay $1 a battery, not 10c, it's good economics if you want return custom... otherwise you are forever doing freebie replacements. And I'm now doing about 50 battery jobs a week (home & market) The flip side to the market business, is the amazing array of gens which cross your path: have collected a few, fixed a bunch more, and advised on values on dozens. ( Saw Oris, Omega, and a Pom brand "Majex" this morning) The Majex was a 1950's ultra thin dress watch, 14k gold, running great, Swiss movement.... and the guy had NO idea what he had! Also keep getting offered a selection of old clocks to work on... tried a few, it was beyond me, so don't go there anymore. But I do spend an interesting few hours at the market stall each week.!!!! Had a funny experience today,..... was on my Sunday watch repair market stall, a guy asked for a battery replacement,(like the other 28 this morning) The watch was a noname chinese shitter.. but engraved on the back case was: All Swiss parts. Assembled in China. On opening it, I noticed the old battery was marked: Swiss ETA Made in China. Didn't really know ETA was in the battery business!..............In China Offshore

Re the question of the shafts becoming misaligned. An impact such as this, would at the very least shift the motors on their mounts, (if not tear the motors (and genset) free), and the gearboxes, batteries, desal, thruster motors, tanks, blackwater system etc etc would move as well. Just also think of all the other items aboard, which would have "moved" Fridges, stoves, furniture et al. would have been chucked all over the shop. I have seen motors in a race boat torn from high performane mounts, just from impact with a wave ( admittedly the race boats are travelling pretty quick these days... however the impacts would be similar) And I can assure you that race boats are deigned with impact in mind, not so recreational boats. As I said previously, have seen a few boats dropped over the years, one in particular, which landed right way up, (about 48' from memory) was subsequently written off, just from equipment movement and structural damage, ( it didn't even get water inside) Not pretty, but inevitable in the boat business. Ken, I'll give you 10-1, it doesn't make the finish line Offshore

There is another thread with regard to this... please read it and your admins' response. Anyone with info or problems, please contact one of your admin. THREAD CLOSED Offshore

Can you please explain what you are saying here? Who is "they" NOW.... is the 1st time this has come to my/our attention.(To my knowledge) Guys ... if you have a problem, there is such a thing as a PM. Don't beleive your admin team read EVERY post....just keep us in the loop, and we will try to assist. As you can see above, Ken has asked for some FACTS... it may be even better if those with a problem could forward info by PM the admin team, so we can decide IF a problem exists, and then WHAT, (if anything ) we can do to assist. We ARE a strong admin group, we ARE NOT mindreaders. Offshore

You betcha, saves the need for buying a watch winder ..... thinka bout it!!!!! More conotations than your one track mind! Offshore

Well you can bet there was a BIG discount being offered on it at the show! Have seen more than a few of these type scenes in my time... never pretty. (Although it wasn't a bad entry... judged 6.5 7.0 6.5 7.0 7.5 and 6.0 by the panel of international judges.... degree of difficulty 8.9!) Offshore BTW, for those who don't know... that would be a total write off... cost of returning it to the builder and stripping the few good bits would be more than the value of the remanents.

I'm sure insurance works differently around the world... however I last week re-insured my house & contents... I wanted a "blanket" cover for $20K on jewellery, watches and my tools. I was asked only to supply photos of my work area,(tools) and about 20 of my more than 1000 watches ( all genuines)(and a couple of pieces of jewellery ) -didn't even show the assessor my (few remaining) reps I have it in writing that in the event of a claim, my assessment of the value of a piece will be accepted!! Obviously I am paying a premium to cover a single loss @ $20k, even though my most expensive piece would be no more than $5k, so I don't really understand the mechanics of all this.... maybe I'll find out if I ever have a claim Offshore ( PS the premium on the policy was around $200)

Went to a watch show this weekend......
offshore replied to jfreeman420's topic in General Discussion
I have followed this seller on the 'bay for some years.... always wondered about some of his pieces... never purchased from him, although he has had some nice stuff cheap. I have wondered whether he was building some Frankenwatches... maybe some of our experts could look at a few of his "offerings " and comment. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Vintage-Rare-Omega-...1QQcmdZViewItem Offshore -
@Usil, Yeh, no probs, they have his details. Offshore

I see Muttsa has only a couple of sponsors... Abrik, ( A company selling concreting tools! and a bicycle tyre company) Well congrats firstly to both of them for being on board. However, let's try to drum up a bit of clout for this great ride. Firstly Muttsta... What brand of bike are you on? Shoes? goggles? helmet?.... What else? Let's see if your friends @ RWG can drum up some support! Who out there is associated in the Corporate world? Can any of you push some sponsorship Muttsta's way? Someone must have a 1c per km donation available in the corporate coffers? Or more? Sh*t it's all tax deductable! Let's all hit up these companies, from as many parts of the world as possible, showing our support ( No need to mention RWG) and see if worldwide support for a cause, can make this truly memorable. Will post an ongoing list of "targets" to email statements of support to, over the coming days. (And some nice positive comments to his existing sponsors won't hurt either!) As I said previously... let's show some community here. Go to it Muttsta. Offshore

@Usil, What a great idea, however we can take this a little further. I have just emailed TH, and told them about Muttsta. If now they receive a series of mails from around the world about this amazing adventure, they may just sit up and take some notice. I especially pointed out the posts of the 24, and 27 May, which wrapped up the TH operation!! To help all you lazy bastards here is Tim Hortons contact. customer_service@timhortons.com Get to it RWG'ers. We do have a great community here! Offshore

Found this tonite, Probably only "reasonable" in pricing, but a great overview of various tools and quality. Haven't used them, but the link comes from a forum I have found to be on the up! (pmwf) http://www.nam-hing.com/ Will add it to our "links" section. Offshore

Maybe we need to draw a more concise definition on "Inspected"??? I feel there may be a major difference between the sort of QC checks... say...TTK does, and an "inspection" of a watch that is being shipped by other dealers. It's pretty easy to say..."This is a photo of your watch, and I have inspected it"... as against some listed checks that others may carry out. Not aiming at anyone here, just think the discussion, is maybe getting a little clouded as to what EXACTLY is done by each dealer. Would be nice to see a precise list of QC checks each dealer offers-Yes? Offshore PS .. We could probably extend this discussion, to qualifying the level of pre delivery "service" ( offered at extra cost) by dealers.... does it incude a full tear down, relube, timing, reassembly and possibly waterproofing?? Or is it " open the back... mist with an aerosol oil spray, and reseal" ?? (Sorry, probably being facetious here... akin to take the watch for a walk past an oil truck )

I viewed this, as I own a couple of Aeromatics, thought it may be just a miss spell! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/VINTAGE-GENTS-SWISS...1QQcmdZViewItem (Note the strategic placement of the seconds hand, in the 2nd photo) Looks like the Chinese spelling problem has gravitated to new heights (or lows), can't even spell O**ga without a hiccup! Personally, I think this descends to new lows,....suck 'em in with an "unknown"... then hope the eyes aren't too good, and don't pick up the obvious. If others have a different take.. opinion..or thoughts, I am most interested. Offshore

Lotta Scots here but! And it's sorta like the same lumpa dirt... ain't it? Offshore
